On this 90+ degree day, the a/c in my car decides to just quit. I recently moved back to Newbury Park after being gone for 16 years and had not yet selected a mechanical repair shop but I sure needed one fast today! I knew it was some sort of power issue as the entire a/c system shut down like someone pulled the plug. I had seen good reviews for Giant Oak Automotive and since I was in their area, I decided to take a chance rather than melt. It was going on 5:00 and I knew that could be a busy time for a shop with customer pick-ups, etc. but I couldn't wait until tomorrow. I patiently waited (very briefly) and was back on the road with a/c within 45 minutes. A silly little fuse changed out and NO CHARGE. All the technicians were friendly, I never felt intimidated (as a female), and they solved my problem. They will be seeing my car again for regular maintenance since I need not look any further. I owned an auto body shop in Oxnard for 15 years and SERVICE is key. These guys get that and they got a new customer!

This is definitely an overdue review. A few months ago, my car battery was on the fritz. Giant Oak Automotive accommodated by schedule for same-day service, diagnosed the problem, and sold me a high-quality battery. Since that time, I have gone back to Giant Oak Automotive for preventative maintenance (e.g. oil changes), and have been very happy with the company's professionalism and customer service.

Best place in the world. Mike is a gem, honest, knowledgeable and a hellava,nice guy. This is the place for your car, they will not sell or fix anything that doesn't need fixing. Just like the old days, good price, great work.

I brought my car in with only 30 minutes to spare, got it looked at right then, and he temporarily fixed the problem until I could come back with more time. I will never go anywhere else with my car again! Courteous, quick, and knowledgeable.

I had my first flat tire recently and had no idea what to do; looked up local repair shops on yelp and this place seemed like a safe bet, so I took my tire here to see if it could be repaired and was treated to very quick, friendly service that didn't cost me anything! The man who helped me (the owner?) took my flat out of my trunk and sprayed it with soapy water until he found the leak(s), then told me that the damage was in an area that probably couldn't be repaired, but directed me to a nearby tire place where I could have it further evaluated. He marked the spot for me, put the tire back in the trunk and gave me directions to the other place, and wouldn't take any money for his time. If I ever have another car issue I'll remember to come here!

I found this business through yelp and wanted to try them out because they had great yelp reviews. I like the fact that when I called Mike made time right away to check out my vehicle. Within a couple hours I got a call back and was told what the problem was and for reasonable price he fixed it with no hassle. I would be happy to recommend his shop and to go back in the future.

Here is my story. My partner, my mom and I drove up to Thousand oaks, Ca from San Diego to visit elderly, Alzheimer grandma. We do this little trip frequently to spend a little time, get groceries, and often have a little outing with grandma. On this particular Wednesday, about 2:30pm, we were just heading down the road for a nice little Hidden Valley drive when my car started to make a funky little sound from the front end of the motor. We were only about 2 miles from Grandma's house so I quickly turned the car around to head back. I didn't want a break down with a car full of people. Nicely turned around, it happens, my car quits! Crap! I absolutely have to be back in San Diego this evening for work early the next day! I get on Yelp and find Giant Oak Auto, I call and Mike says bring my car in he will have a look. Called AAA, get it towed to his shop...it's now about 3:30pm. Turns out a pulley on my fan has broken and taken my fan belt with it. Mike proceeds to make a bunch of calls to find parts. Only one available from all the part stores, but no more deliveries for the day from the parts department. They can have it there first thing in the morning. So now I'm faced with trying to figure out train tickets, and cab ride to the train station; followed by getting back up to LA to get my car on the weekend...it's all a total headache/nightmare. Mike says he will send one of his guys to the parts store and pick up the necessary parts and should be able to fix it that evening! Wow, that's customer service!
They recommended a great little pub up the road we could walk too and called us an hour later with my fixed car. I expected extra fees for the part run and rush service...nope! Just the price he originally quoted me.
Hopefully I never have anymore car trouble while visiting Grandma, but if I do, Giant Oak Automotive is where my car will visit! Mike and his guys were amazing.

This place rocks, i will not go to any other place, Mike and his crew take very good care of me and as i have sat there i see that they give the same service to their other clients who stop in. I have even ran into other friends there, people who i admire, not realizing they too use Mike and Giant Oak Automotive, we are all in good company!!! No matter how much I say here, I simply cannot say enough. Mike is honest, knowledgeable, and most importantly TRUSTWORTHY! Him and his crew baby sat my car with over 200K miles for the last 3 years, and even though the car was old, they kept it alive and reliable. Now I bought a new car and Mike is the ONLY person that I will trust to care for my car. I drive here from Orange County and REFUSE to go anywhere else! Highly recommended!!!!!!

