Hi! I contacted Boston Jeepz in Newton, MA because I was having a hard time trying to get in contact with another shop in the south shore to upgrade my Jeep. I bought a 2004 Jeep Wrangler Sport in February, my 3rd Wrangler, and I wanted to look towards getting it lifted and 33" tires on it. When I went down and spoke with Dave, I was very impressed with his knowledge, and made a very compelling case as to why we needed to have other items on my Jeep addressed before we get to modification. Dave was respectful, courteous and not only explained to me as to what was wrong with my Jeep, but had it lifted and showed me the problems underneath the beast. Although the list of repairs were pretty extensive, they were able to turn around the Jeep in 2 days!!! These guys are very flexible and treat you with respect. The prices were very fair to boot, especially compared to my usual mechanic. I am sure I would have paid at least 25% more at any other shop (and that's being conservative). They did high quality work, and Dave is the kind of guy that takes into consideration what needs to be done now and what should be done but can wait. He leaves options open for you while giving you the information you need, because, believe it or not, he actually cares about how much you will have to pay and doesn't even try to push you to pay for repairs you don't need. After the winter I plan on going back to Boston Jeepz to tackle a few final repairs, and then it's lift time!!! The Jeep drives great! I was very happy with the service, and I am happy that I went with Boston Jeepz. I would take my Jeep to no other shop, and look forward to getting in Mod-Mode after winter!!! Thanks guys :) I only wish they did more than Jeeps, I would bring all of my vehicles here if I could! But trust me...if you have a Jeep brand vehicle, Dave and Boston Jeepz is the only place you need to go!!! Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!

Wow. Just Wow. Absurdly amazing is right. Boston Jeepz - as good as it gets. If you have a jeep, go here. And go here first. David, Drew, Tara, Tom - everybody I worked with was TOP NOTCH. RESULT - my $3k jeep off craigslist now drives like a new car. The steering is tight, there are no thunks, clunks or grinding like before, and my mileage has dramatically improved. They turned around the repairs in 2 days flat. Longer version - I brought them my 2003 Grand Cherokee (WJ) that I bought off craigslist a week before. Unfortunately I first took it to another place - a place I trust and have been going to for years - and put almost 1500 into getting the jeep working. And it still wobbled, clunked, and wheezed. After finding the reviews for Boston Jeepz, I knew I needed their expertise. UNBELIEVABLE SERVICE. David called a few hours after I dropped off my jeep with an extensive list of issues. More importantly, he helped me to prioritize which problems were serious safety issues, which would be smart to fix, and which I shouldn't worry about. David actually convinced me NOT to do some of the work I wanted. My highlight - one of the rear axle bearings I had replaced days before had already busted. This is the magic of Boston Jeepz - they know Jeeps. My previous mechanic was good, but he hadn't worked on jeeps before, and didn't know one of the tricks about replacing an axle bearing. When I stopped in to leave a deposit, Drew showed me the axle, explained the cause of the issue in detail, and answered even more questions. Believe the hype - these guys are for real. I'd like to share a few points: "Your mechanic" - doesn't know jeeps like these guys do. A jeep is kind of like a dysfunctional relationship that works. It's different than other cars, and needs specific care. Buying used / cheap replacement parts isn't a good idea for certain components. The team at boston jeepz will tell you straight when you need to go Mopar (original manufacturer) and when you can save. Your mechanic will go mostly autozone, which is a bad idea. You didn't buy a jeep because it topped the conusmer reports reliability test - you bought it because jeeps are cool. To get the most fun out of your ride, listen to these guys. I am so grateful to the Boston Jeepz team for the daily enjoyment I get out of my new (to me) Jeep. It is not an exaggeration to say that without them, I'd be broken down on the side of the road.

A+. My entire family has been taking our cars to Boston Jeepz for years. I moved out of the Newton area and now travel over 20 miles to Boston Jeepz because I don't want anyone else working on it. David is excellent. He knows the crap out of cars, works fast, and is very reasonably priced. You can't find a better or more trustworthy mechanic. -Rob M.

Great experience. My Jeep Liberty needed assistance with a quick turnaround and these guys got me in same day and out the day after. This was an AMAZING service and they were very nice. I am just moving to the area and I am so glad I found them.

