David's automotive was the worst experience in automotive repair I have ever had. I purchased 16 spark plugs, changed 12 of them and sent it to "David's Bullshit automotive" to put in the other four as i couldn't get to them. I also had them run a code reader on my car. When it was finished a few days later they told me I had transmission problems and being the amateur shop they were they told me they didn't want to deal with it. This was all fine until i saw the bill that read $377 to change 4 spark plugs and run a code reader, I was furious. Curious as I was I decided to call a Benz dealership in Portland and they quoted me $160 to change all the spark plugs and run a code scanner for $30. I could have saved so much money!!!! Thinking I had transmission problems as they said I took it to the Benz shop and had a thorough maintenance job done on the car and it turns out there is nothing at all wrong with the transmission. If i could have given a "0" star rating I would have!!!!

My Acura MDX wouldn't start. The lights came on when I put the key in the ignition but when I put it all the way in - nothing. No lights, no ignition, nada. I was in St Helens and needed to get to the airport and daycare - which means I did not even have time to call my roadside assistance. I called David's Automotive and spoke to David for ideas on what it MIGHT be. I asked for a mechanic's trick. David told me it sounded like my battery cable was loose or corroded. We both agreed it could be more than that but with the lights coming on, this was his first thought. Guess what??!? I did have one terminal corroded, cleaned it off and - VOILA! my car started right up. Does this mean they will get it right every time? No (who does?) but it means he knows cars. And that David at David's Automotive made a difference in my life that day. I would take my car there for repairs in the future.

Went to David's Automotive in February 2014. He came recommended by two neighbors of mine. Shop looked clean and organized, well maintained. I received personal attention to my vehicle needs, and he seemed to know what to do to take care of it. Although I received great service, the two stars are for the prices that he charges. He marked up a $400 NAPA OEM vehicle part, and charged me $625 for it, over a 50% markup which was an extra $225. I could have easily bought the part down the street at NAPA, and did confirm he used the same part. He also charged over $90 per labor hour, almost as much as a dealership. The cost to repair my vehicle was $1,200 so I called two other shops to see what they would have charged. I was quoted $550 and $600 from these two other shops. While David performed good work, double the cost is a bit much, and would have rather paid a small premium for his work and become a loyal customer, rather that get gouged at both the parts and labor. Shop around and get quotes from other shops, and compare before your work at his shop. If you can afford it, seems that he does good work. But expensive!!

I will always cringe at the cost of car repair, but that said, I've found their prices to be fair. They always make time to answer questions and address concerns.
