After reading the one review on yelp, and many good reviews elsewhere for Little Car Care, I decided to try it out, given that my 2004 Jetta was having some major issues due to some (major) neglect. I called up, and was able to get an appointment 2 days away.
Not being too familiar with Lawrence, I will be honest and say that it isn't exactly the safest looking street, more like an alley that is only partially paved. The shop itself also was definitely was definitely just that: a few garage bays and nothing more. I started to second guess all the awesome reviews I read at that point, but went ahead anyways.
I dropped the car off at 8:30 AM, and by 9, already had a phone call with what was wrong with the car. He gave me a rough estimate, I agreed, and he went to work, while I looked up cost estimates of the repairs he was doing to see if I was getting screwed. To my surprise, the estimate was significantly lower than estimates I had found online! Even better, I got a phone call that afternoon saying everything was taken care of, and was ready for pick up. When I stopped in, I was shown the old parts, and specifically what was wrong with each part. Overall, I felt like he was very upfront with me, and all the charges were fair.
What made me the happiest was picking up my car and it driving like a brand new car. I've had some work done before on this car, but it has NEVER driven this good! These guys really know their way around VWs! My only problem is that I can't bring my other car here because it's not a VW!

This place USED to be good. My issue is that they keep track of nothing. God forbid you take your car in to get fixed and ask for a break down of exactly what they did... unless the exact mechanic who worked on your car is there, you won't get an answer. You'll fork over money and have no idea what was even done. They don't keep records at all. The place was sold to a new owner a couple years ago and customer service is non existent at this point. I'll literally never go back and told my sister to stop going as well.

This is an awesome little car shop, indeed. One of those hidden gems. Highly recommended.
They specialize in VW, and I took my daughter's '02 Passat there based on a recommendation of another shop that I frequented for 10+ years, Broadway Tire in Lawrence.
The expertise in this shop is incredible, multiplied by honesty and professionalism. They repaired an intermittent brake system problem diagnosed at Commonwealth based on engine check codes and estimated at hundreds of $$, for a whole lot less, because the problem ended up being a crack in a plastic valve.
It is pretty rare these days that a young car mechanic possesses a natural feel for understanding and debugging cars, and this is exactly the case here.

This is a VW specialist mechanic shop. If you have a VW and need anything more serious than an oil change, this is the best place to go. I drove 2 different VWs over the 8 years or so I took my cars here and I can't recommend Little Car Care enough. I tried other mechanics that were closer to my house or seemed like they might be cheaper, but I always ended up back here because it other places just didn't know what the heck they were doing when it came to my car.
If you own a VW, you know the parts are always way more expensive than on other cars. They tend to last longer, but it still sucks when you have to shell out that kind of cash. Little Car Care didn't try to get me to spend money when I didn't need to, but they also wouldn't cut corners on needed repairs. When my 98 VW needed a new computer chip about 3 months after I bought it (used car with no warranty), a brand new chip from VW was going to be about $2,000. I couldn't afford it, so they searched until they found me a chip from a used car that only cost me $500. The few times my cars broke down, I had them towed to this place, even after I moved 40 minutes away. They really care about taking care of your car the right way, not just about making money off your misfortune. You should be able to trust the people who work on something as important as your car, and I definitely wouldn't have trusted my VWs to anyone else.