Stay CLEAR, this place doesn't want to do work on MOST Jeeps out there. I called "Boston Jeepz" on a Wednesday morning before 9am. I needed a new pair of headlights put in on my 1999 Cherokee this takes ~15min from start to finish on most Jeeps and vehicles. I asked over the phone if they would be willing to install the headlights if I brought new ones in, the man over the phone replied "We don't work on anything older then the year 2000." I was in complete shock to hear this, Any well sorted mechanic would know how to work on the most common cars on the road today! This is a HUGE problem, why would you intentionally not put this on your website? I asked to speak with someone else over the phone. Dave answered and informed me that was only "sometimes" and they would be willing to turn some wrenches on the trusty, well maintained Jeep. This is the icing on the Cherokee cake, he reluctantly asked if I was free to come into the shop in two weeks, YEAH RIGHT! Wait two weeks to have headlights installed by someone who doesn't even want to do it? I smelled something fishy. Do you mean to tell me if I said I had an 01 Cherokee, they would work on it with no problem? Jeep guys are supposed to stick together but save your time, money and Jeep from the insane thought process David and Chris have to offer over at "Boston Jeepz." If you have the time check out the owner's edited response to my honest review on yelp, It is a real laugh!

I took my Wrangler to Dave several times and he always did great work for a crazy good price. Sadly I had to give up the Wrangler but was psyched to find he would work on my Nissan Murano as well. I recently brought it in needing all sorts of front end work and the brakes replaced and still the cost was ridiculously reasonable. Dave is a really smart guy, and seems to enjoy talking to you about what's actually going on with your car and what needs to be done. I believe he has a strong background in engineering and it shows. Can't recommend enough.

David and his crew at Boston Jeepz are amazing...
I have been to Boston Jeepz twice now, with an 04 WJ that is new to me. I purchased the Jeep w/o knowledge of its history and w/o any repair/maintenance records. David and his crew on my first visit to Boston Jeepz went over my car from headlights to tow-hitch outlining what they had found. They were very upfront, honest, and incredibly professional yet surprisingly personable.
My second visit was to start tackling some of the repairs my WJ needed. I had called before hand to let them know I was coming. They conveniently have a drop off system where you can leave you car after hours. By noon the following day, the repairs were done and my WJ was ready for me. When I arrived, David and his crew took the time to explain (even drawing diagrams on a dry-erase board for me) how the repair went and what the next steps should be.
Having found Boston Jeepz, there is no doubt I will be able to maintain my 04' and keep it up and running for a long long time. I will never let anyone other that David and his staff work on "Hank".

Dave knows more about Jeep's than the manufacturer does! He's helped me so much and responds to emails very fast. If you own any kind of Jeep, I HIGHLY recommend bringing it to Boston Jeepz.
They get the job done fast, at a great price, and will never try to make more money by telling you something needs to be repaired when it does not. I wish I could give ten stars! Thank you, Dave! :)

These guys are amazing and so great to work with. I came to them after a tree fell on my Jeep Wrangler and totaled my soft-top. Prior to that I had been experiencing the aptly-know "Death wobble" that is inherent in some Jeeps. A few years back I had had another shop look at it and they did their best to address but the underlying issue was never fully addressed.
Within a day of dropping my wrangler off, they called me with a full list of issues and solutions and a variety of ways to move forward. They were clear and concise and explained everything to me and answered any question I had about the work. I know the price to fix everything wasn't going to be cheap, but they helped me out as best they could and I 100% trust that the money spent was for quality and trust-worthy work. All of the work was completed over a long weekend and I had my car back and in better shape than I had left it, in under a week.
A few weeks later in a completely unrelated issue, the lever connecting my shifting to my transmission popped. Having had it happen at night, AAA towed me to a shop nearby to be looked at in the morning. (I should have just waiting to get towed till the AM and had them take it to Boston Jeepz! Lesson learned.) The shop charged me $100 for a non-refundable diagnostic fee (which they didnt tell me the night before!) They quoted me nearly $3000 to fix the transmission and a slew of other services that had no effect on the issue I came in with. I opted to not work with that shop and had my Jeep towed to Newton.
Within an hour of it arriving at Boston Jeeps, I was called once again with a complete list of the problems and solutions suggested. 90% of the work I had been quoted at the previous shop was frivolous and didnt need to be done. Boston Jeepz took care of the issue with my transmission for a reasonable amount and I had my car back by the end of the day.
Timely, concise, professional. If you have a Jeep, don't take it anywhere else.

