My experience at Lombard Auto Body was far better than I would have ever anticipated. Jack treated me like I was family! I think that's as good as it gets! He personally made sure that I was taken care of; he even went above and beyond, thinking creatively, to ensure I had a vehicle to drive so that I could be with my family over the 4th of July holiday weekend.
This example, however, was just the cherry on top of what was already great customer service. Jack was able to take my car in the same day that I called asking about an estimate. He was easy to talk to, made me feel comfortable and confident, stayed in reliable communication and he even assisted me in dealing with what was seeming to be a difficult claim situation.
Right at the moment that I was feeling overwhelmed and heavy with the hassle of dealing with the need of auto repair, Jack took over and figured it all out for me, taking the burden off my shoulders. He quoted me the repair time and, to my surprise, had my car ready a day early! The work that was done looked great and my car was returned washed and vacuumed! =)
If I ever need to get work done on my car in the future, I will certainly go back to Lombard Auto Body! =) Thanks again, Jack, for a job well done and for such great service!

I stopped by here a few weeks ago and owner Jack Chu gave me an estimate on my civic that was side swiped by a Safeway trailer.

Jack is the best! Upfront, honest, accommodating, high energy! He knows customer service is the heart of any business and goes above and beyond to perform.
I was new in SF and preparing to leave when rear-ended at a stop light. The only fortunate thing about the accident was that it happened near Jack's. He immediately started guiding me though an unfamiliar process, explaining the steps toward repair and dealing with insurance. This also happened before the July 4th weekend, leaving me stranded in a new city with nowhere to stay. No problem, Jack immediately found a hotel room and negotiated a rate for me. When the other party started playing hard to get, Jack immediately did the legwork to notify their insurance to begin the claim process. Jack continuously dealt with the insurance agents so we never had to, keeping us briefed on the status and rebuffing their attempts to pass off a cheap fix. Jack even offered to pay for a couple day's rental car if I needed it (I passed, SF holiday traffic is not relaxing!).
Throughout the whole ordeal, Jack was open and welcoming to my needs and questions, as he was to everyone else I saw. In the end, my car was fixed and returned to prime condition; you'd never guess anything ever happened! What would've been a very tense and trying situation became an eyeopening experience in customer service. It's no wonder everybody on Lombard gives Jack a fist bump as they pass by, everyone who meets him can't help but feel a part of the family.
Thanks again Jack and the whole team at Lombard Auto Body. You guys do awesome work and hopefully we'll meet again in SF, without the prerequisite bump. ;)

Two words - Jack Chew. Had some minor garage dings on my Audi S5. Visited the three highest-yelped auto body shops around Pac Heights. Said I'm paying out-of-pocket and it doesn't have to be perfect, 'cause there's always going to be more dings driving in the city. Quotes from first two were over $2k++ because they had to tear off the panels and work them. Last visit was Jack, and I didn't tell him the other bids. He offered "perfection" for well less than $2k or just buff out the scratches and touch it up for a few hundred bones. Looks great now, just a tiny imperceptible dent that's not nearly worth fixing. Oh and also - he did it SAME DAY IN THREE HOURS vs. the other shops that wanted me to drop my car for several days a couple weeks forward. This is the place to go.

Amazing! After my first fender bender, I was at a loss for how to go through the insurance process and what work needed to get done on my car. Jack helped me every step of the way, getting an estimator to see my car earlier than was told to me by my insurance contact and getting my car to me, vacuumed, cleaned, and looking brand new, perfectly on schedule. I've brought 3 of my cars into Lombard Auto Body and for my cars; they got the right treatment. Jack I've known for years. Every book has a good and bad part, you do, I do and we all do. If you think otherwise, I'll tell you now, You're not NOT GOD..
Marvin, I've knows for about half the time. Hes a good solid hard worker. For an auto body shop and even some restaurants; has a clean a$$ bathroom.
The shop is spacious and doesn't look like some kind of chop shop you'd see in the mission or in Pittsburg.

