I found Fair Auto on yelp, after being a customer of a competitor down the street, whose service seems to have dramatically declined over the past few years. Simply put, this place was awesome. Bill was friendly, knowledgeable, and didn't pressure me into anything extra my car didn't need. Left the car overnight for an oil change and came and picked it up the next day. Quick and painless. I will definitely be telling my friends and family to come here.

I've been living in HB for almost 5 years now and I've had a few different auto mechanics during this time. None compare to the service I receive from Bill over here at Fair Auto. I've brought my minivan to him a few times now, and have always been very happy with the work done.
My most recent experience here was over the top! My power sliding door on the passenger side had been broken for over two years. I was going to bring it to Honda, who barely even looked at it and said I needed a whole new door, cables, rollers, etc etc and it would cost easily over $1000 to fix plus they'd need my van for at least a week! (I cannot be without my van for that long, which was why I hadn't gotten the door fixed yet.) Finally, I had enough and was just going to submit to insurance when my husband suggested I take it here (to the mechanic I had raved about to him) and see if Bill couldn't fix it. Sure enough, Bill and Sergio took the door apart, saw the problem, ordered the part, and I brought it back to the when it came in. Three hours later my slider was finally fixed and it only cost me $350! And I didn't need a new door, new cables, etc.
I wouldn't have know one way or another if my van door would've required extra parts, but Bill is a very honest man and he's the only mechanic I will ever bring my van to from now on!! There were other times when I suspected my van needed more work than it really did, but Bill did not take advantage of my ignorance. He only fixed what truly needed to be fixed and doesn't charge an arm and a leg. They also inspected the rest of my van and topped off fluids at no charge, without me even asking! It doesn't get better than this!
Also, Fair Auto is located very close the the library so you can relax while your car gets repairs. I had 4 kids with me the day I dropped it off to get the door fixed and we just hung out at the library and park, no big deal!

Recently went to Bill to have him work on my BMW M3 and i am really glad I did. I personally try to do as much as work as I can on my own vehicles but since my relocation to the area I don't have an area to work on my cars now. With that in mind, I searched Yelp for a reputable shop to do the work and got connected with Bill.
The work I needed done was a rear wheel hub, rear wheel bearing and rear axle replaced/repaired. Bill was able to get it in the next morning after locating the required parts. Not only did he beat his originally quoted price, he was also done with it sooner than quoted. For me those are solid selling points for being a good mechanic.
I don't want to forget to mention that all the noises are gone and the car was repaired perfectly. Bill didn't try to force me into anything else or sell me on fixing anything outside of what I asked.
I will continue to use Fair Auto because their names states they are one of the fairest mechanics I have been to in a long time.

I can't recommend this place enough. A small garage with personal, excellent service and great prices. Bill is all about no nonsense and he'll give it to you straight. I always recommend this place to my friends. If he can't fix your car, he'll recommend you to someone who can, but it's rare that he can't. He's a good guy that can be rough around the edges if you have no sense of humor or understanding. If you're in Huntington and are looking for a good honest mechanic, give him a call. Be sure to call ahead because he gets busy after 9am.

Fair Auto is the best place for any car repairs or service! Bill is very friendly and knowledgable. Sergio does excellent work. And... the prices are much lower than the dealer's and the work is MUCH better than the dealer's. I have had many oil changes, clutch replaced, new tires and struts, new brakes (my car is old) -- so I know they do great work all over the car. My car is always better when I leave. Bill, the owner, is the real deal. He's a straight shooter and a nice guy. I HIGHLY recommend Fair Auto to everyone I run into.

I have been bringing my cars to Fair Auto since 2010. The company name says it all. The owner, Bill, is as fair as it gets. He only charges me for what I need and nothing more. He is polite, respectful, and has a great personality. Bill and his mechanic, Sergio, are a great team and work very well together. They are quick, efficient and wonderful to work with. It's on Gothard St and Talbert Ave in Huntington Beach.
I found it on Yelp. I passed by here all the time, but I didn't pay attention to it till I needed oil change around here. You see only simple business buildings around here - except for the school across the street.
Bill was very friendly, fast and honest. He isn't pushy for up-selling.

