After I mistakenly let Jiffy Lube do a simple oil change on my vehicle and royally screw it up, I was in desperate need of my car to be fixed. Not only did it stop on me in the fast lane of the freeway, but it stopped again while I was trying to get to work at my new job of only 3 weeks. So I called D&R, dropped of my car and they were life savers. Jiffy Lube had cracked something while they were doing an oil change on my 2013 Camry and put it back so I had no oil in my engine. D&R checked out my vehicle, told me the recommendations and were super friendly along the way. I have never had anything like this happen to me before, so they guided me on what to do, like calling Jiffy Lube and my insurance. I commute for work and am not familiar with the area, so the main guy even told me how to walk to work from there, only a few blocks since I work at city hall. He even offered to looking in to getting me a ride back to my home from someone he knew commuting as well if they couldn't have my car ready, but they did! Super nice, super friendly and super helpful. Hands down one of the best auto repair places I have been to. Thank you D&R!

I have been happy with D&R up until today:
Last week my husband called to make an appointment for my Camry. He gave them a comprehensive list of what it was in need of and received a very reasonable quote, along with date/time/and guarantee of my getting a ride home the day of appointment since he would be out of town and unable to pick me up.
First, I arrive at 7:30 am-- when they are supposed to be open-- for my 7:30 am appointment. No one is there. Finally after waiting for 25 minutes, the guy shows up and opens the gate, not even acknowledging his being 25 minutes late, let alone apologizing.
Second, he has no idea or notes re: my appointment or what I am in for, let alone have a ride available to take me home. After bringing him up to speed re: my husband's call last week, he doesn't offer to arrange me a ride so I walk home.
Third, I get a call with a quote of three times the amount my husband was given last week. Along with a list of other items they claim need to be taken care of. I let them know my husband will be calling to discuss. He doesn't seem pleased.
All in all, a very unpleasant experience.
Update: after dropping my car off first thing in the morning and it being in the shop for over 10 hours, it is still not finished for what they called a "simple fix." I will never take my car back here and would never recommend anyone go there either.
Update: finally by 7 pm my car was ready (after nearly 12 hours of sitting in their shop not being worked on) and upon driving it home, my husband hears rattling, opens the hood and there are tools all throughout under the hood. They were so sloppy they left their tools under my hood.
Now today my air conditioner doesn't work after whatever they did to it.

Saved me $2,000!!! I took my wife's car to our normal guy because it would not start. He told me I would need to re-haul the engine and it would cost me $2,500. We could not afford it at the time so the car sat in our driveway for a few months. Once I had the money to fix it, I was told to take it to D&R so I did. After about 2 hours they called me back and told me it would be $500 to fix and I could pick it up in an hour. Car runs better than ever now!!
I also take my BMW there for oil changes because all of the "BMW Shops" charge over $100 for a simple oil change.. D&R get's me out for $40 less than what I was paying.

I have been going to D&R auto for the past 2 years now. I have had excellent experience like others did. I was always given good and honest service from Tony.
Recently I visited D&R for an oil change, my exhaust had come loose and I wanted to get the brake fluid changed (my brakes were mushy).
I found out that Tony was out sick and Mark is the new replacement. Mark does'nt know the basics of auto repair or how to diagnose problems. He does not even know that a manual transmission car with a hydraulic clutch has a clutch master cylinder.
He started quoting hideous prices of basic repairs.
My wife also had a bad experience with them a couple of months backs. Too bad this place was close to my work and now I have to find a new place.

Impressed!! We bought an older, high-milage BMW 7-series a couple years ago for a cheap price. It ran well for a long time, but I knew we'd be due for some substantial repairs at some point. That point came last week.
Now, it is a fun car to drive but if a mechanic so much as looks in its direction, it starts to cost money. The parts alone are just outrageously expensive, but mechanics and everyone else seem to think if you are driving this car you have plenty of money to burn (not really how I'd characterize my situation). For this reason it can be tricky finding an honest mechanic.
Through the magic of Yelp we found D&R, and were not let down. Our experience was everything you want from a mechanic: courteous, timely, and professional. They didn't even charge us for labor on several of the repairs because they were "already in there" - wow! I'd have no problem believing I saved between $500 to $1000 or more from what a typical mechanic would have charged, let alone the dealership...
Definitely planning on taking every car problem I have to this shop, and recommending it to everyone I know...they are that good. All these 5-stars don't lie!

