I had my prius car serviced at RCAR. What a wonderful shop I ever visited. The services was excellent quick and fast an was very courteous. I wouldn't took my car any other place. Thank you RCAR until our next visit.

If I could, it'll give it 4.5 stars. Summary: Pros: Job is completed without major follow up in timely manner (2.5 weeks) Cons: lack of communication for status of my car. I had to call to get continual update (even though I requested for updates every couple of days). Needed one follow up for fixing of minor issue. My issue started when my car started sounding funny. Should of known then to take it into a shop for diagnostic. Three days later, on the freeway, it shut down on me with a 'check engine' light. Coasted to a stop and the engine started back up but was wary to drive it again. The tow company was going to tow to my house but he suggested I take it to a shop he knows for diagnostic. I obliged and he took it to RCAR in Redlands (first time at RCar for me). I think auto-repair shops are a crap shoot. From my past experience, all promise big but seldom deliver on their said promise. I believe it's just to get you in the door and then you are basically at their mercy. I'm a DIY kind of guy and will do the basics (brake, radiators, starters, alternators, oil/tranny changes) but big issues, I'll go to the shop. In this case, diagnostic shows that my head gasket blew and oil mixed with water (although when my engine died on the freeway, there was no white smoke coming out of the tailpipe). It was attributed to a slow leaking radiator. Eventually I decided to swap out the engine for a replacement. Mines was at 155K and was told I would get an engine around 50K-75K. After two weeks, I got the car back. Drove it for about 5 miles and the check engine light came on for 'O2 sensor high'. Also, got a leak for some clear fluid (might be oil). I took it back the next morning and then got the car back at end of day. I was wary if other issues might come up but so far, so good. It's been over a month, over 1500 miles (including one long trip without new check engine light or fluid leak). Pricing is a little high compared to other shops for engine replacement but it came with good warranty on the replacement engine @3yr/36,000 miles. Overall, I will pay for quality when I can.

Honest, trustworthy, and expedient. What more could you want from an auto mechanic? I'm done with dealerships and jiffy lube and everywhere else. These guys rock. April 2016 update. Jake brought my Bronco back to life after it hadn't run for 7 years. Reasonable prices and good, quick work. RCAR #1!

Those guys are amazing! Had a car for spark plugs / timing belt replacement - they did it at very reasonable price. Can't believe how smooth engine works now - it is purrs like a kitty. This actually means they not only replaced sparks and timing belt - but they did extra step and properly tuned it. That's a first class service and I hope to work with them in future.

Jake has taken care of my boyfriend and I a few times now. They are extremely straightforward about their charges and don't just do the repairs and then tell you "Oh yeah we also found this, this and this so that would cost another $200 bucks" (which has happened to me at a couple other repair places). They got his non-op working for $800 and it runs awesome. Again, they told us $800 upfront and didn't charge us anything extra when we went to pick it up. Love these guys!

The first time I brought my car to RCAR, it was to fix something that I wasn't able to accomplish on my own. RCAR looked at the situation, gave me a wonderful price, and fixed my car in a reasonable amount of time. On a second visit, I brought my SUV in after receiving an outrageous quote from a nearby competitor. RCAR provided an excellent second opinion, gave me a reasonable price that put its competitor to shame, and assured me the repair would be done right. RCAR made me feel like I was part of the family. They have a friendly attitude and go out of their way to satisfy the customer. RCAR will be my first choice for all current and future auto repair needs. They are truly second to none in Redlands, CA

2/10/2016. So I waited last minute to do a smog check, my own fault wahhhhh, and went during my lunch break. Found this place online and went in. They took it as a walk in and had it checked quickly. My car passed wooooo. Such great service to the car and customer service.
2/11/2016. Came back again the next day to get my oil changed. Again they were flexible and able to get my car right in during my lunch break, thank the car gods. We're able to do it in a timely fashion and I was able to get my car back before my lunch break ended. Again great service to my car and great customer service. Will definitely be recommending to my coworkers since I work nearby :)

I was recommend to come here by a coworker. I was new to the area and needed a mechanic. I'm a young female with little auto knowledge and wanted to find a mechanic I could trust that does sound work and wouldn't over sell me on repairs. Well I found one.
Juan is so helpful and honest. I have had my rear shocks replaced here and they worked with me to get it done on my schedule so I didn't have to go a day without a car. A year later I noticed my car was losing radiator fluid and the reservoir kept going empty. He thought it would be a $10 radiator cap repair but did a thorough inspection nonetheless and then called me into the shop to show me the bad news. My car had 140,000 miles and my radiator was badly leaking. He gave me a new cap and scheduled me to come in on Saturday for the radiator replacement so I wouldn't have to get a ride to work during the week. Two days later I realized my car can't make it until Saturday with how fast it's leaking and I can't afford to be stranded. Juan got me in the same day and kept his guys an hour late to get the job done.
I'm so thankful for their honesty and good work. All of my business is going to Juan and I hope yours will too.

After trying several other shops that were having technical difficulties. We stopped in here for a smog report. Terrible luck. Their technician did not perform the test properly and quickly reported our vehicle as a "gross polluter". 20 months ago we had the entire exhaust system redone and had new catalytic converters put on the car. (at a different shop) Earlier in the day, a previous shop we went to for the smog test said that it would pass, but during the actual test, their equipment broke. Now there are major hoops we must jump through with a referee station just to get this cleared up. If you are looking for a competent shop to perform your smog test - KEEP LOOKING. Once their incompetent tech messes up your report, you will be dealing with the same mess that we are.