I really don't have a particular spot for oil change. I do it sorta anywhere when I need it. I hate pushy up-sell and bluffing as if my car needed something (it seems to happen all the time when I needed oil change, even if I took my car to another auto shop and was guaranteed everything was fine beforehand). I tend to avoid big giants (PepBoys, jiffy lube etc.) due to their pussy up-sell tactics.
Very friendly, fast and honest - I'll come back IF there's something wrong with my car and I were around here ;p Even though my car weren't broken, it's good to check out the car regularly. They could find a spot to fix it right away with very reasonable price and for a short amount of time. No pushy selling. I like here!

Came here because of the great reviews. I had a door light on the inside of my car not working & a door lock not working. I had thought it would be really expensive to repair electrical within the car for my light & the door lock I thought would be expensive & possibly order a part to fix. They fixed the light in my car, no charge, unbelievable! AND they reattached the lock mechanism & only charged $31! If I'd have gone to the dealership I know they would have "had to order a part" for each repair & they would have been $200 a pop. So happy I found this place!

Live next door to this place and last night I got a nail in my tire after having a stressful night and waking up to a completely deflated tire making my morning even more stressful I looked up places on Yelp when my coworker reminded me of this place next to our apartment. I have know Bill for about 7 years now. Outside of dealerships, he is the only mechanic I trust underneath the hoods of all my vehicles. His advice and diagnostics have always been spot on. And, his prices are legit. Bill has gone above and beyond customer service. Several years ago, my truck broke down after hours. I called and left him a message about working on it the following day. He called me back that very evening to confirm his availability for the next day. I love calling or visiting a place and the Owner knows me by name.

I have a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser and had problems with my alternator. I called a few local auto repair shops and got a price quote. Fair Auto Repair was the most expensive quote I got, however, after I spoke with Bill, the owner, I felt very comfortable that he would get the job done properly and judging by other yelp reviews, I didn't mind paying an extra $20-30 bucks.
I had called Bill and told him I will be taking my car in later in the afternoon. When I got there, standing around, I noticed a delivery guy came and dropped off some parts. Come to realize, Bill had ordered the replacement parts to my car, prior to me even dropping it off! That's quite AWESOME!!!!
Since I had dropped off the car about an hour prior to closing, my plans were to leave the car over-night. After I had left, Bill called and said I also needed to replace my battery. So, I ran out and bought the battery and dropped it off the same evening. When I got there with the new battery, he said that if I hang out for about 20 minutes, the car would be ready. How cool was that??? He was able to squeeze me in the same day and got the job done.
Bill has been in this business for over 30 years, and trusted mechanic! Highly recommended!

Back in November, I met Bill, the owner of Fair Auto, in a casino in Vegas while my boyfriend was placing a football bet. As we chatted, he told me a bit about his business philosophy and family. I quickly discovered he was a huge Steelers fan, too, which led me to the conclusion that he HAD to be a good guy. I told him that, as luck would have it, I was looking for a mechanic (my 3 year warranty on my car was about to expire) and, call me paranoid--perhaps I've watched one too many Dateline sting operations about dealerships--but I wanted to continue my service relationship with someone trustworthy.
Today I took my car in for an inspection (tire rotation, oil change, etc.). Bill's mechanic discovered an internal coolant leak and suggested I contact the dealership to see if it was covered (lucky for me, the powertrain warranty on my car is 50K/6 yrs; my car is 3 years old with 35.5K). Otherwise, I would have been looking at a several thousand dollar repair! Yikes! Seems that I couldn't avoid the dealership after all.
It took them a bit longer than I expected to finish the car (about 2.5 hrs.), but the wait was bearable. He has the TV on in the waiting room and you can connect to wifi if you have a laptop. Overall, I was pleased with my service and Bill's honesty and pressure-free style.

