I have used South point auto on several occasions. Very quick and fair pricing always. Would definitely recommend South point and Tom to everyone who don't want to pay high dealer pricing. I have taken my BMW and 2008 Lexus RX350 and 2007 Lexus LS 460 to him whenever it needed service.

I have always heard very strong yet mixed opinions regarding this shop. Seems people either love the service and people here or they are way hard the other way. Today I thought I would check them out for myself and I have to say "I'm glad I did". I have several automotive issues with another vehicle that I will be asking their opinion on and so long as the price is fair I'm going to use them. It's hard to find a mechanic that you can trust. I am willing to take a chance with South Point Auto Repair.

I've had my Tahoe in twice recently. Once for emergency work and the other for oil change and alignment. Excellent work. Fair prices. Thanks to Tom and the gang for getting me back on the road!

I was ripped off by this crooked McKinney U-Haul dealer -- South Point Auto Repair at 909 West University (Hwy 380), specifically a man named Tom. I ask all of my Facebook and Internet brethren to never do business with South Point Auto Repair, never rent a U-Haul from them, and spread the word. I want them to take the screwing they handed me, but I want it magnified. I want them to feel the pain that consumers banded together on the internet can inflict on a crooked business. Spread the word to every Collin County resident you know. Boycott them, black-ball them. Starve them out. Normally, I don't rage this hard, but I will this time. Tom stated to my wife that the truck had "about 3/4" tank of gas when I took it. The attendant even pulled it out of the parking spot and looked at the dash and recorded the outbound mileage. I got the truck, and the gas gauge was about significantly under , but Tom said "about" to my wife, so I trusted, took the truck, and got to my business at hand. So I noticed that the gas needle NEVER MOVED on this truck in the 27 miles I drove it. The truck also stunk of cigarettes and body odor, and the interior was coated in dust and dirt. At least the truck ran... Anyway, I pumped in $12.00 of gas at $2.63 a gallon, or 4.56 gallons of fuel. Again, no movement in the fuel needle. I drove 27 miles, and pumped in 4.5 gallons of gas. Now, if I burned 4.5 gallons of fuel in 27 miles, the truck would have been getting 6 miles per gallon. An E-350 box van doesn't get that bad of mileage. I took the truck back, TOLD TOM the fuel gauge didn't register any fuel use, and that it didn't rise when I pump gas into it, and he says "Well, it went out with 3/4 of a tank." We argued, I called him a "lying sack of sh*t" to his face in almost a yell, and he charged me for an additional 3.6 gallons of gas at $4.00/gal. Tom was the person who READ THE ODOMETER FOR THE CHECK OUT MILEAGE, AND HE READ THE GAS GAUGE ON THE WAY OUT. HE COULD GET A WRITE DOWN THE NUMBER 103597.0 AND ENTER IT INTO A COMPUTER, BUT HE COULD NOT READ A GAS GAUGE ACCURATELY? THIS IS A SCAM. This is the closest I have ever come to getting in a physical altercation. Tom told me "I had better watch my mouth" I and asked him "Or what? What are you going to do?" There were other customers standing in the office, awaiting their turn at a screwing, so I wished he had tried something with me. I was ready to dance with him if he swung. Yes, I SHOULD have called him out immediately when I took the truck and pointed out that it did not have EXACTLY 3/4 tank of fuel. I didn't think I had to. He took advantage of the situation and overcharged me. For this type of dishonesty, South Point Auto Repair needs to go out of business.

My 17 year old daughter and I will not take our cars anywhere else. Tom handles all of the work on both of our cars, and has always been honest, trustworthy, and done great work at a price that can't be beat. He has never overcharged or tried to sell services I didn't want like other places have in the past.

Rented a 6x12 u-haul trailer here to pull up to Fayetteville. Did not fully inspect due to approaching thunderstorm. While pulling on I-40 realized it was beginning to pull a little strange. Pulled over to check tires and found 2 of the 4 tires on the tandem were slick and had cord showing. Very poorly inspected prior to delivering to customer. Had to call U-Haul roadside service and 2 hours later they came and replaced both bald tires with new ones

I like to give an zero star. Worst customer service and waiting area was extremely cold. I saw deal on living social, and called the store. They told me to come over, whenever I came , he talked about different stuff. He offered me ridiculous deal, which twice expensive than that. Do not even know how to treat their customer, made me wait an hour.
No recommended. Never coming back, it is the worst place I ever been.

