Peterson Auto & Truck has been taking care of my older model vehicle for two years. Whenever I have a car issue I try to educate myself to know what I'm in for.... Peterson's has never tried to pull one over on me, or up-sell me. I've always found them to be honest, provide great quality at a fair price and Kevin goes above and beyond to make your experience better than hoped for. I happen to work nearby Peterson's, so let me begin by promoting the fact that these guys give up to a 20% discount because of it..not too shabby, considering that most auto places want to charge MORE! I had my starter die on me a few months back..but these guys were great at making me get a little piece of mind. No tow charges at all, reasonable price & friendly service. I, unfortunately, had my alternator just die on me yesterday, but knew I could count on Peterson's to get me back on the road. My repair & oil change was completed first thing the next day. Not one single complaint AAAAAAA++- HANDS DOWN

I found this shop on the web a...

I found this shop on the web and I'm glad that I did. All the good reviews on here are the truth. The customer service is excellent. The job they did on my Cadillac was great and now I feel that all the places I went for service in the past including the dealership were just ripp offs. Peterson Auto & Truck takes care of business and I would recommend this auto shop to anyone who's looking for the best service in town.

Best shop I have ever found and here is why. I have never had a business so interest in my being 100 % satisfied as Peterson Auto and Truck. Kevin or Chris most patiently and thoroughly discuss what work needs to be done. They won't over sell you or over price you. Even if you have been going to your favorite shop in the past, I would say stop in and talk to Kevin or Chris. I believe you will switch to Peteson for all you future repair work. I first visited Peterson's North St Pete location a couple of years ago...diagnostic narrowed problem to two possibilities....one an easy fix, the other expensive. I had heard good things about Peterson's and took a chance... they could have recommended the expensive item and I wouldn't have known the difference....but they didn't. Won my trust from the first day. Their honest and cost effective plan to bring an older model up to snuff was a winner. My most recent repair found me at the Pinellas Park location where I met Kevin. I never used to utter the words mechanic, trust, fair and thrilled in the same sentence... but now i do. You can trust the mechanics at Peterson Automotive and Truck...you'll be thrilled with their customer service, quality work and fair pricing. Thank you Kevin, you and your staff rock!

Randomly found on Yelp as my car wasn't going to make it home across the bridge from work. They fit me right in and fixed my car which I was told by another mechanic it was something different. So glad I found this shop! Actually had to come back two days later bc my horn died again and finally found the real issue as I was told something different before (again). Glad these guys took the time to really look at the issue and FIX the problem! Found my new place!!!! Kevin is great!

The most honest, professional,and kind auto mechanics! Not only do they do an amazing job taking care of your car, they are one of the most honest mechanics I have come across thus far. In my past experience with OTHER mechanics has always not been so stellar. I believe bc I'm a woman other mechanics usually try to over bill me, and almost always try to pull one over me. But not Peterson Auto and Truck! They took care of of my problem literally in minutes, and I only had to tip the awesome mechanic who fixed my car. I was in such awe of how genuinely good this business was I came straight to the nearest Starbucks to let everyone know this business is the one to go to when you need work done on your car. I had a loud sound when I was accelerating. Dropped it off at Peterson Auto & Truck so they can look at it. They found out the air box was loose, and tighted it up at no charge. Sound gone! I would definitely come back here the next time I need something. It was nice getting a simple fix at no cost in today's world where everyone wants to charge for everything. Thank you Peterson!

Sent my Jaguar there to replace both fuel pumps, and was met with professionalism and reasonable price provided the job was quite a challenge. Sunny was great, courteous and personable. The mechanics admittedly cursed my beloved car, but it was expected being a Jaguar, but without a doubt, it's Sunny that makes Peterson Auto a well oiled machine. Will go back again surely.

