New to San Diego, have 2008 BMW z. took car to the dealer, had problem with transmission. They said I needed a new transmission at a cost of over $5000! Japanese CarMasters was recommended by a co-worker at QUALCOMM. Took my car there. they checked it and found the problem was a sensor, fixed it for $125 dollars in about 2 hours. Manager, Larry was very professional, and the head mechanic Alex, really knows what he is doing. I give them 5 stars for fast and HONEST work.

Great Service, Great Price. Quality is legitimate, staff is knowledgable, Service has INCLUDED extended warranty, on service and parts performed by JCM. Multiple Lifts in Garage, Fully equipped with toolsets as well as various specialty tools. EXPECTED repair cost by me: $500+ ACTUAL repair cost by JCM $50. Owner Jeff is very knowledgable of mechanics, as well as his staff of mechanics that know a great amount about the work they do. The VERY BEST PRICE. JCM uses quality Japanese parts, and at virtually cost prices. There are some reviews that post negative remarks however, I did not experience those types of behavior during my visits here. Upfront and legitimate describe this business.

This repair shop is THE BEST I've ever had my cars serviced at in my life. They are honest, professional, highly experienced, and price is reasonable. My recommendation: if you have some simple needs, such as an oil change or replace a battery, etc., you don't have to go to this shop. However, in case the problem is a little complicated or pricy, then, most positively, give the Carmasters a try. I had my Nissan Maxima recently serviced at the Nissan Dealership for a fairly complicated smog issue, the Dealer wasn't able to correctly diagnosis the issue. Carmasters got it fixed within a very reasonable time frame and charged much less than what the Dealer had quoted for me

Amazing service, great staff, competitive prices. I am always hesitant to bring my cars in to repair shops, you've heard the horror stories: Horrible service, overcharged, tried to up sell, None of that occurred in the numerous times that I have brought my vehicle to Japanese. They have always treated me with the utmost respect, made me feel like a person not a moron who knows nothing about cars. Larry the manager, and manny the service tech told me upfront what the cost would be, ended up being a little cheaper, but, I would've paid the original quote I was that satisfied with the service, Definitely bringing my car back when needed. Japanese has earned a customer for life.

Jeff provides great service here, I had my alignment done for my car 2005 Acura and he and their team were helpful. For my first time visiting they were accommodating and timely. I would recommend going here and for the wait there are neighboring places to hangout in like McDonald's that has free Wi-Fi. However at the shop they have TV and Wi-Fi. Really I would come back because the service is great and accommodating.

Highly recommended!!! Toyota dealer wanted more than $1000 to fix a "leaky" power steering high pressure hose they diagnosed on a 2005 Highlander. Jeff estimated less than $500 for the job. But after he put the car up for examination, he showed me that the "leak" was very minimal with no need to even add fluid. No need at all to fix for the foreseeable future. And no charge for the diagnosis. An honest and knowledgeable mechanic! Going forward, will abandon the dealership and rely on Jeff for service visits.

After doing some mods in house to my 2015 mustang gt i needed to take it into a shop to have a couple things checked. I just moved to San Diego, and I took a shot in the dark calling a Smog testing/Car place. I moved from another state and it didn't pass "Emissions" testing where I lived before I moved here, so I was nervous. I dropped my car off, & it was there for a few hours. Jeff offered to take me home and then return to pick me up when they were finished working on my car, which was very convenient. I got a good deal on the issues I had to fix, and it passed the strict smog test, so it was a perfect birthday gift! Definitely check out this place-I am very picky about "quality of customer service" and they were top notch. Go in & ask for Jeff.

