Had both my cars smogged here. They were fast and efficient. One of my cars failed due to a bad catalytic converter, which had to be replaced. It then passed just fine the second time around. I'll be back here again.

After explaining that we had just had AAA jump our Battery on a1998 Chevy Malibu that had been sitting for several months, the Tech turned off the auto! We desperately needed to get a SMOG REPORT FOR DMV, Good or Bad deadline next day! They did not have tools nor a Battery Charger. We even walked next door to Midas and they said no problem we will charge for FREE! But no way to remove Battery. We were even trying to recharge a Battery Jump Box we had with us that was too low on charge. Tech had his own auto there but refused to use! Now we are blocking only one of his stalls. It was 95 degrees and he made us move the car to next business parking!
I called AAA again and told them what had rudely happened and we were STUCK! AAA within 15 min. Extremely important he addressed VIP for us and exclaimed why no tools or Battery Jumper! The car did not Pass and we paid $58 and a Free Pass to come back!!!!! Both AAA techs checked our auto just needed general matienence and Return of Battery under warranty. We spent over 2 Hours just waiting for VIP to help us garner a SMOG notice so the vehicle would not be towed with $450 in fees looming. This is the WORST SERVICES EVER .TWO WOMEN were disrespected and treated unfairly. I wanted to leave and go elsewhere, anywhere. We were low on GAS, Time, Patience! Very Sad in this Day and Age!
Heed my warranty, I mean Warning!

I called yesterday to schedule an appointment to get my car smogged after the last location about a block or so away only went by appointments first and I didn't feel like waiting.
So, I called VIP Smog and the man told me they just opened for the day and no one was there yet Score I jam there real quick and was greeted immediately. Handed over my paperwork and filled out paperwork while I was doing that my car was being pulled in to get the smog done. Less than 10-15 mins later I pass my smog and I was on my way. The price is great since the last time I got a smog the prices have gone up but for $48 and your in and out that is perfectly fine with me. The next time I need a smog I'm going here this is the fastest I have ever got a smog normally I'm waiting like an hour before my smog is done.
They also have a yelp $10 off check in offer awesome!!! ;)

Ran here from the DMV once afternoon because I misunderstood my paperwork and needed a smog. There was no wait, the customer service was excellent, and he had it done in time for me to run back to the DMV and turn in the form all before 5pm. Definitely recommend these guys!

I bought a car from out of state and had to get a smog certificate for the DMV. VIP smog took great care of me. This is a family owned business and it shows with the friendly service. They were very careful of my BMW and got me in and out quickly and at a reasonable cost. There was even a yelp coupon for checking in at this business!

Super fast and friendly service. I came in with my renewal paperwork was in and out in under 20 minutes with one car ahead of me. I was somewhat nervous because this was the first smog ever for my vehicle. But they were so fast and efficient, my worries melted away. Fast, Friendly, and Cheapest in the area. After driving to two closer random smog check businesses I am so glad the lines were too long for me and left. VIP has a large warm waiting room, friendly employees and the cheapest rates I had seen that day. Walked in, filled out paper work and car was already being pulled in. I was already so pleased I checked them out on yelp...Where I found the $10 check in COUPON!!! Also one on their website. So, $48 for my van (more expensive than a car). Thank you, next time I will not put off getting my car smogged!!

I waited for about 10 minutes for the work to be performed, and was on my way after about 15 minutes total.

Decent service, but the mechanic gave me the biggest stink eyes north of the border because my catalytic converter wasn't acceptable. It was stolen and replaced before those regulations were in place and I don't appreciate being judged a criminal for no reason.

I have brought two of my vehicles and two of an older friend of mines here and I have the utmost faith in their services. I have used several other smog stations and have been told so many different stories and problems and they always try to upcharge me for something. I was told I needed a gas cap by another place, I put the original one on before I had it checked here and there was no issue with the cap. BS charges by dishonest people at the other place.. My vehicles always pass with no problems in about 15 minutes here. You will notice the only bad reviews on this place involve a coupon, That tells you the place is judged on their work and normal prices. I have paid more at other businesses. Give them a try and you will be pleased.

I took my van here today for a smog check. I did not have an appointment, but only waited 40 minutes. The waiting room was large, comfortable, and they had WiFi. They honored an expired Pennysaver coupon, which saved me a bundle. There is a restroom in the garage. I will return.
They are a STAR station, which will make a difference in 2013.

I've brought all my vehicles to this Carmichael location. Customer service is excellent, and the wait time for vehicle completion is always less than 30 minutes. They usually have a coupon available for $10-$15 off, (penny saver, web site, including yelp, etc.).This is a Test Only facility, so they have no incentive to fail you and then turn around and charge you to repair it. I highly recommend this business.

Terrible customer service, I just left and will never be coming back here. I had a competitors coupon for a SMOG check, and on their ad it says they will match the lower price. WRONG. He started telling me that it would cost more than even their coupon I brought in. He also kept saying I'll keep my fingers crossed that it will pass, as there's no free retest... Even though they advertise a free retest if it fails. Waste of my time. As I walked out he said "ok I'll match the price for you" at which point I already decided to take my money elsewhere. You just lost another customer, congratulations!

Don't trust that Penny Saver Deal!!!You gonna end up paying even more than you have to pay without any deals. I had a terrible experience at VIP smog check star station. I was offered by Jong, who works there, to pay only $40, the smog certificate included if it's gonna pass at the first time. I was sure that it's gonna pass. But he smiled and said "How you can be so sure, it can fail..." Then after he worked on it he came with the same smile and said "I told you it can fail". Then he offered to give me one retest if I'm gonna pay $10 that day, so I paid $49.75, but when I came back in a week he said that I have to pay again $8.75 on top of that. I wasn't agree to pay this price, and he said that I had no choice, either I had to pay him or I had to go to another place and pay a full price. And when I did the simple math I understood that I was screwed. And this penny saver deal cost me almost $60!!!

This is a great place to get your car smog test done. There was no wait, they were very nice, quick and had wonderful prices. The location is around the corner from my house so it made it easy to fit it into my work day. The waiting room is very comfortable but I barely made it through a chapter in my book before they were done. I will definitely be going back next time I need a test.

THIEF!!! Do not go here. They stole my son's fieldtrip money out of my center console and then denied it when I confronted them. I had just put the money there a few hours before. When I Got back in the car after the service my center console was open. Without much thought I closed the center console and continued on with my day. Later that day when I went to grab the money it was gone. When I confronted the owner, he did not want to hear it. He just explained to me that he and his mechanics do not open any compartments in the car. It begs the question: Why was my center console open when I got back into my car if, "he (the owner) and his mechanics do not open any of the car's (client's) compartments?"...

Went to vehicle inspection plus to get smog check everything goes great except the gentleman says you have the wrong catalytic converter installed on your vehicle and that because of that my car would not pass smog, well off to marco muffler where I had it put on, Mark at Marco muffler tells me, no worrys have it figured out for you, finds out it's the right one, not the wrong one I go back too the smog check and show them that it's the right one after all, they rerun it, it passes then he charges me an extra 10.00 dollars saying he forgot to charge me for the certificate...wait, what ? I just spent 4 hours of my day running to a muffler shop that put the right catalytic converter on in the first place and now your charging me an extra 10.00 bucks WOW Really I think my cars and money will go elsewhere from now on thx for nothing ......enjoy
