I was told about the place from a friend. Came in for a smog check and oil change. They do lots of repair work there. I can tell it's a busy shop. What I like about the place is that I felt I wasn't being pushed out of the way. Erik and Ozzy where explaining how the smog check was done to me, which was cool.

Friendly & Fair

Our old car failed a smog check - very frustrating. The mechanics here kept at it and eventually got the NOX emissions to well beneath the required limits. The bill was fair, I thought. The staff was courteous and professional. Good job guys!

I came in to smog a car to change ownership, and had a great experience! I loved being able to make an appointment online, that the staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and that the price was so reasonable.
I had previously visited a DIFFERENT place, and was unable to smog the car. The car had recently had some work done that reset the computer and didn't have enough data for the test. The other smog place gave me instructions, but I followed them exactly, went back, car still was not ready, was given the same instructions, went back again, and the car was still not ready to test. I finally decided to try a different place.
I found Hensley's here on Yelp and made an appointment online. I dealt with Erik, and after explaining the situation, Erik checked my car to see if it was ready to smog. The car was still not ready for the smog test, but Erik walked me through the entire process, and gave me very specific instructions on what to do to make the car ready for the smog test. His information was so helpful and complete (much more than that other shop!), and he didn't even charge me for that visit (since he just checked to see if the car was ready, instead of performing the smog test). I followed Erik's instructions, and made another appointment two days later and the car was finally ready to test, and passed!!! I was so happy to finally get the information I needed to resolve this. I will definitely be back in the future.

I found Hensley's Auto Shop on Yelp, and I am so happy I went to them for my smog test. I brought in my 20+ year old BMW, it failed the smog. The mechanic quickly determined I needed a new catalytic converter to pass the smog test. They placed new catalytic converters at a very competitive rate and my car passed the smog. Excellent service. Professional staff. I will be coming back and have referred family and friends.

I found an online coupon for this place and it was convenient to where I work in downtown so that's pretty much what got me in their door. It is a bit off the beaten path but no hard to find and they are very friendly. I got there with no appointment at 4:30 and it was BY FAR the quickest, least expensive, and most hassle-free smogging I've ever had! In and out in about twenty minutes and for only $30 after the online coupon I mentioned.
I'll be back in two more years!

Just another repair shop that also does smog, although the staff is friendly and I was able to book an appointment for the next day at my own continent time for a smog with ease. The day I had it smogged it only took a little under an hour and the waiting room is air conditioned, has cable TV, coffee, water , and a really comfy couch! And the sweetest part was that the smog only cost $45! Great place to go! :)

My rating is in respect to my experience getting a smog check here. I was pleased with the service and price. The smog check was $45 after the $20 coupon, with the price including the certificate. This is competitive based on other smog check places contacted.
I'm the type of person who likes to see how the test is done and the staff was very friendly (i.e. not annoyed) about answering my questions. The reason I docked one star was because it took about 40 minutes to finish the test since one of their machines was not working properly and required a reboot. They had two machines though, so they moved me over to the next one.
Overall, I was satisfied with my experience and would return (with the $20 coupon).

DMV sez "it's smog time." And I need to go to a STAR-certified facility.
If you search, you'll see a lot of options around Santa Rosa. Based on Yelp reviews, Hensley's seemed like a good choice, so I made an appointment online. I made the appointment about noon on Saturday for 2:30 pm. I got a confirmation, and a reminder (which would make more sense if it wasn't a same-day appointment).
It's located in the back (SE) corner of a small industrial park on the south side of Yolanda, but plenty of signs to help find it. Drove up and was greeted by a smiling person working on a car outside, who turned out to be Eric Hensley. A young woman checked me in and directed me to the waiting area.
Pro tip: mention the web coupon when you check in, to save $20 (and save them having to print out a second estimate -- my bad).
A while later, the young woman came back to tell me my car was done. Gave her my credit card to pay. In and out in less than an hour for $45 all in.
Hensley's isn't fancy, but the people are friendly and the price is right., For a commodity item like a smog check, that's worth 5 stars.

I am still amazed. I went in on a Friday afternoon and there was NO LINE, no waiting, and the staff was friendly, engaging, and efficient. I was in and out in 20 minutes. If the online coupon is available (on their website), USE IT! The cost becomes beyond reasonable. I spoke with a total of three people working there - the first was a very nice lady, that greeted me immediately, took my mileage and entered my information on the computer and then offered me a hot cup of fresh coffee that I didn't have time to finish while waiting in their comfortable waiting room (the test was completed that quickly). I also spoke with someone that sounded as if he was an owner and he explained to me that they had recently added the ability to make an appointment online. Previously all they took were drop-ins although he also let me know I could have called and set up an appointment as well. They have three machines in total and their staff seem to know what they are doing.
As someone else mentioned, the location is "off the beaten path", it's in an industrial area and is at the back of a small industrial park. As such, it's right where it should be. Their parking could be challenging for some, so keep that in mind.
The people were fantastic, the smog check was completed quickly and efficiently, and the location is exactly what I expect for an automotive service. I just hope my rave review (and that of others) doesn't make this place too popular as I am telling all my friends and I want them to have the exact same experience. :)

Last time I got my car smogged, it was at a place on the south side of Piner Road, I suspected they had screwed me over (it cost a lot, I failed for the first time, had a couple hundred dollars of meaningless work done on my car, went back and they said I barely passed.)
This time I made sure to do a lot of research first. Hensley's had such great reviews, I went there today. The reviews are real. They were efficient, friendly, reasonably priced, and they said my car passed pretty easily (which leads me to believe even more that I got ripped off by the place on Piner before--I doubt my same old 1990 Mazda got miraculously cleaner during the las two years.)
Anyway, I would definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone who asks. They are great.