I had been needing an alignment and an oil change since I bought new tires and do some commuting to school. I call this place and they said to come in the next day at 8:30 am.
I do so, and as I was driving downtown i was wondering HOW they could have an autoshop because everything looked like big tall businesses. I was scared I would pass it up haha. Anyways, it's right on the corner of tulare street i think, across from the convention center. Keep an eye out, cause I didn't see an actual sign that said D&R, but rather just what looks like a mechanics garage, different posters with tire brands, and cars in it haha. Not till I got in the garage that I saw a somewhat hidden sign.
Anywho, the alignment for 4 wheels was only $60, a steal! And the oil change was 36$ i think. Totaled to about $97. They said it would take a few hours to complete, but it was faster than that. Conveniently, across the street is a couple of small chain restaurants so I went to starbucks, took advtantage of their wifi, and waited it out while i did some hw since I didn't have a ride home.
Tony (the guy who helped me) called me in an hour and a half and said my car was done. Faster than I thought, and I was happy haha, it saved me from seeing half the people that go into starbucks that didn't need it. Anyways, I anticipated like 3 hours, but alas, it was really fast!
Got in, paid, and left with out any extra charges and such that I hear mechanics like to do when they "see something wrong" that probably isn't significant enough. Straight to the point, easy on my wallet. Tony was nice. (:

I really don't want to knock off a star but since my car has been here a total of 4 times in the last month and it still isn't right, I felt I need to knock one off. They have been very helpful and tried their best to fix it. They are having me go to A-1 Auto (their sister store, same owner) next week in order to see if they can fix it.
I work downtown and it wasn't until after my third visit they suggested errand solution that will allow D&R to pick my car up at work and then drop it off when they finish so I don't have to wait.
They have gone above and beyond to try to fix it and maybe it just needs a new person looking at it.

I was a first time customer. I brought my car in to have the front struts replaced after getting a good price quote from Efrain and reading the other positive Yelp reviews. This shop is located two blocks from my work and it's in a pretty convenient location for the average downtown employee. The actual price I paid was a little under the quote I was given; that's a winner in my book! The service staff was professional and I was able to get my car in and out of the shop with no problem. The work order is thorough and clearly explains the price of each service performed. They do a good job of answering questions without making you feel incompetent. I'd recommend this shop to a friend and I plan on making this my new "go to" auto repair shop.

I called quite a few areas around Fresno to check prices on rear brake pad replacements, and D&R was the cheapest I found. I already had my own brake pads, I would have changed them myself but the stupid caliper bolt was completely stuck, and I couldn't get an impact wrench to fit in the area. So I was only looking for labor charges and cost to resurface the rotors. Tony from D&R quoted me $89 for labor and $25 to resurface both rear rotors. $89 for labor is more expensive than what I'm used to from my usual Vietnamese mechanic from Orange County, but it is by far the cheapest I could find in Fresno.
The place is your typical garage, there are no waiting areas or anything. But the place is nicely located within walking distance of a lot of shops (Suishi Hana, Quizno's, Starbucks, etc) so you can go grab a bite or drink while your car is being worked on. I dropped off the car and walked over to Starbucks with my laptop (I'm so glad they offer free wifi now). It took about an hour and my car was ready to go.
Quick and excellent service at a fair price.

This place lives up to its high start rating. I came here for an oil change before a road trip. The guys checked all my lights and they noticed the license plate light was out...and they fixed it as part of the oil service. You get 2 stars because of the good customer service. The place gets 3 stars taken out for the very high, I mean very high prices. I checked with the dealership, yes, the dealership was cheaper to diagnose and fix. $98 for a diagnostic is unheard of! The dealership charged my brother $65 for a diagnostic and $700 for the same issue in the same car. I was charged the $98 for the diagnostic and $800 for the same issue. Save your money and shop around.

My daughter goes to school at Fresno and she has to have a car to get around, I just happened to be down there when the car lost all power. They opened early, the car was towed to them and they had us back up and running with a new alternator and battery by 3pm. Honest and affordable. We have to bring the car back for a new thermostat and we are relieved to know that this shop is here. Thanks for Great service.

Nice guys. We were traveling in the area and didn't know any repair shops since we live in the bay area. After reading good reviews for D & R we went there when our engine check light came on. Anthony checked it out for us and told us we could easily wait until we got home to fix it. One word--unbelievable. They took my car, drove me to the airport to pick up my rental car, completed my car work (U-joints), and then charged me virtually nothing. Did I mention Tony drove me out to the airport to pickup my rental car?
I brought my car up from Hanford based on the previous reviews. I wasn't disappointed. I highly, highly recommend D&R to anyone in the Fresno area.