THE WORST!! I brought my 03 mustang in because it wouldn't idle due to an obvious air leak problem. Got the call that they got it running fine but it would need new plugs, wires and coils for an extra $300 on top of the $700 charge! Which by the way is complete bull because the two sensors(Which sit on top of the engine held in by two bolts) that they replaced are only $100 each. DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE!! THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF.

Was on vacation in Huntington Beach and needed to take in my Toyota Prius for a check up. The car alignment was off and when turned on the car was making a strange noise. I went to Fair Auto due to the wonderful Yelp reviews and was very satisfied with my visit and time spent chatting with Bill who was knowledgeable and friendly. Bill was very honest and transparent in diagnosing the issue (new tires needed as we had previously been sold a flawed/cheap set by another mechanic). He referred us elsewhere for the tires and called the Goodyear store he sent us to ahead of time to ensure they'd be able to take care of us in a timely fashion. Bill is amazing.
If the Autobots crashed in Huntington Beach and needed repairs, I would send them to Bill's. And Bill would probably fix them all for free. That's the kind of person he is.
Kind, personable, and definitely puts the 'fair' in Fair Auto. Come here unless you want to pay triple for your repairs. But be understanding! People in the area are taking notice and Bill is getting lots of business. Good for him! But bad for you if you're impatient or need something done yesterday and procrastinted!

My wife and I just moved to HB from New York and were apprehensive about having to find a new mechanic. So, we went to our trusty Yelp app and found Fair Auto right away. Thanks to the Yelp community for turning us on to such a fantastic, honest mechanic. There aren't many of them out there, but Bill and his crew are the real deal. We went in expecting to shell out 3-500 bucks for a new muffler, but Bill immediately got to the root of the problem himself, and we left only 108 bucks out and with a fresh oil change. Love this place. They are really honest and get the job done. This is my third visit and I have received great service every time. Being young and poor I always try to find places that will not only give good service but honesty and integrity in pricing. I recently took my car into Fair Auto to have my car serviced, before a long road trip. The owner Bill is a sincerely nice man. He was honest about what needed to be done, and what didn't (unlike the dealership). He fixed everything in a timely manner and the price was great. I was so impressed with him and his work and his work ethic. You don't find this kind of honesty and hard work anymore, but you will here . My niece and I were having ice cream before I went back to pick up my car. I was so impressed with him, we brought him some too! Today was my second time taking my car to Fair Auto and I would definitely recommend it! Bill does a great job at communicating what the possible issues could be and he is trustworthy. When I moved to Huntington Beach I had the daunting task of finding a mechanic. I know nothing about cars and honestly I really don't want to have to know why my check engine light is on. I started taking my car to Bill at Fair Auto a little over 2 years ago. After the first time he worked on my car I got a call from Cindy to make sure everything was running ok. They are both attentive and really want to make sure that you are safe in your car.
My car isn't the newest model so I need service more than the average bear. But every single time I need to take my car in I trust that it will be serviced in a timely fashion and that I will definitely pay a fair price. Not to mention the fact that Bill shows me what is wrong and explains what has to be taken care of immediately or lets me know if I have a little time before I have to fix it. I appreciate his honesty and integrity.
If you are in Huntington Beach and have a car, this is your spot. Oh and they do everything here. I've had my window motors fixed, smog, brakes, tires, alignment, emissions system, catalytic converter, and some dealy-bob fixed.

Found Fair Auto on here back in September when I was having car troubles and dealership was quoting me outrageous numbers to fix it. My check engine light had been on for a while and my PT Cruiser has a trick to get the error code. I got the code and called Bill at Fair Auto. I told him what the code was and he immediately identified the problem. I was impressed with his knowledge so I took my PT over to him that evening. I later found out that he used to work for Chrysler, so as long as I have a Chrysler I will be taking it to Fair Auto for service. They worked on my car back in September and it has been running like new ever since.