I took my 05 Honda here because I have been trying to get my car to pass the Smog Check for weeks. Because I recently had to reset my car's battery, the smog check monitor won't show the catalyst. I was told to "drive a certain way for a period of time" and I've attemped to do that but no luck. I finally was fed up and I took the suggestion of my guy at Smog Test Only Center (other side of the building) and took my car here to let the pros do it so I can submit my payment and get my registration renewed.
I was able to speak to the guys and leave my car here for them to work on when i go to work. The guy straight up said it'll cost $85 to fix it without really knowing the exact issue. I thought the price is a bit steep per pop especially it's a matter of driving my car a certain way. I saw that they maybe drove it for 15 miles and was able to get the monitor to show up within an hour or two. While I was glad that my problem was gone, I feel as if this wasn't the job that worth the entire $85. The staff was friendly but I really wish this specific job was a bit cheaper, especially given the situation. I was able to return to my smog test place and finish the smog check with them. This was the most expensive year for registration and related fees for me! (and there was not even anything wrong with my car! Just mechanical issue on the monitor side)
Good service and shop, but I'd recommend to come here for real issues on your cars. My cause wasn't worth the cost I paid.

Hands down to you & your crew, sir!
My boyfriend got his car's oil pan changed, tune up, & oil changed here. For a very reasonable price. We went to a couple shops for price check and was charging us double the price. So thankful to have listened to my brother's advice and brought the car here. We couldn't say enough good things to this shop!
A friend of ours was complaining how his "auto-mechanic friend" was charging him $1,800 to get his van fixed. (Can't even pin-point what the actual issue is). Told him about this shop. Charged him $800 with extra things done, ZERO charge. He even dropped him off & picked him up all the way to Chula Vista!
Will definitely recommend this shop to everyone i know!
Tips: Double check the name of the shop. There's another shop in the same compound with "Japanese" name.

My first experience here was great. On my way to LaJolla and my hose to the oil cooler comes off on my 2008 Nissan altima. ASAP towing picks me up and tells me about a mechanic. I say ok let's check him out. It was close to closing time when the tow truck driver and I arrived, but without hesitation they reclamped the hose and it only cost me $60. Every since then I come here with all my vehicle problems. I even show up here in my active duty uniform with no worry of being cheated or taken advantage of.
I was getting ready for a long road trip to Texas and they inspected my 2005 Chevy Trailblazer from top to bottom to make sure it was suitable for the trip. Only $50. This is an EXECELLENT shop to get vehicle repairs done for a fair price. They do not do wheel alignments. Besides that I can't say anything bad.

So here it goes. I call up Jeff and I'm like, "Yo!, your reviews are fucking awesome and I'd like to schedule an appointment". In the coolest manner, he shrugs the compliment off his shoulders because that's just how he rolls and proceeds to set the appointment. Unbeknownst to me, his shop is situated in the back corner of multiple shops. If you set an appointment with JCM make sure you give your car to the right mechanic. I accidentally gave my car to the wrong shop (Japanese Auto Plus). It's directly in the front but it's not JCM. However, Jimmy's customer service and understanding of my mistake was super cool. Jimmy is an awesome dude! After the confusion cleared, Jeff hooked the car up!! No more leaks, the engine was clean, mounts replaced, new breaks, and he even gave me this awesome warranty covered all over America. God bless you Jeff! You deserve a steak dinner, some craft beer, and $100 in 1's so you can make it rain and give them to the, well, never mind, we'll take about that in person. Anyways, his reviews are an understatement of his exceptional service and professionalism. I'd definitely recommend this place. God Bless America!

I recently had my 125,000 mile service completed by Japanese car Masters. I was warmly greeted and was happy to find a very clean shop. After my car started making a strange noise, A friend recommended taking it to Japanese car masters. Jeff was so informative and most importantly HONEST. I felt confident leaving my car in his hands. After telling me I had a water pump leak, I was worried about a huge bill, but found his estimate to be incredibly reasonable! It took a day to fix, and I loved that he called me multiple times to give me updates and let me know when to pick it up. Thanks to Jeff and Japanese car masters for making a generally painful and expensive process simple and stress free! Will definitely be bringing my car back again, and recommending them to all my friends.

