Amazing experience. I was super bummed out when I came home from work to find my newly acquired, never in an accident, 2004 BMW M3 side swiped...with no note or anything. I was really worried about taking it anywhere that would do less than 100% BMW factory quality work. After bringing it to these guys, I can tell you that as of now (1.5 weeks later), the workmanship seems to be better than factory. Bruce and Chris really took care of me. They fixed another unrelated dent and even helped me out with my deductible! When I picked up the car, it looked better than new. I am a car fanatic and have paid over $200 on several occasions to get my cars detailed and I will tell you this is the best detail I've ever received. I will say that when I drove away, I noticed that several lights had come on on my dash and the side view mirror motor was not working properly. Well, they took care of that too. They reset the lights and ordered/fixed the mirror free of charge. I did get the feeling that they see A LOT of cars, but you could not tell seeing as the quality of workmanship is top notch.
Obviously, nobody wants to be in an accident and it sucks no matter what. However, these guys will make the best out of your crappy situation.

Precision auto works has exceeded all my expectations. I was rear ended in April and new to the Queens area so I was in need of an auto body shop. So happy that I found these guys! From the moment I sent them my initial email to the moment I picked my car up they were on point. They kept me updated thought the process with phone calls, emails, and photos. They were exceptionally busy, but they made me feel as if I was the only customer that they were working with. They also dealt with the insurance company who did not pay enough for the services. Hopefully I never need body work done again but if I do I know I will be taking my car back to precision.

Excellent customer service. I was here for engine oil change. Even though I did not have an appointment and they were pretty busy, it only took about 20 min. They were courteous and well mannered. I would definitely come back here for any auto works to be done.

Very disappointed.
They are nice people and I think they are for the most part honorable, so two stars for that. Still I just had a terrible experience:
I asked if they could install replacement parts (in my possession) for a defective remote starter, while I was leaving the car for an annual inspection. They agreed. When I went to pick up the car, they said they could not find the remote starter inside the car's wiring, and I needed to bring it back again so they'd have more time. Ok. But on the way home I discovered that they had internally disconnected a sophisticated dash cam. Sloppy!
I brought the car back as requested. They said they had to "rip apart" the car, which made me uneasy for the three days it took them to get to the job (Friday to Monday).
The repaired remote starter still did not work, but I assume it was the manufacturer's fault. Still they charged me $500 for five hours' work, which I paid because they should be paid for their time, even thought it seemed like a lot of time, but I trust their integrity in that respect.
Now get this:
I came back mid-afternoon to pay. They had left the car parked on the street, apparently for several days, through a Monday snowstorm and heavy rain on Tuesday. In a sketchy, industrial neighborhood. The guy first told me to go find it myself, then relented and walked me outside to show me where it was. Not thrilled with all that.
I decided to return that evening to drive home. I get in the car and one of the headlights does not work! And, I had a warning light flashing about another headlight issue which I won't bother you with here. And, I had asked them to fill the tires which they did not do, so because the car was out in the cold, I drove home with one headlight out and two "low tire pressure" warnings displayed. Unsafe. Upset. Wouldn't you be?
How basic is it to make sure that everything that worked BEFORE a project begins, still works AFTER a project is completed? They should be EMBARRASSED to TWICE hand the car back to me with things they had "broken."
Frustrated, I left a long voice mail when I got home about all of the above, and nobody bothered to call back. Now I have to pay someone else to fix the the headlight they butchered.
So Val, since you messed up my car and couldn't be bothered to call me back and make it right, maybe this review will get your attention.
UPDATES:
(1) The day after I posted this review, I received apologetic voice mails. But by then, I'd already taken the car elsewhere to repair the headlight issues so I wouldn't be ticketed for driving with a non-functioning light.
(2) Remote starter manufacturer insisted this should NOT have been a $500, 5-hour fix; more like a third of that, and that it didn't make sense that the replacement parts would not work. They offered to send more free replacement parts just in case, and suggested visiting another installer. What a mistake it was trusting Precision with this project.