Having no prior car problems and even going to get my car maintenanced at another auto shop only weeks before, my car ended up breaking down on I-275. I had my car towed here, never having heard of the place before. I had to drop it off at Peterson afterhours and Kevin called me within a few hours the next day, knowing what was going on with my car. Turns out it was recall problem that was 100% covered by my dealer. Kevin went through the trouble of tracking down the number for me to call for free roadside assistance from my dealer and he spoke to the people at my dealership to tell them what was going on with my car and to expect me to come. He even offered to accommodate my schedule for when I'd come pay my very minimal diagnostic fee. If I was running late or early, he told me to just let him know when to expect me. He and Bob even checked in on me after I picked up my car to make sure everything was fixed. They went above and beyond the call to take care of me! I'm very grateful that I stumbled upon a shop that cares about quality, courteousness, and taking care of their customers even if it doesn't mean they make big bucks off of it (which they definitely could of, if Kevin didn't take the time out of his schedule to do a little research and learn that I could get the work done for free at my dealership). All the people working here were very friendly and welcoming, and it's obvious they really care about their customer service. I highly recommend taking your car to be maintained or fixed by these good, honest, hardworking people.

I took advantage of a coupon to get an oil and filter change and I'm sure glad I did! Chris and Kevin were all about customer service, made sure that I was pleased with the work, and noted a few things that their thorough inspection showed may need to be tended to in the future. Brought my truck in to get the dash vents working again. It's a big job and they got it done right. Also had them change and flush my transmission fluid. The price was right. The service was fast and friendly. I will be bringing my truck back for all of my maintenance needs. These guys are trustworthy and reasonable.

With 5% oil life and being new to the state I had to find a new shop. I was spoiled for the last six years when it came to car repairs considering my wife was in senior management at the local Honda dealership. I turned to yelp in search of my new shop. All the local big chains had poor reviews. I only needed an oil change and tire rotation and was pleased enough to book an appointment for service on my other vehicle. Staff was friendly; however, there are four doberman's on site and coming from a large city (even having two large breeds) the dogs caught me guard and after a minute the guy asked me if i mine of which I didn't.

I found a coupon for a discounted oil change and decided to use it. When I first called, the gentleman in the phone was very pleasant and very helpful with location and information. Without the information I probably would've missed where the location is because it shares a building with another business and google maps wasn't very helpful either.
Once getting there the man there again was very friendly and overall helpful. He did tell me that it'd take time to do my service because there was a car ahead of me. I don't mind waiting when I'm informed I have to wait. They still had me out an 1.5 hours and followed up with me a few days after to ask me how my car was running. Exceptional service. My only gripe is that the waiting room is extremely small. TVs a little outdated but they showed pretty good. Other than that, great service and great hospitality overall.

A good honest garage. We took her car there after Bob Lee screwed it all up and tried to hide it (i'm not joking) and they took care of the headache. They kept us informed the whole way and talked through our different options. Prices was a fraction of what BobLee charged and they actually did the job and did it right. They are solid mechanics who know their stuff.

It's rare to find an honest car repair shop. Oftentimes, mechanics are known to inflate prices and sell services you don't really need. This business is not about those shenanigans. They are honest, quoted me THE BEST price on labor after calling 4 other shops (including the Nissan dealership) who quoted me from $200 to $500 more on the same service. Furthermore, I was the one who inquired on what else the car needed rather than them trying to sell me on unnecessary purchases. I will be coming here for all of my automobile needs from now on.

I came in from out of town to buy a used vehicle and found Peterson Auto Repair on Yelp. I made arrangements to have them inspect the vehicle for me. Chris was awesome to work with! Upon inspection, they pointed out some things that needed to be addressed immediately and items that I may want to check out later. They were quickly able to fix the car before I left for home back to Michigan. I would definitely recommend them!

I'll start off with the smart aleck at the front desk. He was very condescending and made out like I don't know anything about cars. (Probably because I am a woman). I asked to get my automatic window fixed but I didn't want to pay for the entire window kit. He ended up trying to charge me $650 for a window kit because they couldn't figure out the problem. I had to pay him $67 for a diagnostic fee. When I picked up my car he said he couldn't lock my keys in my car because he didn't know how. Therefore I had to pick up the car while they were open which was hard for me because of my work schedule. How can a mechanic not figure out how to lock my keys in car? You put them in the glove box and hit the lock button! I've locked my keys in my car plenty of times. . Anyways, I found someone to narrow down the problem and only charged me $200! It's 6 months later and my window still works!

