FINALLY i found a trustworthy mechanic...

with a repair shop i feel comfortable going to!! Let me start by saying, This is the first review i have ever written. ever- i feel i need to spread the word, especially to all females, and car illiterate people such as myself. So, I have had my car for 6 years, since then i have had numerous problems, and a complete rebuild of my engine! a year and a half ago i started to experience, again, the same problems which led to the rebuilding of my engine which cost me very close to $5,000 altogether!! I towed my car to a few of the local mechanics here in the Manayunk area whom all told me that it would cost me *thousands* of dollars to repair! i did not have the $$ for this so i had the car sitting in the road for a year not knowing what to do and since i had just paid off the car i did not want to just get rid of it. so i waited. I met Chuck a couple of weeks ago and explained to him my situation. he gave me a rundown of what the potential problems could be, and said first things first, replace the battery and if it turns over, or hopefully starts, we will go from there. being that my car did not run in the first place i couldn't get it to the shop to do this. so he offered to come to where the car was on his off time and put it in for me! ( a mechanic making house calls?? unheard of!)so he did, and it started! so in less than a week my car was back to life, running beautifully and has cost me less than $300!!! Much better than the other estimates of thousands of dollars i got in the past! Chuck walked me through, and showed me step by step what he was doing, AND why! he didn't try to scam me because im a female and didn't know much about cars by adding extra unnecessary repairs, (which happens more often than not!) I am so thankful to have stumbled upon this repair shop!!! Chuck and his staff are VERY friendly and attentive, which makes going to the mechanic less stressful than it already is! I have been to many mechanics in my day and this was the first time i didn't feel as if i was being ripped off and being taken advantage of. I will never go to any other mechanic. I highly recommend Chuck's garage! Thanks Chuck.

Accurate, Reliable, Affordable

and did I mention pleasant to deal with. In 11/2 years of taking my older Mazda to Chuck and his wife for maintenance and repairs I have never received anything other than high quality, timely, prompt, long lasting work with every effort to hold down costs. Couldn't ask for more in a neighborhood garage but would travel for this one.

If I ever moved out of East Falls I would still take my cars to Chuck's Garage. Not only are his prices more than competitive, the confidence and trust he provides is worth every penny and more. He even saved me several hundred dollars a while back because he found a more efficient fix to what would have otherwise been a costly electrical issue. I recommend Chuck's to everyone

RIGHT away he saw what it was and offered to help me set it back right- for free. Just being a nice guy. It worked! He has my business now!

Chuck is lovely. He always fixes what is wrong with my car, will always tell me multiple options including the cheaper one, and has patched little things for me for free, like when my bumper was dragging and when my mud flap had popped down onto the ground. I'm moving to West Philly but still think I'll be bringing my car back here for service.

I was moving from Philly to New York and got assigned Chuck's garage as the pick up spot for my Uhaul van. I was a bit wary at first because I had never heard of the place and because I had originally selected a different pick-up location, but due to availability got sent here instead.
Chuck demonstrated a level of professionalism and excellence that deserves to be recognized. He runs a small business and is very busy but I had no clue until I actually went down there personally to pick up the van, because he was so courteous and patient on the phone.
Likewise, he was as amiable and patient in person, and he really went out of his way to accommodate me (I needed to pick up the van a night early but have the system register it as being picked up the next morning so that I would have adequate time to return it in NYC).
I give him 4 stars not 5 because I can't speak to his abilities as a mechanic, having never had to take my car to him for repairs, but in my dealings with him he was honest and helpful and seemed to legitimately be trying to forge a good name for his business.

I've waited a while to write this review in hopes that things would be made right at Chuck's, but it doesn't appear that that is going to happen so here goes.
We've taken our truck to Chuck for a few years now and we thought things were alright.
The first indication that something was amiss was last year when he inspected our truck and everything passed inspection. A week after the inspection we had to go to the dealer for a warranty issue. The dealer found our front brakes to be all but gone.
We had the dealership do them because we were there, but a call to Chuck was in order for sure.
His response was "There was still some meat on them."
We gave him the benefit of the doubt, though I was skeptical.
Fast Forward to a few months ago.
We started having strange charging issues with the truck as well as an air conditioning issue. We took it to Chuck to have him look it over.
At first he said there was nothing wrong and charged us for the diagnostic.
A week later the truck was dead in front of the house. We got it back down to him and he re-diagnosed it and said we needed a battery.
No problem, replace it.
He charged us for the diagnostic again and the battery.
After a phone call, he credited us for the diagnostic.
The Check Engine Light was still on and he said if it didn't reset in a few days to bring it back and he'd override it.
Two days ago truck was totally dead again.
We had it towed to a different garage and found out out alternator was shot.
I'm not a mechanic, but we knew something was wrong. We left the truck with Chuck for a week and said, no matter the cost or how long it takes, just figure out what the problem is.
He said he'd drive it himself. (We know he didn't at least more that a mile, we checked the mileage.)
For him to return it to us with the Check Engine Light still on was his first mistake, and I have to believe that if there was a charging issue the alternator would be one of the things I check.
He's a nice guy, and I'm sure he means well, but I think I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

Very convenient to have them in the neighborhood. Most times I can call in the morning and they have time to get in a quick oil change that day. I've never had any problems and pricing seems decent. Nice guys too.

I was looking for a local place to have an oil change after a not so great experience at a nationwide chain. Upon Yelping, I found Chucks and called to see if he could do an oil change that same day. With a busy schedule he was able to put my car as a priority and ensured the job was done right. It was a really pleasant and personal experience! If you are tired of the commercial place where you are just a number; I recommend giving Chucks a try! Good to know we have a reliable and trustworthy mechanic in the area! I will definitely be going to him in the future!

Fine for a oil change, inspection, or quick fix. The guys can be friendly most the time but come off like they are to busy to be bothered. I still will go someone else for major repairs, but glad to have these guys close by.
