Car problems are the worst. Especially when you own an enigmatic European car.
Mike will diagnose your car for free with his readily available vagcom tool. He was nice enough to clear my faults with it last time I came in.
Mike has always treated me with the upmost respect, explaining every repair in full detail. He even keeps the parts he replaced and gives them to you during checkout after service. I went in for a catalytic converter, but came out with my smog done and ready to go from his shop next door. He's always willing to help.
Whether it's a tune, exhaust, or a breakdown, go to mike for your Audi/VW needs.

I don't usually write reviews, but I was compelled. Not only was the price the lowest, but the quality was the best. I have a Porsche Cayman S and I needed the rear lowered. Mike did the job like a pro.
Not only that, I have been having problem with steering wheel vibration, and Mike went out of his way to talk to me about it, and what he thought was wrong with it. He talked and explained everything to me for about 30 minutes. He did this enthusiastically and free of charge (since it wasn't related to what I actually paid him for). When I left the shop, Mike told me to call him if he could be of assistance in any way. Fantastic!

I cant believe I haven't reviewed Mike's shop after all the excellent service he has provided me and the wife over the years. This is the one mechanic I refer all my friends to and ALL my friends thank me for introducing them.
And a good mechanic is hard to find. Really, imagine what you would want from the perfect mechanic and Mike is even better than that. Honest, hard working, knows cars better than anyone, friendly, reasonable and very accommodating. He always goes above and beyond with his service.
Today, I took the Audi in just hoping Mike can run diagnostics to see what was wrong with the car. I was just expecting to get a quote and to find out if it was safe to continue driving over the weekend. He drove off and 25 minutes later, came back with the car fixed. He told me I shouldn't drive the car around in that condition because I was causing damage to the engine, so he repaired the car with a used part he had, and told me to come in next week to swap it out with the new part. Seriously, who does that?
With service like this, obviously word gets around and Mike is much busier than he used to be. I would recommend calling in to set up an appointment for any service.

Mike was recommended to me by a friend when a Audi dealer tripped to stiff me on a repair. I have an 2005 S4 so i took it to Mike and have not been anywhere else since. I live in Long Beach and don't mind the drive because i know i will be taken care of.

Went in again this last week and received the same excellent service and communication. Mike is a great guy who works extremely hard to do good work. I really appreciate his straightforwardness and honesty in taking care of my car. Mike Kondo is the best! I have had Mike work on several of my cars; a Calloway Volkswagen Sirocco, an Austin Healy Sprite, a Buick Skylark and a Porsche 912. It is amazing how Mike can know so much about such different cars, from a Buick to a Porsche he knows his stuff. He is patient, supper organized and reasonably priced. I am super picky about who works on my cars and I would trust Mike with any car project. I have been talking to him about adding performance parts and car tuning. Too often when I talk to mechanics they just want to sell parts, with Mike he took a very analtic approach;
1. Let's Dyno the car (Mike has his own dyno)
2. Let's look at the results
3. Let's come up with a plan, "what kind of performance are you looking for?"
4. Let's starting working on the plan and dyno and test as we go
Perfect! Just what you want in an auto tuner!

Mike at Canyon Racer Motorsports is simply amazing. I have taken my Audi there now several times and every time I was thoroughly impressed with his service. This afternoon I was driving home from LA when my Audi started to stutter every time I accelerated. Fearing the worst I decided to just stop at Canyon Racer and see if Mike could help. When I got there and explained my situation Mike stopped what he was doing, jumped in my car, took it for a brief test drive, pulled it into the shop, replaced the defective part, took it for another brief test drive and gave me back the keys saying that everything was okay again. The whole thing took less than 15 minutes and, even better, it cost less than $100. At Audi Mission Viejo I would have paid $140 alone for the diagnosis, and I probably would have had to wait several days to get it done and pay several hundred dollars for the repair.
If you want prompt help and great customer service at a very good price, go to Canyon Racer Motorsports. You will be in good hands!

Mike is the best mechanic you can find to do any work on your car. My Subaru BRZ was due for its first oil change and I didn't want just anyone working on it. I had heard great things about this place, but wasn't sure if they worked on Japanese cars since all reviews were through audi and vw owners. I called him up and he said it was fine.
While waiting in the lobby, I went through the album of cars he's worked on and saw that he's worked on everything from your average daily drivers to classics (67 ac 247 cobras), exotics (R8's), and imports (rx-7 fcs, miatas)!
Mike is a very friendly guy and gave me the lowest price out of all the dealers that I had shopped around for. He can also help make reccomendations on how you can mod your car if you plan on doing that in the future and also has a dyno if you would like to see your cars running diagnostics.
Will definitely ONLY be taking my car here for service.