Car troubles are never fun, especially when your car has issues during a vacation out of state. After driving to St. Pete with a slow leak in my radiator, I needed to get the repair done before driving back to North Carolina. I've had issues with car service recently, so I'm very cautious when it comes to finding places to trust my car with. I'm glad I trusted all of the positive reviews on Google and Yelp. Mike was great and had a new radiator installed in my car the same day. Unlike some other reviewers, I found the cost to be in line with other local shops and much less than you would spend at a dealer. I would definitely recommend this shop.

I purchased a groupon for Peterson Auto & Truck and decided to swing by without an appointment (the groupon explicitly said call for appointment... but hey, I like to wing it...) They were nice enough to squeeze me in anyway :)
They did a wonderful job with my car. My engine light was on and they fixed it free of charge since it was just a gliche in my car. Most car places will try to squeeze as much money out of you as possible but peterson auto and truck are honestly about providing quality service. I wasnt heckled into buying more products, add-ons nor did they throw fancy big car words in my face. They just did the job amazingly and was even *wait for it* friendly with me!
This is an amazing place and the service is top notch. I would recommend this place to others and will be going back.I rarely give any business 5 stars but they definitely deserve it!

There are a few things in your life that are really important. And one of those is knowing your mechanic has your back. I traveled from Michigan, where my Honda had been in for repairs.
After two additional repair facilities, I found Petersons. They actually have three locations but Im so glad I ended up at the 118th Street center. From the moment I spoke with Bobby, he reassured me that they could handle the job.
After a detailed diagnosis, Tony determined that I had a defective part coming out of Michigan. Two other repair facilities AND the Honda dealer did not catch this.
I am so glad I found Petersons. Forever grateful guys. I can get on the road again!

Bought a Groupon for Peterson Auto & Truck after I saw all of the awesome reviews online. And they did not disappoint! Scheduling the appointment was easy and when I got there I didn't have to wait for service past my appt time.
Dusty, the service advisor- friendly, personable, professional and very helpful. This is customer service at its finest. I am usually uneasy when getting my car serviced since I am female and I've had places try to pull one over on me before, but this didn't happen here, I felt very comfortable. He gave me his business card and some coupons for next time..actually lots of coupons- I love coupons!
They had a small waiting area that didn't smell like oil and grease (yay!) and my car was done pretty quickly. I've found my go to place for all of my family's car repairs and I will definitely be recommending them to all of my friends and coworkers in the area. I live in Tampa but I'm only going to Peterson Auto because they've taken care of me above and beyond what I've paid them for. They are very fair priced and professional to deal with. Now they treat me like a friend! They know me by first name and take care of every little thing I need big or small. They're more than qualified to service my German model Audi and are the most trustworthy mechanic I've experienced since I've lived in Tampa 7+ years. In Decmeber 2013, I purchased a groupon for 3 oil changes, a tire rotation, wiper blades and 59-point inspection thinking who can get 3 oil changes in 5 months? you must be able to use it on multiple cars in the same appointment, right? Not so, says Peterson Auto & Truck.
Made appt for 1pm after describing the situation to the guy who answered and he said absolutely, no problem! Show up for appt before 1pm and he says, nope, can only do 1 car. My appt was for 1, my car didn't go in until 1:30. The oil was changed and tires rotated, but the 59-point inspection consisted of the guy telling me, "You'll want to just follow the standard vehicle guidelines for maintenance".
Awesome, so I paid $40 for ONE oil change, wiper blades and a tire rotation. I'd never bring my vehicle here - bad service, slow service, didn't fill obligation.