What a find! Honest diagnosis, fair price. I needed a lot of work done in order to pass smog. After Giant Oak got the engine light shut off, one of the nine monitor lights did not come back on. I had to leave town, and the responsibility to follow up was on my young 16-year-old granddaughter. After a few visits back, monitor light still did not come back on. Finally, Mike just said bring the car and leave it. There was no charge for any of these follow-up visits. When they finally got the light shut off, they took it up and got it smogged for me.
I am a customer for life!

I know when I take my car here, I will get an honest estimate and a job well done. I recently made a mistake and had a tire company in the valley fix my brakes. That company really messed up bad. But Mike and Tony came to the rescue and fixed all my brakes real proper like. This the only place I'll take my cars to.

I've been taking our cars to Mike's place for nearly 15 years. He is customer service focused, very nice, and promptly calls you to alert you what problem his team has identified. My wife and I will not take our cars anywhere else, and refer people to Mike all the time. He has never over-charged me, is completely honest and ethical and you know he'll fix your car's problem! I give Mike my highest recommendation!!!
Just returned today (October 1)from Mike's place, having repaired my wife's Jaguar. Sure, it was more costly than I had expected, but these guys know what they are doing and are honest and fair. There was a lot wrong with the auto and they walk you through the issues, show you the problems, and then work with you. I will always take our cars to these guys because I trust them. If you want a fair inspection and repair at a reasonable price, go see Mike and his guys. Best in the business anywhere around Conejo Valley (ps when we had my wife's jaguar towed last weekend to Giant Oaks, the tow driver at Roy's Towing told us that this is where he takes his cars too! I think that speaks for itself!).

I am a nanny and needed a safe reliable car to drive children around. I found a Prius and called Giant Oaks for a check, since they had the best ratings. From the moment I spoke to Jeff I could see that the stars were deserved. He was kind and understanding and offered to do a complete check up For Free. I brought it in at the designated time on a Sat morning (not a normal business day but exceptions are made). The guys were on time and welcoming. Jose and the other mechanic got to the car immediately and took their time to do a thorough and comprehensive check. After they gave it thier ok I felt confident I was making a sound purchase. As if all that wasn't enough, Jeff called me the following Mon. just to make sure I was happy. So here is another 5 star rating, you guys more then earned it.

This shop is awesome. The owner, Mike, has always come through for me. I even moved to Simi, but still only take my car to Giant Oak. I usually freak out when anything goes wrong with my car, but then I take it to mike, it turns out to be something less than major and he fixes it for a fair price.
He doesn't overcharge for the work he does and more importantly, he doesn't offer to do work that doesn't need to be done.

It's so nice to finally find an honest reliable shop to take my car to. We always know that whatever needs to be fixed on the car, Mike and his staff will find it, and fix it for a fair price. We have been taking our cars there for a couple years and have never had a bad experience. My last encounter was the one that is making me write this review. I took my old beater in to see if it could be kept running for another few months. The check engine light was on and it needed to be smogged. MIke and his guys spent hours trying to fix stuff. He was completely honest with me and told me that it was time to let the car go, that it wasn't worth fixing. Then he didn't charge me. He said he felt bad because it couldn't be fixed. I was stunned. All businesses should take a lesson; this is the way you get lots of referrals and return business. I can't say enough good things about this shop!

Giant Oak Automotive is the place to go for all car repairs. Mike, the owner, is honest and an excellent diagnostician. When you take your car to him he will fix the problem and nothing else. No worries about him trying to add work you don't need. I have been going to him for about 12 years and have not had a bad experience yet. I have called him numerous times to check things out at the last minute and he's always come through. You feel like family. I even have my oil changed here. Can't say enough good things about this place.

Mike is the best. I'm in Burbank but grew up in Thousand Oaks and Mike always took the best car of our cars. I will only take my car to him at Giant Oaks. Seems to be the only honest car place left. I have even taken my car to him in addition to going in for regular maintenance at my car's dealership because i knew his word was the real truth. He's been very helpful when I needed help in a squeeze. My whole family will only go to Giant Oaks! Love em!
