Best shop I have ever dealt with. They were able to get everything I needed done quickly, Professionally and most importantly at a great price. For rear ends and other minor repairs I Highly suggest them.

Thanks Tim and Jim at just rear ends for the expert repair and a very fair price. Rear ends are very important so I'm glad to have a good connection.

These guys take the time to explain what, why, and how they are doing their repairs, which seems like a quality harder and harder to come by at any auto-shop. Very down-to-earth and trustworthy people.

My BF and I have become to trust Spencer here at Buggie Barn with all our non warranty VW repairs and maintenance. You'll get an honest estimate on you repair, even though you may not get a written signed estimate, like required in CA, Spencer runs an honest shop and will call you if there's any problems requiring extra work or parts. The price he quotes is always very close to the price you'll pay.
I was driving my BF's VW turbo wagon a while back, and was gettin on the gas pretty good, and the engine starts misfiring and the check engine light comes on. We thought it must be the spark plugs as they haven't been changed. So off to the Buggy Barn the cars goes. The plugs got replaced, no prob, but the engine still stumbled under full power. So back to Spencer the cars goes. He figured it was the coils, there's one for each plug. He replaced those with no charge for the labor ...nice guy! Then all was fine, full power all the way! Even though my BF lives in Carson City, he'll drive to Reno to get the VW serviced.
Spencer has always been easy to work with and we trust what he says, so there's no selling you stuff you don't need. He'll even work with your schedule and let you wait for you car for the easy things, so you get in and out with little time wasted. Trust, competence and fair prices, that's all you need, and the Buggy Barn delivers. If you have a VW or Audi or even a classic air cooled VW Bug, this is the place to come for service in Reno.

Update: I tuned up the car on a wed and drove to California on friday. I lost my headlight on the drive! Had to fix it in california. When the air filter was changed, the bolt was not put back on so the air filter so the unit was unstable pushing on the light housing. I cannot prove who did or didn't do something and the car headlight has a history of being sensitive. So to be fair, the missing bolt isn't suppose to really cause a problem, but I have a cry baby car. No matter what, the bolt should be put back on. Im not sure if the light was removed to get to the tranny. Everytime someone opens the car, something else goes wrong because things don't get put back correctly. Everytime someone touches the car, more bolts are missing! I spoke too soon. It is like this everywhere I go, even for the most simple services.

Our vanagon sprung a severe oil leak coming over Donner pass. The engine was extremely low on oil and knocking terribly when we got off in Reno. The tow truck driver suggested the buggy barn.
Unfortunately Spencer was extremely busy, but he took the time to look at the van and was able to immediately diagnose the problem as a bad main bearing. He didn't have time to fix it, but referred us to another mechanic and didn't charge anything for his time.

I'm so happy with the work you guys did to my 1973 VW camper. I love working on my bus myself. But some things are over my head. Very good prices, fast turnaround. I can't say enough good stuff about your service and attention to detail. I have used most of the shops in the area over the years. I'm going to be sticking with Spencer from now on. I highly recommend this shop. Thank you!

I had been going to buggie barn for years. When a new engine that they put in failed they denied coverage on a technical issue. I learned the hard way that spencer is a big a crook you could find. Also if you are a woman look out. They will treat you like dirt. Not the most honest place in Reno. Beware

After being quoted ~$500 for replacement of the front brakes and rotors on my Audi A4, I decided to call around. Glad I did, since Buggie Barn ended up charging less than $300. Super friendly service and they got the job done in just a couple hours.

I was travelling to Burning Man from Denver when my VW Rialta camper stated making a noise. When I called Buggie Barn they were up front and told me they couldn't get me in, but said come by and we can tell you if it's safe to drive. Which is exactly what I needed to know. He ran the codes and a checked CV joints, took it for a rest drive and gave me the name of the transmission shop he'd recommend. They didn't have to do anything, as it wasn't going to amount to any business for them. To take care of someone just because it's the right thing to do is a rare thing indeed.

This is a great place. Spencer is very knowledgable and they are not scared to work on cars. I took my vanagon here after a bad experience with another place and they fixed the problem.
I would recommend this place to anyone at anytime.... Glad there's a place like this in Reno.

Great service at a fair price. I took my bus elsewhere and they sent it to buggy barn and then marked up the price 10%
Save yourself the cash and headache and head over to the buggy barn first.
Turn around has always been quick for us as well

I've had alot of work done by these guys and they have always been honest and full of integrity. He said, one day, that he was so disgusted by the cheap and crappy muffler someone had put on our car that he would give me one that was better. He did! For aircooled bugs there is no better a place in Washoe. Avoid the others, save your money, get better work done... yeah I could go on for a while. I tried all the other guys around the area and they generally do crappy work and over charge.
If you go anywhere else you are throwing your money away.

People say it is hard to find an honest and fair mechanic these days and Spencer and the guys at Bugg Barn are just that. I have been going there for so long I can't remember how long I have been taking my car there. They do amazing work at great prices and are super nice and have always taken great care of me and my car. If you have an import, I cannot recommend them highly enough.

I took my Type 3 engine down to them so they could check it out because I had never seen it run since I bought the car from the previous owner. They are very knowledgeable, helpful and get the work done in a timely manner. They are very efficient and they are easy to get along with. When I picked up my engine, they never made me feel rushed while they were answering my questions. So far I'm thrilled and I'll definitely use their services again.

I had a terrible experience with a VW repair shop in Carson City. My car sat for 6 weeks in that shop without an estimate. The owner then had the nerve to charge me almost $100 for work he states he performed on the car. Save your money and aggrivation and go to The Buggy Barn! My 1971 VW convertible was towed there on a Friday, arrived at noon. I had an estimate of the damages by 2:45pm. Spencer and his crew had a new engine, heads, brakes, and a myriad of other repairs done to the mostly original and rusted car by the following Thursday afternoon. Not only that, but there was an issue with the new electronic starter, and I got stranded on my way home...and Spencer came and got me, made the necessary repairs, and was really kind as can be. Though the experience in Carson was unfortunate and costly, especially for the tow I had to pay for to get it to The Buggy Barn, it was well worth it. The car purrs like a kitten and I finally have the Bug of my dreams, and I have a mechanic I can trust. Thanks, Spencer!!