Love and trust this place and it's mechanic's. I have brought my car here a few times for various issues and each time they steer me in the right direction. My most recent visit was due to an oil leak. I was worried about an expensive repair job, but they found quickly that it was just a lose oil filter. Came here for some pretty straightforward work, but Jack kept on pushing me to do extra work under some notion that doing extra work will save me money if we 'work something out' with my insurance company. I think I've found my new "go to" shop for car repairs! They went above and beyond to repair a hit and run damage on my car =') At first, I wasn't sure if I wanted to come all the way here since I live in Daly City. But I'm glad I went with my gut feeling about this place. Jack is AWESOME and he definitely made this unpleasant situation a lot easier. Prompt responses all the time and he really cares about his clients! It took three weeks to get my car back but it was because my annoying insurance carrier is unprofessional/inconsistent - I'll save my complaint for a bad review on their Yelp page. Anyway, after the shop got the "ok" to begin working on the car, Jack said it would take about 5 days.. The shop finished in 2 days!!! When I came to the shop, I saw my shiny car waiting for me. Without any additional costs, they had touched up some scratches/dents, cleaned my dirty ass rims, removed the oxidation on my headlights, and washed my car cleaner than I will ever be able to! Lombard Auto Body saved my life. Or my car's life. Or that's not the point. Point is, Lombard Auto Body not only demonstrated exemplary professional skills and execution but also opened up their hearts to me when I needed it most. I trust them with my mobility.
I left my car with my partner and left the state on a one-way ticket. Naturally, it spazzed out and went all systems down without warning. My partner called Lombard on a Sunday and they came out to fix the vehicle on site Monday morning. They arrived at 8:30am, diagnosed the problem, and had the car on the road by 9:15am. All the way on the other side of the country, I didn't even know there was an issue until there wasn't.

Jack worked with me (on a Sunday, when the shop is technically closed) to discuss options and was extremely helpful and flexible throughout the whole process. If we ever missed each other I knew I'd get a call back right away (and this was over the course of 2 weeks). He also did a great job of hounding my adjuster on my behalf to keep the claim moving towards approval. Lastly, the car looks as good as new after some pretty significant damage - I'd recommend Jack and his team highly.

I brought in my 1970 Volkswagen Beetle for an estimate on bodywork. Jack and the owner Marvin worked with me on a price that was affordable. Two days after dropping off my car, my car was ready for pick up. The car looked like brand new. In particular Marvin and his staff matched the color perfectly. They even repaired a small dent at no extra cost. The staff at Lombard Auto Body is friendly, courteous, and very efficient. They care about customer's needs and will work with the customer to make sure they are satisfied. I wholeheartedly recommend Lombard Auto Body.

These guys recently repaired my WRX, and when i realized a month later that one of my fog lights wasn't working i called them up to see if it might have been from the repair, or the accident.
Sure enough i brought my car in and had it repaired within hours and i didn't pay a dime! They even had to replace a part to fix it!
These guys are fantastic and customer service is clearly at the top of their list. I just found my new body shop in San Francisco!

My darling husband took my mini-van to get a much needed wash. Found out an hour later that a school bus filled with high schoolers crashed into my parked car at my hubby's work. It is a huge lot and only one car was parked there at the time. Hubby could see from inside his office that the bus driver was backing up and hit the corner of the mini-van. He had to pick up his jaw from the floor and run out there. When the police arrived, the students told them that the driver was at fault and didn't know what he was doing. Anyways, one of our good friends recommended Lombard Auto Body and glad we took her advice. Jack did an awesome job and took care of the payment with our insurance company. Car looks great and the best part was that Jack personally washed and cleaned the inside and outside of my car. We definitely would recommended Lombard Auto Body! Thank you, Jack.

Instead of a bid, he told me that his guy had just tightened the hinge and there was need to make app.and there was no charge. Uh--really? I thought that was unusually great and worth a review. Getting into an accident is already a horrible experience. However, I have never been more pleased with fixing my car at any shop before coming to Lombard Collision Works. Being a woman, I sometimes feel skeptical about the amount of work that really needs to be done on my car. However, Jack took the time and extra care to explain exactly what was wrong with my car. He was very good at keeping me informed of the entire process so I felt very comfortable and the the extra care was taken to repair my car properly. They were great in dealing directly with the car insurance company which made what could have been a very unpleasant experience really painless. My car was ready in a few short days. They also provided extra service in making sure I was able to get my car and got me to where I needed to go when I left my car in the shop. Honest, good people. Great service and quality work. You can't ask for much more. Highly recommend.