My favorite mechanics, Patrick and Michael over at 5-Points 76, sold their business and left my family without a mechanic.
I hold very few people near and dear to my heart. My family physician (just breaking in a new one after dumping my old HMO beast), my dentist (this won't hurt a bit) and my mechanic.
Having a bad one can cost time, money, pain, and a lot of stress. Yelp helped me find my new mechanic and it was quite easy.
I dropped off my Acura TL at about 3:30pm and let Bill know the issues I was having. He promised a quick turnaround. I got a call at 7:15pm telling me the maintenance work I requested was unnecessary. First of all, a mechanic and business owner is making calls at night?? Unheard of. Secondly, I asked him to do what I though was scheduled maintenance and he told me checked with Acura and it was not needed for another 50,000 miles. The rest of the work was done quickly and efficiently.
So the guy works hard, does his research and does not rip me off.
Color me satisfied.

Some lowlife stole the cat converter off of my Accord. I had to go through insurance since my specific cat converter was around $1400.
Bill was great. He was very helpful and patient with the whole process of getting my car back in working shape. My insurance company was giving Bill hell and he was patient with me while I helped square everything away.

Like many others, I too feel that finding a mechanic you can trust seems like a bit of an oxymoro,but after visiting Bill at Fair Auto I can honestly say he's one of the best in the business. I brought my car in to have him diagnose a check engine light. When I received the news that I needed a new fuel pump, I braced myself because I knew I was about to be gouged (trust me, I've been price gouged many a time). He delivered an exceptionally reasonable price and even cleaned my fuel injectors for free. He's a stand up, honest guy. I would recommend him to any of my friends and family without hesitation. Real Honest Auto Repair Shop!!!
I'm from our of town (Colorado) and my fan blower went out on my heating and air conditioning of my town and country mini van. So I went to yelp and found Fair Auto with very many 5 star ratings. I gave then a shot. I showed up on January 2nd, (day after a holiday) and told them my issues. Bill stopped what he was doing, ran a few tests, and gave me a possible rough estimate ($350 to 400 ) plus $33 for an oil change. I ended up agreeing to it. I was thankful for Bill fitting me in his busy schedule on such short notice. After a few hours went by I stopped by the shop see if there was any progress. They were 5 minutes from completing the job. Impressive. Furthermore, Bill explained to me that he didn't need to replace the more expensive part, just the cheaper one.
Bill didn't have to do this as I had agreed to the higher estimate. It's always a pleasure finding honesty and high integrity in a business. If you need a mechanic, you found a good one here.
By the way, final bill was $119... And that included the oil change. That's extremely fair. Too fair maybe: )

My car broke again and I live in Riverside and got it towed all the way to Bill. He told me it would only be $180 when he received it and it would be done the next day since it would only take an hour. Well, the piece wouldn't come out due to rust and it ended up taking him and a helper to get it out and it took 8 hours and a looooot of work! He only charged me for 1 hour since he had already told me that. What an honest, great guy to trust your car with! I won't take my car anywhere else now and I definitely recommend him!!!!

I don't even know where to start! I was just bringing my car in for an oil change and let them know my tire sensor had been going off for a while, "no problem, we can take a look at it" minutes later they told me they found a nail in the rear tire that was causing the problem and fixed it! After Les Schwab said they just thought my tire sensor was broken! Then I was talking to Bill, the owner, about how bummed I was that I had to buy a new keyless remote (what the dealership told me) because mine had died. He popped it open and replaced the battery! Good as new! I can't thank them enough for their quick friendly service, no pushy sales, they give you what you need for a fair price. I will be a lifelong customer!

I found this place on Yelp, and saw tons of good reviews. The owner Bill is the only one that answers the phone, is a straight shooter and totally nice guy! He let me see everything he was going to do to my car and let me actually have input. He also tried to make it as minimally financially crippling as possible. They were done WAY before expected and were super nice. Bill even chatted up with me about roller skating tips and football.

Fair pricing. While I love getting amazing cheap prices and deals, sometimes paying for GOOD service deserves spending a few more dollars.
Got my IAC changed here and my gf's brake pads replaced here.
I usually fix my car for a lot cheaper, but I've gotten tired of mechanics that don't listen to your thoughts about (your own car, geez) and I'm willing to pay a couple more bucks for Bill to help me out.
Bill and Cyndy are great people and you can really trust them.
Print out a coupon from their website and go here if you need dependable service, just don't expect a steal either.
For what it's worth, they're worth a 5 stars. They are fair.