I went to their branch on 46th Road between Vernon Blv and 11th Street several times for various repairs on my old Jeep Wrangler. They have always given me an accurate estimate and great service. I was recently in a minor accident and brought my Jeep it to their shop for repairs. When I got my it back it was running better than it had it 10+ years. The alignment and steering are like new. To put it simply, I wouldn't bring my car anywhere else.
I own a 12 year old Mini (which I love) and needless to say, things are starting to need repair. I was referred to Precision by a Black Car repair shop who couldn't fit me in for a simple repair. So I brought my car to Precision a few years ago and haven't ever considered another repair shop since. All of the stats on my car are maintained by Precision and they even called me to tell me my inspection was due. Something easily overlooked when you don't use a car daily. Now that is excellent customer service. Another example of their professionalism occurred when they recently replaced a clutch. Precision called me a few days later to make sure everything was running smoothly.
If you are considering a new car repair shop go to Precision. Great location - one stop on 7 train from Grand Central. Perfect location for Manhattanites. Tell them Art with the green Mini sent you.

Absolutely fantastic service! I brought my car there based on online reviews and they were 100% correct.
A minor scrape from a hit&run needed repair. Bruce saw the estimate the insurance company gave and advised they had way under-quote as they were trying to cut corners. From there he dealt with everything, including getting the insurance company to agree to his recommended way of properly repairing & painting the car, and I didn't have to do a thing! Bruce sent me regular updates of repair timelines & photos, and they even fixed an unrelated door ding free of charge! Car looks fantastic. Best service I've received in NYC hands down.

I've never had an experience like this with anything having to do with a car; buying, selling, repair. My car was the definition of a wreck when I brought it in and pristine when I retrieved it.
Bruce saved the day. He took complete control when I brought the car in. From dealing with the insurance company, to the adjuster, to even arranging to get me a rental car.
Never once in the almost 3 weeks it took to fix the car (it was in terrible shape) did I have to call in to get an update. Bruce would send me regular updates along with pictures of what stage the car was in.
I couldn't recommend this place highly enough. I hope I never have to go back there again for the same reason I did this time, but lord knows if I had to I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Undeniably the best service we have received, ever.
Extraordinary craft, skill and cleanliness. They went over and beyond our expectations. The staff is incredibly gracious. They emailed us an estimate the same day, which turned out to be very competitive when we did some estimate shopping. They gave me a ride to the train station to get back to the city when I dropped off the car for repair. They emailed us daily updates with images on the work progress. Met the deadline. Cleaned the exterior and interior of the car and even covered up minor scuffs that were not included in the repair scope. I really don't write reviews that often, but I know that this place deserves it. From the minute I called them, they were responsive, friendly, helpful, and professional. Here is a list of only a few items they did for me:
-They helped me through the insurance process, giving me the right phone numbers and making a very complex process straightforward and east
-They got me a muffin and a coffee from a place down the street. Yeah, I know what you're thinking, every auto place has coffee. NO! This was not an in stock item, it was hand delivered with a buttered corn muffin and a smile.
-They set up the rental car for me, which could have been a pain in the butt. I've done this stuff before, but they called and made sure I was to be picked up by Enterprise when I was ready.
-They sent me progress pictures throughout the process, with descriptions of the work they were doing. They didn't have to do that, but it made me feel like things were really happening over there, which they were.
-They finished in less time than they expected. I don't even care if they were conservative about their estimate, it was just nice to get my car back in time!
-They CLEANED THE CAR LIKE IT WAS BRAND NEW. It smelled and looked literally better than when I first bought it. They were cautious and courteous.
-They were friendly when I called and asked stupid questions, and they stayed open for me because I showed up just as they were closing.
-I left the rental car at Precision and they dealt with returning it, which I didn't have to pay a penny for.
OVERALL, thank you Bruce and the team. It was a pleasant and professional experience, and my new-feeling car is ready to go yet again!

I found Precision last year when I was working in a commercial space near their 9th Street location. Since then I have been back 4 times for various maintenance and mechanical issues. They are fair, honest, and competent--they give you the whole picture and don't try to jack up charges or sell you stuff you don't need.
They recently opened a 2nd location on 46th Rd. pretty near the Vernon/Jackson stop on the 7 train which is convenient for me when I need to leave my car. I have mostly dealt with Val and Michael there, both very polite and professional.