I called up early in the morning worried of my tire suddenly got out of balance and makes streaking sounds, Mike let me come over right away without any promises it will be fixed right away, when i got on the shop without any further a do he took my key lift my car and check and after like less than 30 mins its done and to my surprise charging me nothing!!!
My way of saying thank you again for being so kind and accommodating even though I know it was a busy day for them. No wonder why all the ratings are always 5 star :)

There is only one way to say it.
Mike is the best!!!!
I have ordered and installed Borla exhaust for my porsche and he made it so easy and comfortable for me. He was spot on with the delivery and installation times and fees.
Since i got my car new i always ALWAYS got things done at the dealer but in this case i am more than pleased with the results!!! Now i can rev it up with more joy!! It feels like i have a choir singing in the back!!!
I definitely recommand this place for everyone.

Mike and Mike (there are two Mikes, same shop!) were both so very courteous and helpful. I was in the shop for a total of thirty-five minutes, while my car got a badly needed oil change, and young Mike gave it a thorough going-over, and read the 'check engine' codes which was my reason for bringing it in. He gave me a rundown of the codes, sold me oil to top off at a steal of a price, and then a short list of things that I should get looked at when I get back to Sacramento(where I live, and where I desperately needed to drive back to tomorrow!).
Short version, excellent service, and both the Mike's were superior PEOPLE. I very much hope that this review encourages you to take ALL of your automotive business to them, they deserve it, and you deserve the excellence they provide.
PS - in the thirty minutes I was there, two LIFELONG customers gave me their reccomendations for the shop, and stressed how honest and dependable Mike has always been.

I really can't say enough good things about Mike. Very honest and passionate mechanic/owner. His prices are among the best in the area and his quality is easily the best.
I really love talking to Mike because unlike most car shops he knows what he is doing and he loves it. He's done a lot of small jobs for me for Free. Most shops would have charged me. He does in house dyno'ing and its no BS. His Dyno I like to call the heart breaker because it really shows you what real world horsepower you are putting down.
His shop is nicely sized and in an excellent upscale location. I always keep a few of his cards in my wallet in case someone asks me for a good shop.
As good as it gets for a shop, IMO.

I scheduled to have my 60K service done. I cannot help but give only praise to Michael and Canyon Racer Motorsports. Very detailed in explaining what he did, what was done, what could be done, and things he noticed on my GTI. Makes you feel at home. Great Guy, Great Shop, Great service.

I own a 2008 Volkswagen GTI and I've searched web forums for trusted mechanics. I published a post on a new thread, stating that my car was due for it's 40K Maintenance Service and my DSG Transmission also needed the service done. I received 3 replies, in which they all referred me to Mike @ Canyon Racer Motor sports.
I decided to give Mike's shop a try, and here are the main reasons why:
I checked out Mike's website and saw the location. It worked perfect for me. His shop was 3 miles away from my workplace (Irvine, Ca.), which meant I did not have to miss a day of work just waiting for my car. I was able to drop it off in the morning (Mike even offered me a ride back to work) and I was picked up by a coworker.
I emailed Mike earlier in the week for a price quote and my jaw dropped. The price was nearly half the price the Dealership would charge. He quoted me for about $550'ish for Parts + Manual Labor + and Taxes.
The day I dropped off my car for service, he called me at around 11AM to tell me my car would be finished around 1PM. I got dropped off and picked up my car at around 2:30PM. He went over the checklist, notified me of things I might need changed on the next oil change. He gave me a rundown of my break pads and showed me what to look for.
I supplied my own engine oil and oil filters (which costs me no more than $60 dollars), and the price of the entire service was $100 less than what was quoted.
My car is in good shape. I wanted to have this service done before my 3 hour long drive to my parent's house. Perfect way to end the week.
Mike was very nice, and came off very genuine. I plan to do my next oil changes and any mods done at his shop. I would recommend him to anyone in the area.