I took my 2006 Nissan Frontier here for an oil change and to have new rear brake pads installed. Mark provided great customer service and most importantly finished the job on time and within the estimate cost that was given. after reading all the great reviews on this place, i decided to give this place a try. my AC was blowing hot air. so i took it in to get the freon recharged. Tony the manager told me that first they would look for a leak and if they don't find any they will go ahead and recharge the freon and it should only cost 70 bucks for everything. i dropped it off and i get a call from Tony and he said one of my A/C line needed to be replaced and it needed to be specially ordered from the dealer. i went back to pick up my car and he showed me exactly what was going on. i asked him how much i owe him for today's work and he told me i don't owe him anything. usually most places in town would charge a diagnose fee. so i left and he called me back a few days later to tell me that the part came in and i took my car back in and got it taken care of. i couldn't be happier with the service.

Wow. This is the best experience I have ever had at an auto repair shop. The service was quick, the staff exceptionally nice and the location convenient to our home. So glad that my wife checked yelp to help find a repair shop near our new home.
After acting strange my check engine light came on last night. We check D&R out on Yelp and saw the other great ratings, so first thing this morning we headed to downtown Fresno to drop my car off. Less than an hour later the mechanic called back to tell us what was wrong. Turned out to be a camshaft sensor and he already had the part. The estimate was about $150 so we gave him the go ahead to finish the job.
About 1 hour and 20 minutes after that, we got another call that the car was fixed. When we picked it up the total came to $148 AND he had given us a discount for no reason! So great. We will be going back the next time we need car repairs for sure.

Used Yelp to decide where to take my car and I am so glad I did! I took my car in because the brake pads were worn down and had been grinding against my rotors and by the end of the day it was fixed for a reasonable price. Tony was helpful, nice, and didn't try to talk me into other unnecessary repairs. But he did check for other problems and showed me what the bill would be like for those repairs if I choose to have them fixed. Very smart businessman! I will definitely be back!

front axle broke in the middle of nowhere on the 5 -- during a $350 tow i pulled up yelp and found these guys. they arranged for a driver from enterprise rent a car to be there as we arrived.
we went to LA and got wasted at a big movie premiere.
hungover, we picked up the car as good as new the next day.
in crisis it was good to have such a friendly and helpful attitude along with good service.
the price was fairer than you might expect for some out of towners in crisis.
can't say the same for the tow company. fuck those guys. opportunist assholes.

Seriously folks, if you have car problems and don't have a good service center yet - try these guys. My fiancee struck something on the freeway. I stopped to pick him up & knew it wasn't good. The drivers side tire had blown, the rim had a huge pie piece dent in it and the axle was not sitting properly in the wheel setting. I thought one thing 'expensive.' I looked on Yelp and was hopeful after reading merkley m's. review. We towed our Toyota there and agreed to call later for a quote on the repairs. His shop was extremely busy (good sign) but we had to wait and extra day for him to get around to the quote, which was fine since we were heading out of town. The initial quote he gave was $500 to repair everything. After much discussion he agreed to drop the price to $176, just to get it drive able and if we brought in the parts. After a $35 stint at Pick a Part the total price came to a little over $200. He was honest and realistic about what still needed to be done in the long run, but there was no pressure. They were super nice and didn't squawk at the fact that our traveling excursion caused us to leave the car there for well over a week. I promised the mechanics that I would leave a stellar review on Yelp...even tho many in Fresno still don't utilize it. Here ya go guys thanks so much for getting us back on the road :)

Lucky us. Halfway from San Francisco to Fresno, we noticed 2 gashes and weird markings on two of our tires. Optimistically, we drove on, planning to have the tires looked at in Fresno.
Lucky us - we made it.
Not knowing much about Fresno (besides the fact that the Radisson has the best nachos in town), I looked to Yelp to help me find a tire service. Unfortunately, Yelp does not seem to have hit real big down here. Or maybe people just aren't interested in reviewing automotive shops. So I resorted to looking up the nearest tire service to our hotel.
Lucky us - I found a good one a few blocks from the Radisson downtown.
D & R automotive is run by an awesome woman (Vickie), who not only helped solve our tire issues, but also offered some sorely needed tips on things to do in Fresno. Manuel did the assessment - he was accurate and to the point. Very professional. All in all, the service was fast, friendly, and competitively priced.

My son is in College almost 3 hrs from home and his car breaks what do you do, go to YELP see what others have to say...After calling a couple shops I talked to Tony got a good feeling and made arrangements to have the car towed to his shop sight unseen. Called D & R after reading good reviews here. Had a Chrysler that kept stalling when warm. Had previously replaced both the radiator and water pump for other problems. Javier said to bring it in for an inspection. Other people said it would be a fuel pump replacement, but they traced it to a faulty timing sensor. I spent half as much as I was expecting! He did an excellent job explaining their services