I usually do not leave reviews for businesses but there are always exceptions when you find such a gem. The best experience I have ever had with any auto body shop. Bruce and George from Precision has been very communicative throughout the whole process. He supplied updates regularly, along with pictures from the day the car was left at the shop until the day I picked it up. When I got to the shop the car was restored back to perfect factory condition. You could not even tell the vehicle was involved in an accident. These guys are the best and the real deal! Precision did a wonderful job repairing my vehicle. Although I only needed a small amount of body work done I chose Precision because of all the great reviews. They assisted me every step of the way and dealt with the insurance company for me so the process was as seamless as could be. Within 3 days of the insurance company approving the repairs I had my side mirror replaced and my rear quarter panel fixed and painted. They really went the extra mile to make sure that I had my car before the weekend. Overall this was a fantastic experience and I will definitely be coming back for any future body work.

Amazing service. From the moment we pulled our car into the garage for an initial estimate to delivery, it was impeccable service. We inquired at another garage in NYC that never even bothered to follow-up with us to provide an estimate. Precision is clean and you can tell they care about their work. George, the owner, and Bruce, the service writer were great. We got e-mail updates and pictures of our car (a Porsche) throughout the process, every day. I have known the Owners (MIke & George) for the majority of my life and have been bringing them my vehicles to work on whenever I need something done. They not only are as precise as their name signifies but they are also perpetually improving themselves. They recently became the first Easdt Coast shop to be certified by Tesla in all aspects of maintenance and repair. I went to this place for a car inspection due to its high rating on Yelp. My car did not have the "maintenance required" signal on, it was just due for its annual car inspection.
Staff was really nice and helpful and the inspection only took 30min even though there was a customer before me also doing an inspection! I was really impressed. Waiting area was nice a and spacious as well, but nothing fancy which is totally fine.

I don't throw the word TRUST around lightly. I also have lived in the big city long enough to know that my cynicism is a great defense. BUT, when my `04 Mini Cooper died, and I needed Precision, they were there for me. They were honest, communicated well, and were smart enough to tell me when to cut my losses. With that honesty, they won a customer for life. (well, as long as I can afford to live in NYC)

LOVE this place. Nothing special about the location or the building. in fact, your first impression may be this is just another auto repair shop. But the people working there are REALLY NICE. "Nice" almost sounds condescending here. They are decent, good people, and conscientious. And they work on cars.
I suppose I can recount in detail how pleasant each encounter was, or how they repeatedly agreed to check the car and finally figured out what the mysterious problem was with my car (the battery was bad and it was not the problem the car had been brought in for. But they fixed it anyway.)
But decency rules at this shop. And they are nice, to their customers and to each other.

No Yelp reviews??? What?? This place has top notch google+ reviews so check them out if you want some confirmation of their awesomeness other than my own.
We have a 2002 Ford Focus wagon. The engine light turned on. We knew something was up, since the car had been making noises and acting unusual. Oil was fine, coolant fluid was fine... we took it to one place and they said it was the transmission, but because they didn't do transmission stuff we had to take it somewhere else. I frantically searched on google and yelp for another place nearby (we needed to car done before the following weekend) and found Precision Auto Work's great reviews on google. There we went, on a Saturday. Unfortunately it was closed for the weekend, but a mechanic was working on a car and one of the owners was there. He came out, introduced himself (super friendly!) and looked at the car and asked us about it, and then gave us a card and told us to call Monday morning.
I thought it was awesome that he came out on a Saturday morning and actually took the time to talk with us, and he was really friendly, so we definitely called them and they worked on our car and it was done on time. The problem was the shift solenoids, which had to be replaced, which meant removing the transmission. Cheap parts, but a lot of work. Still, the price was much lower than I was expecting. Car worked great. They also called us a couple of months later to ask if it was still running okay! Superb service! They are definitely our go-to car problem place now.

Super fast turnaround from the most reliable shop ive ever found. These guys have the most bankable name in auto if you ask me. After my car got vandalized (Sat on by the worlds biggest guy?). I brought it to precision who worked through the paperwork and insurance with great customer service. Honest and forthcomming too. Eric walked me through a lot of the stuff i wasnt sure about. These guys are the only shop i use if i can help it. Dont forget to park on side street by entrance!