I had my 2005 Prius air conditioner fixed by Jeff Arkin at Japanese Carmasters and I'm already a big fan. Japanese Carmasters is only a couple blocks north west of the former Furniture Pyramid on Carroll road. It's kind of hidden but there is a big sign in Red and screaming Yellow pointing to the entrance round the side of the industrial block it's located in. Jeff Arkin the new owner is a native of San Diego. He has been in auto service most of his life. A local of the beach communities he has the big grin and warm sincerity and honest sensibilities of a true San Diegan. Considering he has experience with Japanese makes (and in fact all makes of cars) I thought I would give him a try and he did a great job replacing the unusual type of air conditioner in my Toyota Prius. He brought in the repair under $850 including a compressor re-gassing and other parts. The compressor is electric not like in most cars. He helped me find one online that was decent and did the installation perfectly without unnecessary steps that could have been very costly.

I came into this shop to get an oil change. I was greeted with a friendly and courteous smile and attitude.
The service man took my car in and inspected it for other issues (which i knew i had a lot of) but was only kindly reminded of them. (at no time did I feel pressured to purchase other services). I waited in the lobby while the oil change was being performed as I flipped through magazines and the TV. I was even offered refreshments and candy.
It's a mechanic shop in between many other mechanic shops in a building across the street from the Pyramid (Where Ashley Furniture was previously located) on Miramar Rd. Check it out. They're friendly, fast, and very reasonably priced!

The manager "Manny" is a crook, he wanted me to pay 150 for a inspection. The diagnostics just said transmission with nothing else and a price of 2500 next to it. You think for that much you'd get a detailed list of what's wrong. When I refused to pay the amount he blocked my car in. This is actually illegal, both not notifying the customer of any service that exceeds 100 before hand and not allowing someone to leave for a petty 150.

Brought my 1990 Honda into them, they did a great job working on my clunker, and even told me what else I should do to improve the running of my vehicle. They did a great job at making me feel comfortable and never pressured me to purchase anything that I didn't need. Manny, the mechanic that worked on my car, did a great job looking it over and making sure that the car was in good standing shape prior to handing my keys back to me. I will keep going back, not just for comfort that they aren't giving me the run around but the fact that the price was perfect and in my budget. Kudos! Thanks guys for making sure I'm driving a safe vehicle!

Don't go here!!!!!!! My car died as I was about to get off of the freeway on a Friday at 5pm. My gas light came on, but I was not out of gas. When the tow truck came, the driver convinced me that I had to go here to fix me car. Saturday I got a call to come get the car and the guy was rude and bossy. I came to get the car to find out that he found nothing, but repeatedly told me to put gas in it like I was a stupid girl who had no idea that I needed gas. I let him know that I had gas and that the gas light had just come on which was why I was pulling over. The car ran fine until that Monday after work when it died again with a full tank of gas. Better believe after paying more than $80 for nothing I will NOT be taking my car here ever again.

My car had a broken clutch and after calling around to all the places on yelp, I found these guys! They were super helpful in giving me a quote and actually sticking to it! They told me that my car would be fixed for "no more than $500" and they were true to their word.
Mind you I only had some time towards the end of the day to make calls and actually called them around 5. The manager told me he would stay until 6:30 if I told them I would bring my car in. They arranged for a free tow (which showed up within the hour!) and got my car back to me in a few days!
Best of all, they were honest and always answered my questions over the phone if I ever needed to reach them. I would definitely recommend.

We had great service here. We had an electrical thing fixed that other repair places told us they couldn't do it or it would cost $500. At Japanese Car masters- We were charged under $300.
Then because of that, we came back in for our 100,000 mile check up/ "we are driving across the country better check our cars" check up. The guy recommended a few things per car. But he actually Kris Kringled us! He said, "This one needs new tires..etc, something something... But just go to a discount tire place. It'll be cheaper." Then he said, "Oh, you need a new air filter. But you can do that- Don't pay us to. It is simple." I loved that. That makes this place seem like really genuine people who aren't out there to cheat you. Refreshing!
Also, the guy in charge at this place is totally friendly and funny. You feel like you are getting help from one of the guys from "Car Talk" on NPR.