Okay, I'm going out on a limb here because my car's still at Mike's shop and my part isn't scheduled to arrive for another couple of days, but Mike so far has been outstanding in both over the phone and in person.
We have a 2000 Audi TT that's up there in age so I've been looking around for an honest place to take the car, one that won't charge me an arm and a leg for service. We even once took the car to a Euro place in Diamond Bar and they wanted to charge us $120 for an oil change!!!!
Back to the subject though. You'll find Mike's Automotive on the web under "Canyon Racer Motorsports". I scoured the web for a few Audi TT enthusiast forums and many of them swear by Mike at Canyon Racer Motorsports. I figured I didn't have much to lose since most of the kudos point to Mike being honest and very reasonable.
Call Mike if you have a problem with your Euro or meet him in person, and you'll immediately see why he's so revered among mechanics. He even waited after-hours for us when our tow truck driver was slowed by traffic.
I have nothing but good things to say about Mike at Canyon Racer Motorsports.

Can't say enough good things about Mike Kondo! He has already saved me over $1500 in my last 3 visits. The first time was to get front brakes and rotors done, the second was my scheduled maintenance/oil change and finally rear brakes on my recent visit. During my oil change he told me that my rear brakes were getting low and to avoid having to replace both rotors and pads to make sure and get to him once the system light came on. I did just this and again just floored by the honest at cost pricing he quoted me. I know if I had gone to the dealer it would have easily cost more than 3x that amount...It's good to know you can get quality and honest service like that in this day and age!!! I hope this shop is around forever... =D

Mike is awesome. In last few years he did the following: great job installing cat-back exhaust system on my VW Jetta 1.8T, then great job flashing the ECU with Revo software on my VW. Then he installed the Eisenmann exhaust on my friend's bimmer. Then he installed the exhaust system on my friend's 911 Carrera S (997). I have a Mini Cooper now and I am planning to see him about a performance exhaust installation.

Mike dropped my Avant on coil-overs last month and the stance is now perfect. Went back recently for service items and had a list of repair items throughout the car. He jotted them down and fixed all the issues. He even took some pictures of the repair process so I could see what was actually done. Mike is on top of his game and it shows. I'm happy to have found a shop I can trust and an owner-mechanic that takes pride in his work.

Mike is the best, hands down! He's knowledgable, caring and honest. I never question his pricing, diagnostics, or suggestions. Having an older Audi can be costly and frustrating, but Mike helps you through it. He knows his parts and doesn't put crap pieces back into the car, rather he uses his knowledge and replaces with higher quality parts for the same price if not less than OEM. Plus, he's always willing to answer questions and explains things in English, not car lingo (for those of us that don't understand it all). Lucky for me he's down the street, but I would drive a great distance to have him work on my car. I refer all my friends that need a good mechanic. As sad is it is, it's hard to find an honest mechanic these days that understands the complexity of German cars. Lucky for us, we have Mike @ Canyon Racer. Plus, the reviews don't lie. Mike is wonderful with all of his customers. Thanks Mike and keep up the good work.

Mike is definitely the best at what he does! He for sure knows his stuff! I highly recommend Canyon Racer to anyone in need of maintenance and performance for their cars. Mike is THE BEST....period! We are so blessed to have found him (a friend referred us thankfully). I dont know why I am just now writing a review about Mike...I have brought all my cars to Mike for about 2+ years....Im not a very good writer...but lets just say...Mike is the Best freakin VW/Audi..whatever car you drive Mechanic...he has the best prices around and very honest very informative. I do not trust anyone else working on my car....for the most part I dont even trust myself to work on my own car...Mike is the only one....I tell VW/Audi owners about Mike all the time...because a shop this good should/need to be around for a very very long time.

So I am currently waiting at Canyon Racer Motorsports while my A4 is being worked on. I recently learned that there are 2 Mike's in this shop. Regardless, both Mike's are outstanding! They are very nice and provide outstanding service! Very reputable mechanics.
If you ever need work done to your car, I highly recommend this place! Great work and the prices are definitely reasonable!

Mike is legit, I read nothing but great things about him from more than one forum. He and I had a few phone conversations regarding downpipes and REVO tuning for my MKV Jetta 2.0T. He is extremely knowledgeable. I decided to go ahead and let him install a downpipe for me, while I contemplate getting a REVO tune. His labor is slightly less than most mechanics, and his work is top-notch. He was done very quickly too. I highly recommend him!

I took my VW Passat in for a coolant issue. Michael diagnosed the problem and also performed a 100,000 mile service. This was the first time I have ever been shown the old parts that needed repairing. Michael came across as very genuine and skilled at what he does. I appreciated his willingness to explain things without making me feel like a moron. I would absolutely recommend his shop to a friend or family member.