This recommendation is long overdue. I have been taking my 2000 Jeep Cherokee to Boston Jeepz since 2010, when it first started having major issues and no other mechanic seemed to be able to fix it. I cannot say enough about how great David and Tara are and how well they have taken care of me and my Jeep (Esther), since then. My Jeep has definitely been given extra lives, through the service received here.
In all situations, David is happy to take the time to explain everything in a way that I can understand it. He is very clear about what is needed vs. what is recommended, and what goes into the repair costs. He has even given me recommendations on replacement models - for when the time comes when I really need to say goodbye.
If you have a Jeep that needs a little extra love, this is your place.

Dave and Chris are super helpful. Dave took me down to the garage and made sure that I saw everything that needed fixing. Gave me great advise on what to repair first and what can wait. It's very easy to see after two minutes of talking to these guys that they know more about Jeeps than anyone and will only steer you in the right direction.

Brought my 2013 Wrangler in for upgrades (lift kit, suspension, push bar, wheels/tires) after careful consideration that doing it myself was beyond my skill set (based on Jeep forums, it's all very easy). Spoke to Dave about my plans and ideas and he thought it best to have a meeting to discuss. He went over all the technical modifications required, research that I would still need to do, estimated pricing and recommended high quality components. Essentially, ensure I had the full picture before moving forward.
I pulled the trigger on the project and have nothing but high-praise for his professionalism, quality of work and communication. Dave's approach was more of an engineering approach than a typical mechanic. His knowledge of Jeeps is beyond any dealer you will find.
I wouldn't take my Jeep anywhere else.
Thanks Dave

This is a solid all around business. The owner, Dave, runs it on site and has a ton of experience. They will take the time to explain to you what needs to be done and makes sure you understand and are happy before starting any work.
Also, they were super fast at least in my case. I called after being disappointed with the service at another shop and they had me come right over. Did a spot estimate in 15 minutes, and had the car fixed in 6 hours. Plus they have a discounted agreement with a rental car place that will pick you up right there.
While its called Boston Jeepz, I drive a Chrysler and they helped me out. Depending on how busy they are, I get the impression that they generally prefer to stick with Jeeps but it couldn't hurt to call and ask if they can take care of you no matter what you drive. They are 5-Star for a reason.

Very friendly and flexible. My car broke down on a Friday afternoon around 2pm and I was able to have my Jeep towed there and worked on the same day! They even worked late on a Friday (till 6:30pm when they regularly close at 5pm) to repair my car and offered to come back in Saturday morning (they're only open on Saturdays with an appointment) to check on the car to ensure things were still working properly.

I have an '09 Wrangler 4 door that needed some front-end work done. The car was having some serious steering oscillation (better known as the jeep death rattle) and the previous shop I took the car to claimed everything was fine.
I dropped my Jeep off on a Monday evening, had a complete no-bull damage report the next morning by 9 AM. We decided to replace the tires, the front axel joints, ball joints, etc. The work was completed in 12 hours and I picked up my Jeep Tuesday evening.
David and his staff definitely know what they are doing. If you are looking for a shop that loves what they do, provides a great service, and also explains everything that is going on in a clear and concise manner, Boston Jeepz is the place for you.
tl;dr: Tremendous knowledge and service capabilities; excellent customer service.
Won't bring my Jeep anywhere else.

It's just a pleasure dealing with someone in this industry that is honest, can and will explain things simply, and will charge a fair price for services.
I highly recommend bringing any type of vehicle here (especially jeeps). I will always return here for service.
Thanks Dave!