This is for the MLK St N shop. Brought my 2007 BMW 335i in for overheating. Kevin and the mechanic looked it over and drew up a list of concerns. They identified the water pump as the problem but also noted some other important issues, like front brakes. Their price was the best around town by almost $100 and the work was done quickly and using BMW OEM parts and fluids. Most of all I felt I was dealing with an honest and kind man which is SO IMPORTANT with your car. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Went in for an oil change and the owner and a mechanic were both very nice. Don't usually expect that from a maintenance shop! They gave me honest estimates and reasonable prices. One of the items they wrote up was my wiper blades which I knew were bad but I just figured I would wait and pick them up another time. As I was leaving the owner came out and grabbed 2 new blades and put them on for free because he was concerned about my visibility with all the rain we have been getting. Talk about customer service. I appreciate the service guys and will be back! Keep up the great work. For St. Petersburg people, there is one on MLK and 83rd at the Mobil gas station. Highly recommend using these guys over any other shop in the area!

I am not really sure how I should review this place....I guess I have to first say that every one I have met there has been friendly, and its not hassle to schedule an appointment. I fist took my car there to get an oil change and the tires rotated and balanced. The prices were fair and I was in and out of there in no time flat. Most recently, I took my car in to get an oil change, coolant flush, serpentine belt check, and have them do an overall inspection because I believe in preventative maintenance and catching a problem before it happens. I was informed that my front struts and shocks were bad and that it would be wise to change them out. I had noticed some knocking while driving so I went ahead and did it. The universal shocks and struts that they put on are priced around $140 and I was charged $240 each so there is $200 in over payment. I was then charged a full hour of labor for a serpentine belt which is a 10 minute job so there is another lets call it $70 in over payment. I checked the time it would take to do the front struts with 3 SEPARATE mechanics and was told a maximum of 40 minutes each side since they were the universals that required less work, so lets call it 1.5 hours. I was charged for 2.5 hours so there is another $100 in over payment. All in all I payed about $400 more than what I should have. When I brought this up I feel like I wasn't being taken serious. When I asked about why I was charged so much for the struts they said that it what they paid for them from where they got them...I got the part number and called where they got them and that was NOT the price they paid. I understand a parts markup for a business to make money, but that does not give that company the right to flat out lie. When I asked about the labor charges themselves I was told basically that the owner can charge what he wants. It is extremely hard to find a mechanic and I believe very strongly in small business, but I think from here on out I am going to have to stick with a bigger chain mechanic. I would highly recommend that you DO NOT go here.

I honestly could not believe how great this place was. I know NOTHING about cars and always get terrified when I have to take my car in for service. I was very pleasantly surprised when I called to schedule my oil change, the person who answered was so friendly and nice, later that day I had to change my appointment due to a work conflict that had recently come up so again I called and spoke to a man who was just as nice! (seriously TWO nice people at the same company) When I dropped off my car the man that I dealt with was a nice and sweet as anyone could be. They changed my oil, rotated my tires (for real, they didn't just say they did it like the dealership), and did a full inspection of my car. They told me everything looked great...made NO attempt to sell me on anything. When I went in to pick up my car they were even nicer than when I dropped it off! I have never left a auto shop where I felt like I wanted to hug everyone before I left! This place was AMAZING! If you need any work done, or just an oil change...GO HERE!

Wow I must say there is no bigger stress than when a car breaks down. All that stress and worry has been put to rest. I drive a 2004 MERCEDES and my wife has a CHRYSLER minivan. Well the MERCEDES broke down at 9pm on a Monday, I was stuck. I called PETERSON AUTO expecting to leave a message but was pleased to find a REAL PERSON answered. I paused for a second cause I was in shock and then proceeded to explain what happened to my car. A tow truck was dispatched and I was on my way home,(all within a hour of my car breaking down). The following day I was advised my serpentine belt had broke due to some pulley going bad, PS I'm not really a car guy. The repair was fast,affordable and was completed by lunch. To top it off they came to pick me up so I would not have to bum a ride from one of my coworkers. Customer service is alive and kicking at this place. 5 stars