I am so thankful that we found precision. They are absolutely as good as it gets in terms of service, quality work and communication. I have a 2009 mini which was hit by another driver while parking. Precision was fantastic when dealing with the other persons insurance, and helping to inform me of the rights that I had when dealing with the insurance companies.
They are very trustworthy guys (and girls) and have very fair billing. Also they are all very easy to work with. I will be going to them for all future maintenance.

I do not usually write reviews, but these guys really went above and beyond and I can not recommend them highly enough. Bruce, Eric and the whole Precision crew were the ultimate professionals: skillful, courteous, friendly and helpful. I brought my car to them to have the passenger door replaced after someone had hit my parked car (they were an authorized body shop for my car). First and foremost, they did a beautiful job on the body work. They returned the car to me in "as good as new" condition: filled in a small nick in my windshield, completed my annual inspection to boot, and detailed the entire thing (not an easy feat considering I have two young kids and a dog who love the beach). They sent me pictures of my car as the work was being done, kept me abreast of the expected completion time and stuck to the timeline and quote originally given to me. In addition, I had been having problems sorting out payments, etc. from Allstate (who is not my insurance company but that of the driver that hit my car --- from this experience, I will most likely never be a client of theirs) and Bruce was kind enough to help me sort all that out. He called the company for me numerous times and eventually worked with the adjuster to get my case straightened out. I really can not say enough wonderful things about these guys.

In two words......Exceeding expectations !!!!
This is the ONLY Auto Mechanic/Body Work place that I have done business with and as a matter of fact I KNOW of that has been consistently exceeding expectations.
Most people's experience (and mine till I meet these guys), with auto mechanics, body work places is poor service at a higher than expected price......
At Precision Auto Works, my experience has been the exact opposite the last 6-7 years that I know them.....
A few days ago, I took my 2009 Acura MDX because the side step that I have installed hit the sidewalk as I was going backwards and bent my front passenger side fender.....
Long story short, even though I know they could have hit me with straighten this, replace that, paint the other with a grand total of more than a $1,000, ....., my car looks perfect and the only charged me a couple of hours of labor.

I highly recommend the folks at Precision Auto. I had a terrific experience with them recently when my car flooded after a bad storm earlier this summer.
I have a 2007 Mini Cooper with only 21,000 miles. Last month I took my car to the Mini of Manhattan dealership after a particularly wild rainstorm left 3 inches of water pooling in the floor of the driver's side. After driving all the way across town to 55th street and 11th Ave, I met with a Mini service advisor. He told me that in order to determine the source of the water and the extent of the damage, it was going to cost $640 plus $60 tax just to examine the vehicle because it is no longer under warranty. This came as a shock to me because I was used to getting top of the line service from Checkered Flag Mini in Virginia while under warranty. Panicked, I asked him what the worst-case scenario was, and he said that if the computer was damaged, it could cost up to $10,000!
I left Mini of Manhattan despairing until I made a few calls to independent repair shops and found the folks at Precision Auto in Long Island City. They offered to take a look for free. Within five minutes the professionals at Precision Auto confirmed what they suspected had caused the water to pool - a clogged drain channel on the driver's side of the sunroof. They flushed it out and then spent two more hours making sure that the vehicle was sealed from future leaks. They confirmed that my computer was fine, and they even gave me a tour of the garage as they worked. At the end of the day, I was charged for one hour of labor, and the entire experience cost me $90, a far cry from $700 that the dealership was charging just to look at the vehicle.
Choosing a car is often based on an emotional reaction as well as a practical one, and owning a car can be an extension of that emotional experience as well as the beginning of a relationship between the owner and brand. I love my car. She's my baby. I give her regular checkups. I make sure her fluids are in order, and I bathe her regularly. If I could wipe her down with a diaper, I would. At no point did anyone at anytime from Mini advise me to get the sunroof drain channels inspected once every year or two. Moreover, given how quickly the independent repairmen at Precision Auto guessed what the problem was, I suspect this is a common issue. The customer service I had so enjoyed while it was under warranty was nowhere to be seen when I really needed it.
I was the epitome of a loyal Mini customer, happy to tell admiring pedestrians all the time about how pleased I was with the brand -- that is until I discovered that Mini of Manhattan was so eager to take me for a ride. Now I tell my friends who admire my little Cooper that Mini service is only as good as the life of the warranty.
The only positive thing that came from this experience was the fact that I found a trustworthy garage in Precision Auto of Long Island that I will continue to use in the future.