First the background info: I've got a 2000 Jeep Cherokee (XJ) with over 218,000 miles on it. I have personally performed most services on my XJ from replacing inner axle seals and transmission filters to welding and body modifications for improved off-road performance - which doesn't mean anything more than the fact that I'm familiar with my vehicle and its capabilities and know my way around the factory service manual.
With the high mileage and off-road upgrades I've done I don't have any expectations of 20+ mpg, but after replacing a number of components that were worn out (CPS, CKS, Plugs, etc) I reached the end of my knowledge to get back some of the performance I'd lost over the years. I called Dave and was initially impressed with his willingness to talk through potential areas of concern (00 XJ's are notorious for bad blocks and subsequently cracked heads). He listened to me explain the component replacement I'd done and why and then addressed the areas that could still be problematic. All of this was over the phone.
When I brought my XJ in for him to check and diagnose he methodically explained what he was going to do, how he was going to do it and what the results would identify. His shop is state of the art and his knowledge and experience from many years with Chrysler Corporate were a refreshing change. Dave identified areas I needed to keep an eye on and performed an upper chamber cleaning that restored a good deal of my lost power. He was also forthright in letting me know (that with the mileage already on my XJ) that unless I put in a brand new engine I wasn't going to get back to "like new" performance. Honest professional assessment, knowledge and experience that only those who are leaders in their field exhibit, and an upfront desire to identify the problem and correct it the first time - quite an impressive package in a local Jeep shop.
Without any reservation I will recommend Dave to any Jeep owners in the area and will continue to bring my XJ and my wife's Rubicon to him for every service need that we may ever have. And honestly, if you're not bringing your Jeep here you're more than likely not giving your XJ/TJ/JK/WJ/etc the professional care it deserves.

Being the owner of diesel Jeep Liberty quality service can be difficult to find with it. Most of the dealers in the area didn't even want to work on it when I called them up about it. So I searched on Yelp and found this place. I have not been disappointed and have never had a better service experience before.
Dave and his staff are super friendly, very accommodating and do great work. The prices he charges are also extremely fair so I can't find anything wrong with this place. So if you own a Jeep do yourself a favor and get it serviced here.

Like the other reviews are saying (including the filtered ones!) Boston Jeepz is the ultimate in friendly service.
I am a computer person but the newer computerized cars make things even more confusing for me.
Whenever I had troubles my old mechanic and other locals shops that I talked to were great at fixing my car, but ONLY if I could tell them *exactly* which part to order and fix. I have no clue! That's why I'm paying for diagnosis time in addition to materials!
Boston Jeepz is the place to go if you want someone who's not only good at fixing cars but great at customer service too! It's worth the drive to get quality service.

I dropped off my '05 Wrangler and wished I had come here before.
They diagnosed my problem in a few hours and even stayed late on July 3rd to get my ride back to me before they went on vacation.
I've also had trouble with my shocks and tires for a while now and multiple visits to NTB didn't solve the problem. They found these independent of my original complaint and asked before fixing the earlier poor repairs. they also let me know about upcoming maintainance. Won't go anywhere else.

I brought my Grand Cherokee to Dave after I bought it and he walked me through what repairs needed to be made and how much they would cost. Unfortunately I didn't know about Boston Jeepz before I bought it and probably could have gotten a much better deal. Dave also gave me a rundown of what I needed to keep on my radar that would need to be fixed over time. His pricing is very reasonable and the work he did was nothing short of excellent. I have to agree with another poster here, if you own a Jeep and you're not taking it to Dave and his team, then you're out of your mind. You definitely won't be sorry you took your Jeep (or any other vehicle for that matter) to Boston Jeepz!

After spending over 1,000 dollars at my trusted mechanic of 10 years, I was told that my Grand Cherokee was a total loss and that I should look for a new car. I called David out of desperation, after seeing such positive reviews. Not only was he able to get me in immediately, with a ride back to work, he called me within 40 minutes with the solution to the "catastrophic" issue that a team of mechanics could not figure out after having my cars for 7 days. He repaired the Jeep by 3pm the same day. Unbelievable. He was the ultimate professional, very patient, and explained things in detail. If you are looking for a Jeep expert who bills out at a fair rate with top of the line service, this is you guy. He knows cars like the back of his hand, and Jeeps like nobody else in Boston.

Absurdly amazing. If every business were like Boston Jeepz this world would be a better place. Dave is as honorable and trustworthy as they come and as knowledgeable as one could hope. There are not enough good things to say about him and his business. They know jeeps better than ANYONE I have ever come across. They always put the customer first. But most importantly, they are good people - people I trust implicitly and without question (a trait very, very hard to find these days).

Definitely 5 star-worthy. Dave was great to work with, explained everything I needed to know to make an educated decision about what repairs my Jeep needed ASAP and what repairs could wait. He walked me through exactly what the repairs would entail and what I would pay, and he over-delivered and did so faster than he estimated. I've finally found a mechanic I'll go back to. Honest, fast service from someone that really knows what they're doing. I most definitely recommend going here with any Jeep vehicle, and he said that they can repair all other makes as well. I'm very glad I went here and not the dealer down the street.