This was my first time visiting this place. It was actually a great experience. Before you pull up, there is someone walking up to you asking how your day is going ready to start business! The waiting area is a bit small but it is clean and quite. The smog for my vehicle was discounted by checking in on yelp and I couldnt have chosen a better place for my vehicle. The customer service was efficient and they even drive your car out to you and open your door!

Eric, of Hensley's Auto was great. We went to smog my Aunts car after it wouldn't pass at another place and Eric told me prior to are appointment he suggested for me to take the car on the freeway at different speeds. we went to get smog cert and it passed. I had a 5 star experience with Hensley's Auto. I had an exhaust part replaced at A1A muffler in Santa Rosa. That cleared my engine code and allowed me to get a smog. I didn't pass because there was not enough history on my car's computer. Eric told me to drive it around and put some miles on the new exhaust part. He said the re-test was free. I cam back today and passed with flying colors. Although he wasn't there today, a young gentleman helped me out and was very friendly. Now off to the DMV! Eric, if you read this... I sent you an email for a free hour of service with my company!

These guys are awesome and very friendly. I was late getting my smog test done because I had check eng lite on used my OBD2 reader and repaired the parts to get to pass smog but there is some tests the car has to be driven to get ready to test I was having a hard time to get one test ready (evep) after repairs I called many shops to see if smog test could be done if only 1 test was not ready. I had some shops telling me I will not answer that call the state & also had some saying no if all test are not in ready status cant test this people informed me yes it can test if only 1 not ready so I took it in and it passed.
I recommend this shop to everyone!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to take a moment to recommend Erik Hensley and Hensley's Auto Smog And Repair. Way back when my husband and I were car dealers, over 10 years ago, we found Hensley's because they were neighbors. I am really proud of and happy to do business with Erik. For one, this is a young man who has been able to build his business successfully via doing it right and being an ethical and friendly human being, plus very smart when it comes to figuring stuff out. His prices are reasonable, and his work is thorough. Now, in addition to all kinds of repairs, tires, and being a test only as well as regular smog shop, they are also doing exhaust systems / catalytic converters, etc. If you're looking for a one stop shop with reasonable rates and a very personable attitude, Hensley's is the place to go. P.S. ask Erik about the super clean electric tricycle he just built, it's super cool.

This company is a solid group that know cars and are prepared to fix virtually any car trouble or need. I brought my Mazda Rx8 here fearing the worse, that I had blown my motor or I would need an expensive series of repairs. Upon dealing with Eric, then Dave, they concluded that I only needed a tune up. All without assuming one thing or the other. They took the time to approach the issue pragmatically. What a refreshing thing to deal with people that are down to earth and professional. Looked online to find a close by smog place for a good value as I got totally ripped off with a bait and switch last time that I had to do one. I found Hensley's on yelp and it seemed to have pretty good reviews so I gave it a try. It's kind of off the beaten path, but worth going to! Edwin helped me, there was one car ahead of me and he said it would be about an hour. He pointed me to a Starbucks that was in walking distance when I asked if I had time to drive and come back. I was pleasantly surprised when I returned in about 35-40 minutes to see that it was done. As soon as Edwin saw me, he came right over, took my payment, gave me the coupon value and I was out the door at $45 as promised. No gimmicks, no tricks. I will definitely go back and will recommend to my friends. If I had to say one negative thing it would be that they need someplace for people to sit if they want to wait. Even a bench outside or something.

My grandson had a 1979 Mercedes Benz that failed smog at a test only shop. He looked around for a shop to repair and smog and found Hensley's. They were the only place in the area that had the equipment and interest to work on his car. They were friendly and helpful and set out to try to find some old parts(hoses) for his old Benz. They communicated with him every step of the way and even though it took a little time and effort to locate his parts they did without adding to the repair bill. They treated a high school kid with his first car very professionally and the final bill was very fair for the work done. We recommend Hensley Auto.

Uh-Oh! My son's old car failed it's smog test. I had already been to another mechanic and it failed again.
Erik at Hensley's was recommended, so I tried them. They had the car for a while and tried different things. Eventually replacing the two catalytic converters - a pricy job!
I was pleased with the final bill, which I believed was reasonable and the fact that the car easily met the emission standards.
I found them to be professional, courteous and tenacious in repairing that car. good job, you guys!

Ozzie and Erik performed a smog check on my car today and it was a pleasant and painless experience. The guys are very friendly and efficient.