I first came here b/c of an oil change Groupon that I got. My first experience here was quite positive. When I brought my car in for an oil change, they didn't try to get me to fix every little thing that was wrong with my car. I get it, I have an old car, it's not in the best shape, but every other car repair shop I have taken it to has given me a long list of repairs that were absolutely necessary. The guys here definitely let me know that there were some issues but were not pushy in any way.
Fast forward to this past Labor day. Not only were they the only auto shop around that was open for business, but they were able to fix my overheating problems and have me back on the road that day. Even the tow truck driver (through my car insurance) said he always brings his car here and has never had a problem with them.

first he offered a refund and when he didn't hear back, sent this scathing message. based on my experience, all I know is that 1) the mechanic wasn't able to find the problem with my car, which apparently was glaringly obvious to my mechanic (it was the battery) and 2) I found the front desk guy's attempt at humor offensive ("lock the door to the restroom, there are a lot of pervs here," he said when I asked to use the restroom). I felt unnecessary services were pushed and I simply wouldn't recommend this place to friends because I don't trust it. If you had a good experience, good for you. As mentioned in my first review, it charges less per hour than a AAA-approved place. you just have to know what you're getting into and I'm personally not returning. And btw, everyone knows planted reviews very much exist. don't send me any more hate mail.
here is his message:
Just read your email again. Your complaints are bogus, as you know. Your oil was leaking, and we showed you everything so that you could see it with your own eyes. Nor did we lie to you. Also, cars all DO not have some level of leaks. They do when they are not maintained, like yours. My question is this: Why did you write this review? We did not charge you any diagnostic fee. We did not talk to you in a rude or condescending manner. Why would you be so mean? Your comments about our other reviews are awful. Nothing was planted, and if you check, Yelp has ways of preventing plants, just no way to prevent mean, hatefull people for attacking the innocent.

Pay attention to the trend for reviews. Bunch of five star reviews mixed with a bunch of one star reviews. This place is shady. Find somewhere else to spend your money that will back it up with a guarantee or a nationwide warranty. Had an engine repair done here and the car ended up with problem after problem after that, not to mention the crap service where I was told the car would be ready then showing up to find out it wasn't then having to call them to find out if it was ready...shouldn't they have called me? Bottom line, check them out on bbb and also look for their old name. Wish I had done my homework.

Took my z32 to Japanese Car Masters after having several quotes given to me that I wasn't satisfied concerning major oil leaks timing belt/alternator/thermostat you name it. I was lead to the company by the tow guy who helped me when my car died on me at a green light in North Park off Texas St and El Cajon. After his insistence I agreed to have my car towed there (which was free of charge btw).
I was greeted by the owner Manuel (Manny) who let me know he'd give me a diagnosis of everything that was wrong with the car. Other shops were only looking provide temporary fixes which meant I'd come back to them and spending more. Manny called me the next day by lunch and explained the issues and gave me a bottom line price as to how he could solve all my problems at a reasonable cost! I couldn't believe it as I even went home to calculate the cost of parts and was blown away considering a job like this would take weeks for others, Manny said he needed just 3-4 days!! I agreed and the car was waiting for me on the third day. I started it up and it sounded brand new. Since then I've brought Manny some exhausts and an X-Pipe to put on my Z and he hooked me up with lifting the car and replace the mufflers from quads to duals. People who told me to give up on the car now compliment me and asked whereI took it! The car turns heads on the road. I recommend this shop and plan on bringing my car back if ever a problem comes up. No hesitation. Thanks Manny!

I have never walked out of ANY auto repair place without feeling like I just got absolutely screwed over. Manny and his guys may work out of a modest shop that doesn't have all the BS and banners like chain places, but it's the quality of work and character that put this place as my go-to for anything with my car! They don't charge you for crap you don't need...they explain what's going on, not talk over your head...and they get you out the door without you having to waste your day away waiting on the workers to take smoke brakes like most places. I recommend this place to EVERYONE I know!