I'm surprised by all the negative comments about this place. I've been taking my vehicles here for about 4 years now. The work is always done right and the prices are always reasonable. It's important to feel like you can trust the person who is working on your car and with Tom and the rest of the team at South Point I always do.
Also, just read a different review from someone else talking negatively about the U-Haul department. I've rented a U-Haul there on a few different occasions and the transactions have always been stellar in that department too. If he didn't have the size I needed, he made me a deal on a larger vehicle. If I brought it back a little low on gas, he encouraged me to pump a few gallons in because it would save me a significant amount of money.
I recommend this place to all my McKinney friends.

This place is a bunch of crooks! My wife went with a $27 dollar coupon for a synthetic blend oil change for my truck. They changed the oil with partial synthetic. She thought I said I may have wanted full synthetic and mentioned that to them after the oil change. She then asked them if synthetic blend would hurt my truck. They told her it MIGHT not. It is a Ford and comes from Ford when you buy it new with synthetic blend. Since 2011 it's only had regular 5W-20, no synthetic at all. They told her that she needed synthetic at a cost of $70, taking advantage and lying to my wife. She even asked if she could just pay for the oil change she had already gotten and take the truck home and ask me about it. They told her that she should just get the synthetic right then. She did and then told me about it. I called the owner and presented the problem. They said she asked for it and that's what she got. I told them about everything that was told to her and he acted like I didn't even say anything. He just kept repeating that she got what she asked for. I told them that their company lied to my wife and he said it doesn't matter what was said, she got what she asked for. Well I say, if you read this, and still go to this business, you get what you ask for.

Nice folks that did quick work on my truck. Balanced my tires and wheels and replaced a banged up running board. In an out and the price was very fair!

Scott was great, he seems like an honest guy. Unfortunately we got ripped of big time by the owner Tom. Fuck that guy. We needed our AC fixed and they had to put Refrigerant in the vehicle and an oil change. We told them the car had been in an accident before they started. Turns out the fluid immediately leaked out and turns out we needed to replace a hose that was 300+ with labor. We said no thank you to the hose and Tom still charged us $50 for labor and for the fluid that leaked out and I still have no AC. Fuck Tom. Scott, thank you for your time but you work for a douchebag. To top it off they put in and charges us for the wrong oil, thanks y'all you Really know how to treat your customers.

Unfortunately, things at South Point have apparently "turned south". In previous reviews I gave high marks to this independent shop. On Thursday around 3pm I left my car for diagnostics. In the past I usually received a call with a quote within 2 hours. The next business day, Friday was a busy one and I realized I never heard back from South Point. I called to learn that "Vinnie" was apparently alone and, one day later, still did not have a price on repairs for me. Needless to say I returned to pick up my car, sans repairs, as quickly as possible. On my last visit I noticed some familiar faces gone and I am now realizing all of the familiar faces are no longer at South Point. One my last visit I was also overcharged $50. I will never return to this shop for repairs and will certainly never refer anyone to this shop. Sad to see a good independent loose it's way.

Wow, I just moved to McKinney and found this place online. I got a huge thorn in my tire and needed an oil change. They fit me in last minute, which I sincerely appreciate with my busy work schedule. A lot of auto places require you schedule an appointment. The service was prompt, I was in an out. They took care of my woes and exceeded my expectations. I ended up having to order a Goodyear tire due to the location of the thorn and instead of going to Goodyear, I'm coming back here...because I love Yelp and Goodyear doesn't have as good of reviews;)

These guys are prompt, efficient and honest. I got an oil change quickly and at the same time, they also gave me the error messages on a Check Engine issue for no extra charges. Gary was politely, friendly and helpful. Would go back again in a heartbeat.

The right time at the right place! Received a flyer on my car, it happened to have three coupons for services I needed. I promptly drove to their location and took care of one of the three. I was the first in line and the wait for service is very short, very friendly customer service. I returned several months later to take care of an oil change and wheel alignment. Once again service is quick and friendly. By the way, they have reasonable prices. Four (4) additional quotes for alignment and South Point was the lowest. Keep up the good work South Point, the fruits of your labor will come!

These guys really took care of me. Had to have some brake work done to my Silverado and they were very reasonable and didn't try to tack on a bunch of unnecessary repairs. Gary is very thorough and knows how to take care of customers.