I gotta agree with Mike M. on must needs being physician, dentist and mechanic. I'd add barber but that's another story....
My car did not pass smog due to an "OBD fault code". Not knowing a good mechanic in this area I contacted the dealer who wanted $110.00 for diagnostics before he would even address the emissions problem. I found Fair Auto on Yelp and checked out there web site and decided to give them a try. Once I took my car to Fair Auto they not only fixed it without an initial diagnostics charge, they gave a final diagnostics check to be sure it would pass smog without charge.
It's hard to find a mechanic you can trust, but, this seems to be the guy.
Now if I can just find a decent barber, life would be good...

It's not very often you find a ma and pa spot that really cares about there customers. Before you take your car to Pep boys and Jiffy lube where there going to f with you and try and upsell you on everything. Try this place first they are good honest people and won't feed you bullshit the owner Bill is a straight shooter if I ever seen one. He will tell you how it is no sugar coating here but that's how I want my mechanic straight forward no bull shit and no maybe this and maybe that. i had to fix my check engine light with diagnostic code of p1121 for my 2007 toyota prius. I took it here to have it fixed. Bill after checking the service bulletin for the part that needed replacement told me that the car part is on a extended warranty for 8 years or 160000 miles. Sure enough when I took my car to the toyota dealership the part was replaced for free. You can't buy this kind of honesty. I will be taking my car to him any other fixes in the future just because I know I can trust him. Thank you.

I'm either the voice of reason here or crazy, but I give Fair Auto 2 stars (started three, but when Yelp said 2 is "Meh, I've experienced better", I have). I ask questions and, as a consumer, and I feel like I should get reasonable answers. I inquired about the cost of some of the parts and discovered that mark-ups range from 30% to 100% with no sensible rationale - it's hard to say what overhead rates should be, but around 10-40%, maybe more depending. But, 100%??????? Whoa, Nellie! It's not even so much the rate used but the arbitrary application that destroys my confidence - typically though, it's a single value applied across the board based on overhead cost recovery requirements, plus profit.
Additionally, I thought the hours seemed somewhat high, but when I asked about the "standard hours" used to charge me and whether I could see them in the book, I was told I couldn't see them. (Keep in mind, the work was already done because the extent of the repair wasn't known until the car was apart).
To be "fair", I was given a $50 "discount", whatever that means. And, an offer for a free oil change. Although, I have a sneaking suspicion that the value of the extra hours and overheads far exceed that of the "discount" and oil change. Along the lines of fairness, the owner IS very friendly, accommodating, and definitely works with you. He appears to care about the work he's doing and I think does a good, quality job. The downgraded stars are because of cost/price integrity; something very important to me. I think the price was, well, un-fair. I get the paying a few bucks more for good service idea, but what's a few?

These guys are straight up, fair, and know their stuff. Had them replace a timing belt. Cost was reasonable and work was done on time. As others have said, they don't try to sell you other things you don't want or need. Finding a mechanic you can trust can be a challenge. I went there in the morning shortly after they opened, expecting to drop off my car, and pick it up later that day or the next day.
They got to work on it almost immediately, and I was out of there in less than an hour, and didn't need to get a ride from a friend.
The gentleman who helped me I believe was the co owner, and he was very polite, and informative. The owners wife whom I spoke to the previous date was equally polite and helpful.
The prices were fair, the service is excellent. I will be going there again in the future!
Finding good businesses like this is what makes yelp the valuable tool it is!

My Isuzu Rodeo was slow to start requiring multiple cranks to get the engine to turn over. For 3 months i visited dealers trying to identify the problem. The mechanics had no idea what the root cause was but suggested replacing parts till it again worked. That was not a solution which I could afford to agree too.
Fair Auto quickly identified the single component that was failing and replaced it at a very reasonable price.
There is not much more I can say. Bill was was fair and zeroed right in on the cause. Explained the situation, so it made sense. One day turn around.