This is my first review ever on Yelp simply because I had to share the incredible service I received at Lombard Collision. My front bumper was unhinged and the paint scraped off from a parking garage accident on my new car that was not even a month old. I fully expected to have to pay at least a few hundred dollars at a body shop at a minimum but after arriving right when they opened, I was greeted by Jack who said he could fix it right then and there while I waited in his office for close to nothing. He was done in about twenty mins top and the car looked brand new again. He even noticed some scrapes and a small dent on my back bumper and fixed and buffed it for free. Extremely happy with the service and will be keeping his card on my fridge for any and all repairs in the future!!

Wanted to say what a great job the crew at Lombard AutoBody did to help me out i did not know what to do. We went in for a damage consultation one week, made an appt the following Monday to leave the car and we were told it would be ready on Thursday. Come Thursday, no word, so we called and we were told Friday. Come Friday, they had not done one thing to the car other than let it collect dust. Really?? Very bad.

Brought my 2005 Mitsubishi Evolution to Jack and his team at Lombard Auto Body after being backed into on one of San Francisco's steep streets. Let me say that these guys rock! Took excellent care of me, kept me in the loop with what was going on every step of the way and helped me out with contacting my insurance carrier as well. Car came out looking spectacular! This place is solid! My dad use to work in the auto business so I am spoiled with new cars & quality work. Jeff, the owner goes above and beyond in his service and cusomter care. I am a customer service snob and I must say, I felt that he truly cares that the job is done right and the customer is satisfied. So I've been going to Lombard Collision Works for a few years now and they've always taken care of me. Quality work and their price has always been fair and reasonable.
One time, I had a minor dent / scratch and took it in for a cost estimate. I went and talked to Spencer and told him my situation. He told me to come back in an hour and he would take a look at it for me. Well, when I get back, he had gone ahead and fixed it! And when I asked how much, his response was FREE. NOTHING. NADA. On the the house! I was like "What?!" He just said that since I was a loyal customer and he appreciated my continued business that this one's on him. Man I can't tell you how much that meant to me.
Spencer is a good guy, he runs a fair, honest business and he's my guy if I ever need any help with body work repair.

When I was deciding where to take my rear-ended 4-month-old car for repair, my friend referred me to Lombard Collision Works. I took my car there and met with the manager, Randy. He is really one of the nicest guys I've ever met in the car industry! It turned out that the other driver's insurance company was only paying for a second hand bumper, so he went ahead and called them to explain that I deserve a brand new one.. I learned this when I got the car back and thought that was sweet. He also gave me tips about my car accident, like who to call or where to rent a car, etc.
I was also surprised at how clean my car was upon return.There was so much clutter in there but they still managed to vacuum the heck out of it and polish the car inside and out. It looked like what it was when I purchased it!
Overall an excellent job thanks to Randy. I would recommend my friends and family to have their cars repaired here for sure!

I heard about how difficult to match color on metric paint.
The color matching and finishing is so beautiful. It cannot tell any difference. They use high end color matching system.

I live in San Francisco. I get it. Parking sucks...
Renting a studio apartment in the Marina without a parking spot is not the sucky thing.
Finally finding a parking spot ELEVEN blocks away (that you have to take a bus to) on someone's driveway that you share with 6 other people and pay hundreds of dollars a month for is not the sucky thing.
Coming back to your car after two weeks of taking the bus and walking to find the driver's side of your car scraped and dented from hood to truck, now THAT'S the sucky thing.
Luckily Lombard Collision Works was just around the corner. Fast, friendly, and efficient. They fixed my car in a snap and dealt with my fellow driveway parker's insurance agency leaving me with a rental car and no stress.
They were even nice enough to touch up some peeling paint and scratches throughout my car that were unrelated to the original damage. Sweet!