I never use "pleasant" to describe any car service or repair, but I am making an exception. Dan at Star Smog Pros at 1637 Redlands Boulevard made having my car smogged PLEASANT!! He did the work lightening fast, filled out all of the annoying information on the car for me, and was positive and friendly!! I spent more time dreading getting the smog check done than it took to do it. The price is right--especially if you go to their site to get the discount coupon which you do NOT have to print!! I highly recommend them!!!

Very dishonest, I do not recommend. I'll start from the beginning. On a Sunday, a few weeks ago I was off and looking to get my car smogged in the morning. I knew Pepboys down the street offered smog services for $30 WITHOUT a coupon. However they weren't smogging until later and I was with a friend who wanted to catch an early movie at Krikorean before his fiance got home. So we went here and the guy quoted me $57 for a test. I asked if they would price match since down the street pepboys does it for $30. He said no they don't. At this time, I was not aware on
that this exact smog shop offers a $31 smog coupon. Anyway, I was in a hurry so I regrettably paid it. My car failed smog on high NOx emissions. They said they would retest for $30, and I quote: "the retest is cheaper than anywhere else, so just bring it back." Ok. Fast forward a month later, and I've fixed an exhaust leak, and replaced my o2 sensors, and I'm ready for my retest. This time I'm aware that there is a $31 coupon online. So I walk to the front desk and ask the guy how much it is for a retest. He thinks for a minute and asks me what year. I point to my car out front and say its a 1998 Saturn. He spends another minute thinking and says $57. Ok, that's NOT what I was originally told a month ago. I then tell him I have a coupon for $31. He says no, that doesnt appy to my year. (The coupon states 95 and newer, my car is a 98...) He then proceeds to tell me he can't smog me anyway because their machine is down. I looked outside and saw a car getting smogged just fine. Talk about very dishonest business practices. I do not recommend.

Nope.
This place wanted to flag my car as 'modified' since I had repaired a lightly splitting vacuum line with electrical tape....even and flush too, while maintaining perfect function.
If you have test only, be prepared to have your entire engine compartment gone over with a magnifying glass while their deemed 'mechanic' ravages through trying to find anything and everything to flag you for.
'Thank you, that will be $60 dollars'
'Oh, but we'll only charge you $38 for a retest...plus $8 for the certificate''.
Nice little angle you guys got going on here.
Don't be a victim, take your business across the street to pep boys who now do smogs...even test only, and for a much lower price.

One of the cleanest smog test only stations I've been to. Courteous and friendly owners who know it's about customer service with the economy were in. I didn't have my DMV records they needed to scan but are still able to enter my info to manually so I don't have to run home to look for it. Saved me the inconvienence there!
Inviting and comfy waiting room with surprisingly appropriate wall decor. They even took me in after business hours after they were suppose to close. There isn't much you can say but a positive experience. Only quirk is they are more pricier than the competition in the area.

The worst smog shop in Redlands... I made a HUGE mistake by not waiting until G &G was open the next day, and boy did I learn my lesson. Stay away!
I even verified my opinion with a neighboring business owner (foreign auto repair-- no smog) and he completely agreed, and he uses G & G also, and I did not know that until today. I guess I deserve what I got, but maybe I can save someone else from a similar experience.
I have NO affiliation with G & G, or any auto shop, but when you find a good shop, stick with them, or suffer like I did.

I've had my wife's Kia Sportage smogged twice here - and will keep coming back here again and again.
Located on Alabama Street in Redlands, right down the street from the K Mart past Redlands Blvd and a former H & E Hardware store; the Redlands Test Only center is in a little plaza that's easy to miss. The wife and I found this place on the recommendation of another repair shop that we trust in Redlands.
All they do here are smog tests. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. If you haven't had the chance to warm your car up properly before the test, they will do it for you. This is almost unheard of. Most places will smog check your car not caring if it's warmed up or cold - knowing that a cold car will fail the test almost guaranteed.
The price for the test and certificate is $60. A bit more expensive than some places. But here your in and out fast. The service is excellent...and if your car fails smog check, they will help you explore programs to get your car fixed at a discount. They know all the ins and outs.

Made my 4th visit to Redlands Smog on June 22nd for a routine smog check. Received another excellent service, as usual.
They don't pressure & try to up-sell you a bunch of services that you don't need, as I encountered many times pulling into a dealer's service drive.
I drove in 8am & my car was done by 8:45.

On Saturday morning, at the last minute, realized our license renewal need a smog check and found Star here on Yelp at 7:30 a.m. Hopped in the 2007 Toyota Land Cruiser to get to Star when they opened at 8:00. They got me in & out of the smog check in 15 minutes without hassle to go on to the AAA for the registration later in the morning. Started in panic only to find the registration process was a picnic!

How do you rate a smog place? It's not like I have a 30 point check list of things I look for in a smog place. I came here because I saw a good review on yelp. I passed, so that's a good sign that they aren't trying to screw everybody who walks through the door. It cost me a little less than $60. Very fast, but that probably has more to do with the fact that there weren't too many people ahead of me. I'll probably be going back here for all my smog checks.
