I selected this shop to have m...

I selected this shop to have my car serviced based on the many glowing reviews. I am sorry to say this, but I have been sorely disappointed. I agree with one of the other reviewers that had a negative experience . The shop might be ok for basic repairs or maintenance, but for more complex stuff, they might not be skilled at making the proper diagnosis for your specific car. My car was in this shop for an extended period of time. Actually, the longest time in my life, and I have been driving since 1988. Seems like the shop only has one mechanic(Sean). It's no wonder the repairs take a long time. While they are nice and friendly, they do not take responsibility for their actions and try to deflect the blame. Their inexperience will show for the more complex repairs. I took my car to another shop, and they were able to diagnose the problem with my car in one day. I have been driving for over 20 years, and have taken my cars to many shops. This was the worse auto repair experience in my life.

I thought these were good peop...

I thought these were good people but my car and wallet say different. After Family auto care supposedly fixed my car and gave it a major tune up it never made it to its first oil change before I had problem after problem. Family auto care warrantied my car for 12 months or 12k miles which they refuse to honor. The owner/mechanic promised to fix my car and make things wright but when I called 2 days later his wife/co owner played dumb and acted like they didn't know what I was talking about and said my car was fixed and is fine. I spent over $2,300 with this shop and my car sits in my garage with a check engine light on and oil all over the engine both problems they claimed to have fixed. This shop has wasted so much of my time, money and stressed me beyond belief.

The most genuinely nicest people

Sean and Nicole have to be one of the most genuinely nicest people I've met. They're both very easy to get along with and will be completely straight with you. Cool thing about Sean, is that not only does he do a great job, but he gives you the time to talk about the issue at hand. A another nice thing about Family Auto was how easy it was to make an appointment using their website. I will be using Family Auto Care and Repair in the future for all my vehicles.

If you want a repair shop that treats you like a person and not just a dollar sign, Family Auto Care is your place. I've had the pleasure of working with Family Auto Care since 2009. They have worked on every car I've owned and have gone above and beyond on helping me understand what my car needs, helping me figure out what I need to get done when, and helping me plan out getting things fixed when I can afford it. I have had absolutely NONE issues with their work. My family has been so impressed by their work my family now uses Family Auto Care for all there car needs.

Took my car in to be checked out for starter issues with an idea of what was wrong with it. Initial test proved true to what I thought but also discovered my transition fluid was really bad. Took care of everything same day and my car ran and started beautifully after! Hands down best service and very honest people. Thank you guys so so much! I Will definitely come back in the future! I had no idea all the jerkiness while driving that my husband complained about wasn't actually me! Lol

This was my first experience with Family Auto Care and I couldn't have been more satisfied. I needed electrical work on a 2005 vehicle and Sean found and solved the problem quickly and expeditiously. They actually bumped up the completion time to allow me to meet a commitment that arose after I had dropped off the van. Friendly "family" atmosphere, clean facilities and waiting area made for a great first time at Family Auto Care. I will certainly use them again.

We needed to find somebody we could trust to repair my sons car out in Vacaville, California where he's stationed in the Air Force. So I went to Google and read the reviews and found Family Auto Care. The reviews were excellent so I had my son tow the car in for repair. In short they did a great job, they were honest and knowledgeable and quick and I know little bit about car repair. They took the time to talk to me and explain everything in detail. I cannot say enough kind things about this shop. They are exactly what you want in a mechanic. Reliable, trustworthy, timely, informative, and very friendly and professional. Not only did they treat us well at the time of service, but I had a question that I called on about our services received after we moved out of the area. Sean proceeded to help me understand what the estimate was for, spent quite some time explaining why he thought it was necessary so that I could properly inform our new shop, and gave me resources to find a new reputable mechanic. Who does that? They KNEW I wouldn't be using their services anymore and still spent quite a bit of time making sure I was taken care of. Absolutely fantastic level of service. When we got our car serviced last October, we brought it in initially for an oil change and tire rotation and inspection knowing that we had just bought the car so a few services were going to be needed. We felt totally comfortable with the explanation of everything that was needed and unlike a lot of shops, they were great about letting us know if things didn't quite need to be addressed yet - honesty that you just can't buy!!!! Take your car here - you will not be disappointed.