Okay, now that that out of the way... I had to get my car fixed. Progressive Insurance says, hey, we got these guys... and I just go, yeah, yeah, do it yesterday. Yelp, alas, you're for food for me, not rear end repair. I chose Lombard's only because it's the closest authorized Progressive shop to Chez P. (And the Mission's ghetto.)
Quarter panel, bumper, rim job. (Get your mind out of the gutter.) I drop it off early Monday morning, they say it'll be ready THURSDAY. They're going to outsource the rim, while they repair and repaint.
Thursday rolls around. FRIDAY, we'll have it done Friday.
Friday rolls around -- yeah, we need to let the paint cure over the weekend. It'll be ready MONDAY morning.
MONDAY morning, I call in, they say, give us till the end of the day.
I get a call that afternoon from the Progressive adjuster, who's on site. Yeah, they JUST FINISHED PAINTING and it needs to dry. It won't be ready till *TUESDAY*.
WHILCO. THOMAS. FRANK.
A FOUR day job becomes a NINE day job. And Progressive said they had priority queuing...
The only reasons why this place gets 3 stars, instead of 2:
-They cleaned the car
-They didn't steal the iPod I forgot inside the car (sad state we live in where it's not a given than servicemen don't steal from their clients...)
-The paint job was good and looks like factory, even though one inside seam on the bumper (where it connects to the quarter panel) visibly lacks paint, and one corner sticks out a tiny bit. Not noticeable unless you're stroking my ride...
-They cleaned the car

The story begins with a stupid person ramming into my car bumper with her bumper. How does that happen one might ask? Yeah, it happens when BAD DRIVERS do not look back before reversing out of a parking space. So when the BAD DRIVER and I get out of our cars, she says, "OH, were we both moving?!" No, stupid girl WE were both not moving, you were moving and I was stationary! So I tried to ignore her stupid self, took pictures of the damage and wrote down her information.
Okay, on to my review of Lombard Collision Works. I brought my car in to be looked at and Alicia gave me a rough estimate of what I needed to do and how long it would take to complete. Thank you to the staff/technicians/mechanics at LCW who did a great job on my bumper. My car looked like new when I picked it up. Also, they have a lifetime guarantee on the damage area they fixed. So if it ever peels or looks like it is wearing off, they repair it for free.
Oh yeah, back to my story. I received word from State Farm and it was determined that it was the other driver's fault. No, duh! Lesson learned: If you ever see those white reverse lights in front of you or in your rear view mirror...HONK or GET OUT OF THEIR FREAKIN' WAY! THEY WILL HIT YOU, I PROMISE YOU THAT. =)

You know how you're happy to have a garage in San Francisco, but it still would be really nice if it were more than two inches wider than your car? My Saturn looked half its age, until I moved here. So did the garage. Anyway, I'm backing down the 45-degree slope one centimeter at a time, and just when the coast seems clear, *crunch*. The driver's side mirror is a goner.
Lombard Collision Works assessed the situation, ordered a new mirror, didn't pressure me into fixing all of the other dings on my car, backed the Saturn down their own 45-degree slope for me (and fast!), fixed it while I waited, and charged even less than they originally estimated.
Minus a star 'cause they said I could stop by any time for the fix after the mirror arrived, but when I did, they asked me to come back later. To be fair, it was lunchtime, and I should have called first, but I hated to make another trip there for a 10-minute job. I try not to take the car out of the garage. ...

This rating is just for their customer service side. I don't know how their actual work is considering I never had my autobody repair here. They deserve a good review just for taking the time to talk to me and explain some things to me even though they knew I wasn't going to give them my business just because I'm broke. Most places, especially ones owned by Asians, won't really bother giving you the time of day to talk to you unless you're paying out, but these people were great! I'll definitely do business with them in the future (I hope I won't have to, but knowing my poor driving skills....I'll be in sooner or later)!

the crew were helpful and courteous. this is the second car I've taken to here so overall am happy with their quality of work. They called to say it was finished as promised but when i went to pick it up there was clearly some mis-matched paint on the car. I was bummed that I had to see it instead of them noticing it. They promptly agreed that it should be fixed, but that cost an extra day which was completely avoidable. They also didn't wash the car and delivered it with a lot of buffing dust on it on. Small things to matter.