My friend recommended Precision Auto and said that I could trust them with my car. I spoke to Abe about my car over heating. He listened to what was happening with my car, said bring it in and he'll check it out. Same day the car was checked out and ready, he was able to address and fix the issue quickly. He also asked to keep the car an extra day just to be 100% sure the car would no longer over heat. He was great all around, would definitely trust him with my car. Price was very good too. Great experience.

These guys were great! My car got broken into and a few windows were broken.
I went to 3 places before I found Precision. The other places were terrible - didn't take credit card, didn't take insurance. Who has $500 in cash on hand on a Sunday afternoon? NOT the kind of people I felt like dealing with.
When I finally found Precision, the guys were SO friendly. Three people helped me throughout my experience there. The woman at the desk got right on the phone with my insurance company, another guy jumped up and offered to move my car so it wouldn't get ticketed, and a third guy had me start filling out forms so they could get reimbursed by the insurance company.
They fixed my windows in less than a day, and also gave me an oil change!
They asked me to write a review, so that's what I'm doing. I think everyone who touches cars for a living is a little bit sketchy, and when I find a mechanic I like, I'll hang on to them...for a while. I'll definitely be going back to Precision!!!

Absolutely perfect experience at precision. Needed oil change and new brakes. Inspection revealed leaking front struts so they had to be replaced. Val took his time and explained the situation in great detail. Prices were very reasonable and customer service was outstanding. They even rotated and balanced my tires at no charge. Truly go out of their way to take care of you and your car which is not always easy to find in NYC. Highly recommended!

These guys are great. My battery died on a Saturday morning and after a jump, I needed a new battery. I didn't have a mechanic in the city, so while sitting in my car while it charged back up, I started googling. I found Precision and called them because their website said they were open on Saturdays. Abe said come on in and they'll take me right away. After a quick drive over the 59th Bridge, I found the place easily enough. Abe took all my info and told me it would probably be about an hour. He directed me to the coffee shop across the street in case I wanted to get something to eat. I went to the coffee shop and about 20 minutes later, I got a call so they could confirm the price and details before starting any work. I approved it and about an hour later, the car was done, rate was reasonable and I was a happy camper. Going into it, I was expecting a 3+ hour wait and wouldn't have been surprised if they couldn't take me at all. I now have a new mechanic in NYC.

Precision auto works has exceeded all my expectations. I was rear ended in April and new to the Queens area so I was in need of an auto body shop. So happy that I found these guys! From the moment I sent them my initial email to the moment I picked my car up they were on point. They kept me updated thought the process with phone calls, emails, and photos. They were exceptionally busy, but they made me feel as if I was the only customer that they were working with. They also dealt with the insurance company who did not pay enough for the services. Hopefully I never need body work done again but if I do I know I will be taking my car back to precision.

Owner of a 2004 TL; This place is amazing! Handled my claim very very smoothly! Fought with my insurance company to have the work that was not just needed, but that would look best! Customer service was excellent. Sent me emails of the progress of my car. They really went the extra mile with the work they did! They blended the paint perfectly and left my car looking brand new! They even went as far as detailing the car! I seriously felt as if i was treated and hooked up as if i was family. You should not go any where else! Amazing experience. I was super bummed out when I came home from work to find my newly acquired, never in an accident, 2004 BMW M3 side swiped...with no note or anything. I was really worried about taking it anywhere that would do less than 100% BMW factory quality work. After bringing it to these guys, I can tell you that as of now (1.5 weeks later), the workmanship seems to be better than factory. Bruce and Chris really took care of me. They fixed another unrelated dent and even helped me out with my deductible! When I picked up the car, it looked better than new. I am a car fanatic and have paid over $200 on several occasions to get my cars detailed and I will tell you this is the best detail I've ever received. I will say that when I drove away, I noticed that several lights had come on on my dash and the side view mirror motor was not working properly. Well, they took care of that too. They reset the lights and ordered/fixed the mirror free of charge. I did get the feeling that they see A LOT of cars, but you could not tell seeing as the quality of workmanship is top notch. Obviously, nobody wants to be in an accident and it sucks no matter what. However, these guys will make the best out of your crappy situation.