This shop is the very definition of what a trustworthy, highly reputable business is. I recently brought my vehicle in for a ton of work. I received EXEMPLARY service! Not only does this shop offer services that others don't, like a special conditioner with their oil changes, Sean and Nicole are an invaluable power couple that go the extra mile in AMAZING customer service and quality work. Sean went out of his way; ABOVE AND BEYOND to say the least, to get my car into the shop and get repairs done to my vehicle before any damage was caused, in spite of my challenging availability and his schedule. I can honestly say that I will NEVER take my car to any other shop, EVER. If you are looking for a mechanic that you can trust, please do yourself a favor and visit Family Auto Care. I truly cannot say enough good things about Sean and Family Auto Care. Sean squeezed my car into his schedule as an emergency en route back home to Redding after my car broke down on I-80.

I failed smog nearby and took my '99 Miata to them the next day. Although they were fully booked for next few days, I explained to them my urgent situation and they allowed me to drop off the car. I even had another smog test scheduled later that day and they helped me out by doing their mechanic work with plenty of time for me to make the next appointment. The mechanic (Sean?) was extremely personably and helpful and explained every bit of information I asked. He went ahead and showed me what, where, how, on the engine itself.
I HIGHLY recommend this shop. A few days later I received a thank you letter from them, even though my work was minimal.
As for the smog shop that failed me.. That is another review, I'll get to that some other time.
5, hell, 6 stars even.

BEWARE - this place is the worst, they will rip you off. This is the type of place that give other honest mechanics a bad rep.
I am new to Vacaville and was looking for a good local mechanic that I could trust. I took my truck to this place based on the the other reviews. I just needed some basic work done and they came back with a laundry list of unnecessary repairs they highly recommended. The most concerning was they told me my front suspension needed quite a bit of work including ball joint, idler arm replacement etc. for ~$1500. I wanted a second opinion on price so I called Les Schwab and they quoted me $1200 but more concerning than price is they also told me that they have never heard of an upper idler arm + bracket that ever needed to be replaced. Note: this is Les Swab, a national chain that does suspension work all day long!!!
Long story short, I didn't t have Family Auto Care do the suspension work. Les Schwab did a free inspection and told me nothing was wrong with my suspension, everything was fine. Family Auto care is a scam, I recommend avoiding this place like the plague.
If anyone has a good recommend for a local mechanic that you trust I would really appreciate it, I am still looking...

Called this place the other day too see if someone there would give me a lil advise on how to change my breaks....The guy on the phone was very helpful he told me exactly what i needed to do and it worked great.....
He didnt try and get me to come in and pay he didnt tell me that he was too busy to help me alot of places wont give you that kinda help over the phone if they arent going to profit from it but he was willing to help me with no profit to himself which to me is AWSOME!!!
If this is how they treat people who arent even customers im betting that actual customers will get even better service and Ill be sure to take my buissness there next time i have somthing i cant fix myself check them out!!

Sean is really amazing and thorough in his work and care of my car. He takes the time to explain and show me exactly what is going on, what needs to be done, what I can wait on.. etc etc.

I have been taking my vehicles to Family Auto for the past 4 years and Sean has always provided above stellar service. I once had an electrical issue with my '99 Saturn that was so intermittent that it woldn't show up on diagnosis so I left the car with him for a week to drive around himself and experience first hand what it was doing. The car acted up on him a few days later; he fixed it and only charged me for the parts. I once drove in there early morning because I heard a grinding noise on my old beater work truck, turned out, just the parking brake cable clamp broke (rusted off) and was hanging down low enough to rub on the inside of the tire while the truck was going down the road. No damage to the cable but sean threw a new clamp on it (no charge) and I was on my way in 15 mins. Folks, you can't get any better service than that. His prices are reasonable (in par with other shops) the service is great and they are just really nice people. Next time your car needs service or maintenance, go try Family Auto Care.

I love these guys...they are awesome and very reasonable in Price...I took my car for an estimate to other shops they quoted double the cost...when i called for an estimate Sean and Nicole and staff was very professional...my car was repaired in a few days at a reasonable cost...If you are tired of getting ripped off call Family Auto care they will repair your car in a timely manner they are a real family to all of there customers...Anyone says different has mental issues....I love these guys...I will always give them my business.

I recently went to Family Auto Care for my 2001 Nissan Altima because my engine broke down on highway 12. As soon as I called Family Auto Care they made my problem, their problem. Brought my car in about 4:30pm and Family Auto Care had an answer about my car next day before noon. They gave me all the details about what was wrong with my car in words that I actually understood. The employees gave me all my options even when some of the option did not involve Family Auto Care working on my car. Very honest people! The employees there were very patient with me and all my questions. They kept their word on times they were going to call me back. Also when I called them, someone always answered the phone in a timely fashion. They are very considerate with my situation and let me leave my car in the shop for 4 days after I told them I will be going with an alternative that they suggested. This place is 5 star quality on Customer Service alone! I definitely found my new car shop!