I came here via tow-truck since it was highly recommended by both my insurance and the towing company. I won't lie, it looks seedy, but the mechanics know their stuff. The diagnostic was free and they showed me what happened (burst pipe from the radiator to the engine) and told me how it happened (the thermometer gauge was blocked). The manager is a good guy, he gave me a ride to UCSD even though it was out of his way. I called in a couple of times afterwards to check in on the progress of my car and they were very accurate with their time estimates of how long the work would take. After the work was complete, I called again regarding pricing and somehow it was lower than what I had been previously quoted for. Overall they have great service, they're easily accessible, and they definitely know their stuff.

My 2004 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro decided to stop at an intersection around 6:30 pm. ASAP Towing picked up my car within 30 minutes and recommended I send my car to Japanese Car Masters. I am going to be honest, I was very skeptical because I usually only have my car serviced at Audi repair shops. To my pleasant surprise, even though it was after hours, a mechanic still at the shop, took my car in and said that they would run tests to diagnose my car in the morning.
I received a phone call the next day that my car needed a new fuel pump and filter. Amazingly, they went right to work and had my Audi ready by 4 o'clock that day! Larry (the owner or at least the manager) and Alex (the mechanic) put my mind at ease that genuine German parts were being put into my car (they even saved my old parts to show me why the part had failed and gave me recommendations for maintaining the fuel pump!)
From the beginning, I felt comfortable that this repair shop was not "trying to pull a fast one" or make me overpay for services or parts that I did not need. The entire staff was honest and straightforward about what repairs needed to be done. They quoted me a price and after I told them that the Audi repair shop had quoted lower because of a one time discount and a coupon I had, Larry matched the price.
**DISCLAIMER: I received a discount for my service, but I am guessing that there are some types of repairs that the shop may not or cannot discount for whatever reason. I just wanted to mention this kind act so a skeptic of the shop knows that they do not charge ridiculous prices or overcharge you!**
DO NOT let the name throw you off! They specialize and deal with all types of cars, I saw both a BMW and Mercedes being serviced while my Audi was being fixed. Overall I had a wonderful, fast, pleasant, fair experience with Japanese Car Masters and would highly recommend this shop to any one of my friends or family and to any YELP reader that is in search of a quality repair shop!

Without warning my car died and then let out smoke from the engine --- bad sign. It was towed to Japanese Car Masters where they examined it and discovered a crack in the block (really really bad) which means I needed my entire engine replaced. They found a great price for a used engine and gave a fair quote for the labor. I even brought my mechanic uncle there to verify the problem and he agreed with everything JCM said. Ended up that Honda has a little known "extended warrenty" for this type of problem and replaced my engine at no cost. Although JCM didn't do the work, they were VERY professional, visibly showed me the problem, honest, and had great customer service. I will bring my car to them for all my repairs in the future. I'm officially a lifer!

Honestly the worst service I have ever had. My car was in this shop for about 2 1/2 weeks. First off let me say that I had to bring my car back 3 separate times before it was even drivable. Second, it is currently about 2 weeks after I drove my car off the lot and it is no longer in a drivable state. I truly feel like I was taken advantage of. I recommend that anybody who has car problems in this area do everything to avoid this shop. BEWARE!

I do not understand about this 5 stars reviews:) its like a joke seriously..
so here its my experience;
- charged me for 35$ for the MOST expensive power steering liquid:) .
- problem diagnosis is ZERO (they couldn't see my power steering pump was gone).
- called back (July 22nd) for towing my car back to shop (2 times)....I have been told yes 2 times but as of now , I have not got any call back from Larry yet (surprisingly he was so friendly at first)..
-- do not listen any AAA driver for referral
-- do NOT go with YELP reviews..most of them are BOGUS
waste of my time...
and I really do hate car dealers and mechanics...
finally, find a better mechanic not this one..