Should have reviewed this place sooner. Not a great experience.
Read great things about this place. So I decided to bring my Lexus LS400 in for an oil change and to find out the cause of the engine coolant leak. Bill and his worker did a great job with the oil change and even showed me where the leak was occuring at. Told me they'll have to replace a rubber ring??, which they said is cheap but will cost $200 in labor because it's not easy to access. So of course I said sure, go ahead and fix it.
30 min later I get a call back and they said they thought they could get to it pretty easily but ran into a few things that would take them longer to reach where the leak is. Now quoted me ~$600. Wow! $600! I'm a college student so there was no way I can afford that at this time. So I told Bill I can't afford that. I'll just pick up my car.
Get to the shop to pick up the car. And Bill is charging me $70 on top of the oil change. He said it's for the labor because I told him he can start on the coolant leak fix. But I told him thats when he quoted me $200. But he didn't care! So, I paid him or else I wouldn't get my keys. Didn't sound Fair.
Went elsewhere, that specializes in japanese import cars. Got the leak fixed, water pump (replaced), and timing belts (replaced), all for $400. It was time for those replacements.
One more thing to add that pissed me off even more, Bill gives out your information to other people. Because I got a card from some massage/spa place in the mail who got my address from Bill's place.

Great service. Friendly, professional and clearly trustworthy. Although this was my first visit and just a service, I was very impressed with the expertise Bill exhibits when talking about different cars and solutions to their respective problems. He pointed out that I needed tires and got quotes on 3 different makes without being asked.

I have found a common theme with mechanics. Their prices seem to go up and quality of service go down after they have gained your loyalty. All was good until I took my car in and got charged what seemed to be a quite high price. My A/C was working fine when I brought it in but didn't work after. When brought to Bills attention he swore it wasn't working when I brought it in. The last straw was when I picked up my car when he said it was fixed. I dove it home and it started having the same problem. Obviously he didn't test it to running temp and didn't fix the problem but he sure had no problem taking my hard earned money. One time he called and said I needed to replace a bad part that regulates oxygen. I later found that the part was never bad. It was just an electrical connection. I'm done! Now driving a car that runs bad and stalls but I won't go back and deal with him till he gets it right and charges me more money. I'm going back to BC Auto knowing they will fix it right the first time. Bill never will admit he's wrong he'll just charge more money.

I went to the dealer for a coupon oil change. They told me the car needed high pressure PS hose. Interesting that Bill could not find a leak. They said the PS fluid needed to be exchanged. Funny Bill said look the color is very normal. All told Bill not only did what he said he would for the price agreed but also saved me a great deal of money on stuff really not currently needed. So I sent my son there for an oil change and my wife and daughter also will get their repairs done there as well as the maintenance needed. I recommend Fair Auto based upon today's experiences both with the local dealer who is still ok for certain things but due to our economic position we also need to do what we can to save expenses.

First off let me start out by saying my last experience with an auto repair shop was horrible!!! My car was never fixed right and i paid way too much money!!! So I found Fair Auto on Yelp and I am very happy I did!! Bill was the kind of person I like dealing with. Hes very honest and gets the job done!! They diagnose your car right the first time!!! I would say maybe a little on the expensive side but id rather pay a little more and have my car fixed right!! Other shops might not charge as much but your car will be back in the shop in no time!!! I am very particular about who gets under the hood of my car. I like to have the peace of mind that my car is in good hands and it wont die on me in the middle of my commute.
My baby - 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse - was acting up with the engine light coming on again and again. After researching online and taking the advice of my fellow yelpers I decided to give Fair auto a try. I was not disappointed. Bill is a great guy. My daughter's '99 Ford Ranger has nearly 180K miles on it and needed a front suspension overhaul. There was an intermittent, annoying clunking sound (that era of Ranger is notorious for the mystery clunk that is hard to solve) and the brakes pulsed heavily when applied. I took it to Fair Auto at my daughter's request (I checked here on Yelp too) while she was out of the country. The truck was done when Bill said it would be done, but as I was driving home (late on a Friday afternoon) the same clunk started up again! I called Bill and he was surprised and said "Bring it back on Monday and we'll fix it." I was busy most of Monday and couldn't bring it in, but I happened to be in the area so I stopped in with the intention of setting up a new time to leave it, but Bill asked if I had a few minutes, and I said, "Sure." He had Sergio (his mechanic--nice guy) drive it first. Sergio came back and agreed the clunk was as bad as I'd said. They immediately put it up on the lift and started checking and wrenching. In a few minutes, they brought it down and Sergio took it for another test drive, and that was it, clunk gone. My daughter (who has since returned) said it's the smoothest she's ever felt it. So thanks to Bill and Sergio! Daughter's happy, I'm happy! Bill stands by his work and his reputation. It's hard to find that anymore especially in auto repair.