I've been going to LCW for over 7 years now and had referrred over a dozen friends, collegaues, and family members to their shop. They've done great work in the past and the quality of their work was awesome.
NO LONGER!!! They are terrible! The ownership has not changed but everything else about this business has.
Back in October 2008, my car was hit on the rear right fender. I did not hesitate to take it to LCW because of my past experiences with them. The repairs were approved by my insurance company and LCW told me that it would take roughly a week to complete the repair work. I called a week later to follow up on the status and they told me that the car was done over three days ago but no one called me. When I went to pick up my car, I noticed immediately that the car was not polished and that the paint was dull and had a lot of scratches on it. I brought that to the owner's attention and he immediately had someone polish it on the spot. I had to wait close to 2 hours for them to finish. When I brought the car home, I soon noticed that there were more areas in the paint that were not finished correctly. In addition, there were also areas of the clear coat that were starting to bubble and peel. Fast forward, I have brought the car back to them 7 separate times. They tried again and again 5 times to fix the paint work and failed. The other two times I went down there the owner was not even in the shop to address my concerns. Everytime I brought the car back I had to leave it there a full week each time so you can imagine how disruptive this was.
I have decided to give up on this shop and have contacted my insurance company to see if they can resolve this. My insurance company has requested a refund of the money paid to the shop along with a refund of my deductible. It's now close to 6 months and it still has not been resolved. Spencer Kim who is the owner of the shop is ignoring my calls and every time I call, his staff simply says he's not in the office.
I am very shocked by their behavior. Their quality of work has deteriorated to nothing and what makes things a million times worse is their lousy customer service. I would not recommend anyone to go to their shop unless you want agony, poor service, and your car returned back to you in a condition far worse than it was when you brought it in. It's a shame that their ego and attitude has gotten to their heads that they no longer care. I don't no the first thing about runing a body shop, but what I do know is that I wouldn't treat customers the way I've been treated. I've already sent word to all of my friends, colleagues, and family for them to think more than twice before giving this place their business again. If it was possible, I'd give this shop a NEGATIVE 5 stars.

Customer Service - fantastic. Actual paint job - atrocious. Sure, it looked great at first, but being a city dweller with no garage parking has caused my bumpers to get hit a few times. The paint immediately started to get hairline cracks throughout, and then began chipping off in large pieces. When I called to see what could be done, the response was, "Do you street park? Yes, well that's what's going to happen." It didn't chip like that before the paint job. Foolishly, I gave up because I wasn't up for the argument, but 2 years later I cringe every time I look at my half-painted, cracked & chipped bumpers, and I wouldn't recommend Lombard Collision Works for a paint job to my worst enemy.

been here for years to fix dents, scratches, broken side mirrors, bent fenders, even to help change head-light bulbs! they're the best. in often stressful situations (i.e. post-accident and other car-trauma), this place is a calming and stress-free environment. the manager, spencer, must be the nicest guy in the car-fixing business! they always go out of their way to make things as convenient as possible for me, offer cost-saving solutions, and go an excellent job. will even return the car washed and dried for me after body-work! and when the job includes other work they don't do (such as engine repairs), they recommend other very good shops where i've also had great experiences. highly recommend for a stress-free and trustworthy car fix.

I am well-placed to write this review as I have taken my car in for repairs 3 times this year! Each time the work has been satisfactory, and they've made an extra effort to finish early so that I wouldn't have to borrow a car to pick up my kids from school. While I have not had to pay for the repairs myself (other drivers were at fault in all three accidents), the estimates have always seemed reasonable. And, on my most recent visit, the actual cost was several hundred dollars less than the estimate!

I tend to get a lot of flack from friends who think it's a waste of money for me to get my car repaired by my dealer. So when my car was broken into a couple of weeks ago, I decided to try Lombard Collision Works. I chose LCW because of the great reviews here on Yelp, the fact that it's conveniently affiliated with State Farm, and located near my home. The good news is they fixed my car and it looks like new. They're also SUPER nice. The bad news is when I picked up my car, I didn't notice until I got home that there was still a ton of glass in the car (not detail work, but LOTS of glass) and paint spattered on the ceiling and the dash. When I took my car back a few days later, they couldn't take care of it that day, so I had to come back a third time. TOTAL pain. Hopefully I won't have to deal with this again, but if I do, I'm going back to my dealer. UPDATE: Not long after the work was done, it became apparent that the window hadn't been put in properly and they'd left glass inside the door. Had to have it re-done by someone else. Knocked down to 1 star, which would be 0 stars if that were possible.

I have had three cars repaired by Lombard Collision and have yet to be disappointed. This is by far the best body shop I have used. The work and the finish on the repairs are truely difficult to distinguish from the factory paint. They are timely and friendly yet professional. I have used a number of body shops in the San Francisco area including some of the bigger names in the business as well as other highly rated shops from Checkbook but have been the most satisfied with Lombard Collision.