Hello Larry, Thank you for reaching out to me. I wrote this six years ago as I used to work in that area. I understand that you are a new business owner. This shop is out of my way as I go to a place near my home in North Park now.
Unlike a certain BMW repair shop and Masters whatever their name is. I appreciate the fact that you reached out to me personally. All the best and much success to you and yours.
Yelpers - this new ownership may be worth a chance:
hi,
what do i need to do to make you happy? we are new owners since 06/2012, but still will take responsibility for your bad service. and we wont forget anything!!!!. how about a totally free oil change?
thanks,
larry
OLD REVIEW
They get two stars for only charging 13.00 for an oil change. Minus three for everything else. Seriously, how do you "forget" why a customer brought in their car? Never mind, I don't need to know and I probably will get my repairs done elsewhere. I was just lazy and this place was close.

I took a Honda Civic for an a/c compressor replacement. Alex (hope I got that right) did the job for me and was everything a mechanic should be. For a few extras he recommended changing, he explained why, was clear about price, and showed me all the parts after the job was done. Considering the job, the price was good. The office staff was also great.
I am comfortable returning and recommending the shop to friends.

Good service! I had a very pleasant experience with this business. Even though my car is not a japanese car (it's a Hyundai) they did an excellent job fixing it. Prior to taking my car here, I had left it at the Hyundai dealership for 2 weeks, and in all that time, they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. A little while later, my car happened to break down near JCM. They had the problem figured out within a couple of hours and the work completed in one day! Amazing! And the price they gave me was very reasonable. I would definitely return again if I need more work done to my car in the future.

Great experience at Japanese Car Masters! Was hearing some screeching and knew my brakes were out of whack so after asking a friend for recommendations on where to get it fixed, I called (a little frantically) and talked to Aleks. He told me to bring my car in later that day, did just that and it was a breeze getting my brake pads replaced, I picked up my car a couple hours later. The yelp deal I used which saved me $30 was just the icing on the cake! Even without the deal, a totally fair price. Had an overall great experience and will be recommending this place to friends.

these guys worked effortlessly on my jeep. i was towed, and the guy that towed my car took me to them, i was very skeptical because i thought that he was just sending me there because he knew them and they had some kind of deal going on, but i couldnt have been more happier. they are very personable, and some nights would stay late just to put some extra hours in on my car. i had to get a new engine, and they showed me what was wrong with my old one, and how to really take care of my new one. They were great to work with, and i will for sure bring my car back to them with anything!

When I got home today I was determined to write a review for Japanese Car Masters -- even though I don't write many reviews. My battery light came on... stopped at the Battery store and they told me it was probably my alternator... went to Pep Boys & they told me it would be $600 to fix... I thought I could get home and make a decision later... but sure enough - on the 15 freeway all my lights started to flash - and I quickly pulled off the freeway before my car totally died. I felt so dumb! Called Geico - and they hooked me up with a tower, and ASAP towing come to get my car. ASAP offered to take me to this mechanic - and I thought, man - I have no choice... they'll know I'm desperate and are going to charge me an arm & a leg! When I met the owner, Manny - I thought, "This guy has an honest face". And I was just amazed at his straightforward help, honesty, good work - FAST - and the total bill came to only $390 - $210 less than PEP Boys. Anyway - it's hard to find an honest mechanic - and I couldn't be happier with how they saved the day for me today. You won't be sorry if you go to Manny's place - Japanese Car Masters. (I have no clue what the problem is with the 1 star folks - but the great reviews here are genuine - I'm sure.)

Probably one of the most honest mechanics that I have found. They aren't pricey and sometimes I wonder how they make their money. They are pretty friendly as mechanics go. As a woman, I don't feel like they are trying to pull on over on me. Good people and good work.

Japanese Car Masters is one of the best, most honest mechanic shops I've ever dealt with. I lived in San Diego until 2006 and found them through a coworker's recommendation. The first time I went there it was for a 1994 Nissan that kept hesitating/jumping a few times a day. A couple of other mechanics could not figure out what the problem was, but Sam (the owner at the time) figured it out and fixed it within two hours. Since then, I owned one other car (a new Civic) and always took it to Andy (Sam's successor and protege) for both regular maintenance and the occasional hiccup. They required an appointment (usually available the next morning), and drove me to work after I dropped off my car. For most work, the car was ready by evening. Their service was always top-notch and fairly priced, including a discount on oil changes when I took my own quarts of synthetic oil.