I recently moved to the area and was very skeptical about bringing my car to a new mechanic. But after bringing my car to Fair Auto all my fears were alleviated.
I use Fair Auto for general maintenance and any emergency. You can drop your car off anytime and they will give you an estimate before they do any work. And after you've had you car serviced there they send you friendly reminders when it's time to get service again. Fair Auto truly understands what it takes to make customers happy.
The prices are extremely fair, on my first visit Bill quoted a price nearly $200 less than what I had gotten at other shops.

I LOVE MY MECHANIC I LOVE FAIR AUTO. BILL is the best mechanic to take your car to no matter what you need done. i found FAIR AUTO by accident. his number at the shop is one number different than the number at the rental office where i live. that was real luck. i have like the oldest truck in huntinton beach, it was barely running years ago, with the standard toyota oil leak ,everywhere. bill took my truck and totally fixed it , including the oil leak, and got it running better than it had in years, even pep boys years ago said get rid of that truck, i mean, i brought it there, it sat in the parking lot for days, when i would drive by my truck was still out side i went by, finally, to get it cause i kept seeing it outside of pep boys. they hadnt even fixed it.... they simply said, get rid of that truck, they thought it was beyond fixing, but i think they did get me an estimate, it was like 5000 dollars, and said get rid of it..... THEN I FOUND BILL AT FAIR AUTO, EVERYTHING CHANGED. yeah, now the truck is 23 years old, running like a champ!!!!!!! thanks bill! its debi with the red toyota 4x4.

The owner and his wife were awesome. The other person waiting was also a lot of fun. So they gave me an oil change and an inspection. The oil change was about $15 less then my mechanic and they didn't charge me for the inspection. Great customer service. The only slight problem which wasn't a big deal was that it took over an hour to change my oil which I thought was excessive. They did provide spectacular conversation though and offered beverages.

I learned about Fair Auto from yelp, I was having problems with my car starting and wanted an alternative to the dealership. I took it in and there was something very simple wrong, they fixed it in 5 minutes at no charge. I have returned with my wife's car for repairs and their service is the best and pricing is fair. I have been to many Auto Shops and this one is dependable, honest and has best prices. I had received an estimate from another shop that I needed radiator hoses and engine steam cleaned to find where a leak is. I brought it to this shop, did not need radiator hoses, it was a minor oil leak, needed oil pan. Bill is very helpful and got me in right away. They are trustworthy and friendly. I am so thankful to find such a superior Auto Shop that I can rely on if anything goes wrong with my car. I no longer have to be concerned with being taken advantage of by unnecessary repairs. Back in the summer, my little red Honda's temperature gauge was going berserk-o. I immediately took it to a nearby mechanic, and he instructed me to add coolant to my engine everyday before I started my car. That didn't solve much, so, I took it somewhere else. They say that my sparks plugs has die, so I got that fixed. Then my check engine light keep on popping back up and my needle keep on going up and down. After going to five different mechanics, I finally settled here at Auto Fair. I was quite scared calling Bill, but he was really nice and told me to leave my car to him, so he can check. He called me back in a jiffy, and told me that I had a blown head-gasket, messed up spark-plugs, and an almost dying timing belt. He offered to fixed everything with an affordable deal, which is pretty much awesome for a poor college student like me. I came back after a week or so, and was very pleased with the results. He practically fixed my car as if it was it new ish. Now, I'm driving everyday without worrying about my car exploding, adding coolant, or anything like that. I'm happy to come back here if I have any major problems in the future. He a good mechanic and get straight forward to the problem. big PLUS! (:

"Fair" is an understatement. They should be named Best Auto or Integrity Auto or best of all Honest Auto. I had been taking my 1990 Toyota Corolla to Expertec Auto for more than 5 years. When I took my car there in April, for an oil change they recommended "an oil leak diagnosis because of an oil leak coming from behind the timing cover, battery service, tire rotation, water pump leaking, engine is oil soaked, clean & adjust rear brakes, front breaks are low" ( about $1600 worth of recommended repairs). Indeed after they changed my oil, I found that my car was now leaking something on my driveway. The last few times that my husband or I took our cars to Expertec, we left feeling uneasy........couldn't say exactly why.....we'd been very happy with their service in the past, but something just felt wrong. I found Fair Auto on Yelp and because of all of the 5 star reviews, decided to give them a try. I told Fair Auto that I thought my water pump was leaking. Bill called me about 2 hours later telling me that he had pressure tested the pump and that it had passed the test, but because I said that I had something leaking from my car they would continue diagnosing it. A couple of hours later he called to tell me that what they found was "an upper radiator hose clamp loose".....which was repaired for $60 !! They also checked and filled all my fluids, never mentioning an oil soaked engine. I couldn't recommend Fair Auto more. Bravo and Thank you

I have been getting service by Bill for the past couple years and he has helped me tremendously. I have been so afraid of getting work done on my car but Bill assured me that he will do everything he can, to make sure everything was fine. Thanks Bill I'll be back!!

Honest and fair. Good and speedy workmanship. This is a well named auto mechanic business. I've brought my car here twice now - once because my car was having an A/C problem and second because there was problem with a short in a blower motor. Both times it was fixed in the time stated - for the $$ quoted. It's nice to find a mechanic that doesn't take advantage of a single woman.

My dad used to do all my oil changes/minor mechanical things, but now that I live 2500 miles away I was forced to find an actual mechanic. It is really difficult to find a good, trustworthy one and I am SO glad I found Fair Auto through Yelp. Bill and Cindy are soooo friendly, their prices are decent and most importantly, I can trust them with my car. I will never take my car anywhere else.

Thanks to you yelpers, I went to Fair Auto after debating on if I should take my Ford Sportstrac to the HB dealership, with whom I've had somewhat questionable experiences with and also seem to wrack up the bills after taking my truck there. For you women (and men) who don't know a lot about cars, I recommend this place for not getting ripped off and getting good service. I told Bill (who I think is the owner) my concerns and he opened up the hood, inspected some of the fluids for me that Ford in HB was telling me I needed to flush and have serviced, and he showed me that everything was in good condition (just like my dad was trying to tell me, also, I just needed some confirmation since Ford had been pressing me for months to get the major service on my truck which they charge about $$$ for). He did only the basic minimum oil change, changed my wipers which had been working poorly and changed my air filter and charged a very reasonable rate. He wasn't trying to use scare tactics to get me to pay for more than I needed. I'm definitely returning for future maintenance and hope I can continue to go there to keep my truck running well for a long time!

It's always tough putting your faith in an auto shop to not screw you over. After yelping auto repair and discovering Fair Auto, I took my chances. Needless to say, 5 STARS is a well deserved rating for Fair Auto. I took my wife's car in for a 90k mile inspection and received a competitive quote (of which I was charged). I also had them investigate a "funny noise" coming from the right front area of the car. After hours of troubleshooting, they charged me nothing because they couldn't find what was causing the noise (the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars). Leaving an auto shop and getting charged nothing for their work - pretty sure that doesn't happen very often. I'm disappointed they couldn't find what was wrong, however, I respect their honesty for telling me so and not charging me for unnecessary repairs. I was going to take my truck in for some routine work as well but moved from HB. Otherwise, I would have been a life-long customer! I'm confident they would have found what was wrong with the car but I moved. Great service!!