I was skeptical when the AAA tow truck driver dropped my car off at JCM, as I suspected there might be some bias. Arturo came out and readily checked the car, which as it turned out was a rather simple matter, that could be remedied at a run-of-the-mill auto shop for less money. Arturo was friendly, as were the other mechanics in the shop. He didn't try to rip me off. Like another reviewer said, i don't know how they make their money. The diagnostics at the dealership would have cost $100 or more, I'm sure. I later took my car to JCM for another semi-related issue, for which they were not sure of the root cause. Even though the shop spent time looking for the cause, they didn't charge me a penny! As a woman, I can only say the $$$$$ signs stopped plaguing me, when Arturo said that if Honda could diagnose and provide an estimate, bring my car back and he would fix for less. Yowsa!! Now thats SERVICE!!!!! (and no, Arturo is not getting any kickback for this review!)

If you're ever stuck in the middle of a hot day, on the busy freeway, in rush hour traffic, with a dead engine, you need to call Japanese Carmasters! They will take care of you and your vehicle. That's exactly what happened to me. I picked up my truck from the docks in San Diego after it was shipped from Hawaii. Five minutes on the I8, the engine clicked, clacked and croaked. I was in an unfamiliar city and no one I knew came to mind. The tow truck driver recommended Japanese Carmasters. I knew they must have been related but I decided "what the heck". I had no other options. We agreed to have the truck towed to Japanese Carmasters. When we got there, I told Alex (the mechanic) I'd planned to work with my insurance company, but that I needed time to make that happen. He agreed, so my husband and I left the truck there and headed for home in Arizona. Alex kept my truck safe for a month while I worked out the details with the insurance company. He found me an engine, removed my old one, kept pictures for me, and didn't even charge me storage. He was patient and extremely helpful. God took care of me in this situation, but Alex was the one he sent! As you can see, Alex deserves five stars, an A+, and if you're from Hawaii, a great big Mahalo!

Another lucky family referred to Alex by a tow truck driver! Our trusted mechanic of 15 years lost his lease and for over a year we went place to place trying to find someone who could come close to giving us the peace of mind we had been so lucky to have. Alex/Japanese Car Masters is the best thing we've had happen to us! We have three older cars he keeps running smoothly with inexpensive maintenance. He's so busy, no doubt because of the way he runs his shop and treats his customers, that he doesn't have the time or need to find things to fix that don't need fixing! And it seems he'll work on anything. We just acquired an old, long-neglected, 31' RV knowing we could count on him to get it running almost like new at a price we could afford. Just picked it up and am posting this review because we need Alex to stay in business for a very long time!!!

Alex is the best mechanic I know...I've known him since 2004 when he was at a different shop till now I take my car and all my family and friends cars as well...he knows what he's doing and has a masters degree in automotive engineering...he pretty much tells you exactly what's wrong and what it takes to fix it that way you know where your money is going.....and if he notices anything else that looks or is going bad he will also inform you about it...5stars because you won't find another mechanic like him...I recently got my abs module for my BMW and it was a better job than the dealer and more than half the cost...I will always take my car to him because in my opinion a good mechanic is someone you can trust..and if you don't wanna take my word for it than you should try him out you have nothing to lose...also if he does the repair its free towing just in case you break down somewhere..also Larry in the front very knowledgeable person he knows what he's doing..not like other receptionist at other shops...

These guys are great! They are affordable, fast and efficient. My boyfriends car got royally fu*ked up next door at Japanese auto and we had to bring it to Andy at Japanese Car Masters and his guys fixed it with no problems. I trusted my car to him to to do the 120,000 mile maintenance. They did such a great job and I got my car back the same day unlike my boyfriend who had to leave his car with Japanese Auto for 3 days because they screwed it up so badly!
