Ken at Kelly's Automotive is beyond amazing! Always fixes my jeep with no problems for super reasonable prices. My jeep died on the road and I wasn't able to find someone to help so I ended up calling Ken. He came down, got my car started, dropped me off at work, and took my truck to the shop to fix! Great, trustworthy people!!

I was referred to Kelly's after being told by another respectable auto shop in town that they wouldn't work on foreign cars. When the tow truck dropped off my car I spoke with Kelly and he was attentive to my problems. Although they were backed up, Kelly continued to keep in touch with me through out the week. I was worried about more than than what I originally wanted to get repaired, but I knew I had been putting off other issues too long. I explained to Kelly I was a college student and would be graduating soon, I just wanted my car to make it to graduation and a few interviews. Kelly understood and helped me get my car off life support and back on the road at a fair price. This is an honest business and would recommend them to others.

VERY happy with Kelly's Automotive!
My husband and I drove to the Bloomington, IL area to look at and purchase a used vehicle at Sam Leman. Since it's used, we like to have a reputable and independent mechanic look at the car. Using Yelp, we were able to quickly find Kelly's. I contacted them a head of time to make an appointment and to make sure they do this sort of thing. They apparently do it quite often and even list it as a service!
Unfortunately, the weather was quite frightful on our way to Sam Leman. We left an 1:15 early even to make the drive but were often stopped for long periods of time due to slide offs and accidents. When able to move, we could barely go 40mph. Needless to say, we were late getting the car to Kelly's for the inspection.
The inspection is 90 minutes on average but we didn't get there til 11am. Kelly's allows their mechanics an hour lunch at 12pm. Since I had to make a flight out of O'Hare, we didn't have time to wait. I was panicking and asked Kelly's just to get what they could get done in the hour we had, maybe starting with the most important things.
My husband and I returned form lunch at 12pm to find the mechanics at Kelly's working feverishly on our new (used) car! About 12:30pm, they gave us a clean bill of health for the new car. We thanked them so much for working through lunch on the car and offered to pay 50% more for the service but they politely declined. Very admirable.
They did a great job, communicated really well with us and really made us & our issue(s) feel like a priority to them. We're completely satisfied!

Took my boyfriend's car to Kelly's a bit ago. They said the car was dangerous to drive on because of the rusted suspension and would cost over $1000. They then charged us $45 for looking at it.
We then went to Heritage Welding to check up on this "rusted suspension" and the people there said that there was no rusting whatsoever and that Kelly's Automotive was attempting to rip us off.
I would suggest R&R on West Washington instead (Heritage also suggested this) because they are honest and not trying to get you out of your money.
I recommend not going to Kelly's in the future.

Took my PT Cruiser here when I was having problems with it starting. The staff was very nice and friendly and patiently explained things to me. Fixed the problem and charged me a very reasonable price for their services.
I'm still pretty new in town and didn't have a ride home. Kelly himself gave me a ride home so I didn't have to walk in the snow.
I'll be taking my car there for all my future car problems.

We recently took my husband's Cadillac CTS to Kelly's for service and they saved us thousands of dollars. They diagnosed that our engine issues were caused by parts that were recently recalled by Cadillac, and suggested we tow it to the dealership instead since recalled parts can typically be replaced at no cost. Once our car arrived at the dealership, they discovered we needed a total engine replacement - the recalled parts had damaged our engine that badly! The dealership covered an entire engine replacement - we are still in shock. Not only did Kelly's alert us of the recall, but Kelly himself offered to speak with the dealership on our behalf to be sure we were taken care of. Kelly's could have made plenty of money off of this fix, but instead recommended what was best for our car, and best for us. I will always go to Kelly's for honest, affordable, and expert service.

When I needed a car repair, a friend recommended Kelly's to me 10 years ago. I've never taken my car anywhere else since then.
Kelly's Automotive a great repair shop in Bloomington that specializes in import cars (they work on everything, but I have a Saab and they know all about them). Kelly is there and always has a kind word, is pretty good about remembering customer names and cars, and it is obvious from the moment he starts talking that he knows a LOT about vehicles.
My favorite thing about taking my car to Kelly's is that I never feel like Kelly or Ken are trying to sell me something I don't need. Over the years they have suggested repairs that are necessary, told me to hold off on things that didn't need to happen yet, and always give good advice.
If don't know anything about cars like me, and/or want to do business with a locally-owned auto repair shop that you can genuinely trust.

They are an extremely competent and nice crew. They tell you the god's honest truth and tend not to talk down to you. I suspected that they were when they told me they couldn't turn my brake rotors, but when I inspected my own brakes, I realized that I just hadn't paid enough attention to the OEM brakes on my car.
These folks are fast and reliable. The prices are a touch on the "more expensive" side for certain jobs, but I found that they use premium parts and that their knowledge and competence is worth the cost. I just wish they were a little less expensive. They do good work, take care of you and try to accommodate odd requests (like needing to not work on the car because you need it for work and letting you bring it back later on).
I highly suggest them, Rick and Kelly are both nice guys who'll do all in their power to take good care of you.

Problems with normal maint items

Went in to replace timing belt as part of regular maint. Had to take vehicle back to correct squealing when starting up the vehicle. They said they had put the wrong belt on the first time. Also in entering data into their computer, they incorrectly added 50k to the mileage and said they couldn't correct it.

Great Service

I take my car to Kelly's all the time and they all do great service on my Mercedes. I've taken it there for everything and they always get it done quick and for a good price.

I had a mixed experience there. Took my Volvo with an oil leak. They quoted a lower price for the leak and PCV issue fix than what a standard repair would cost with parts and labor. I was concerned and was willing to dish out extra $$$ to have the issue fixed for good and I told them as well. My suspicion was correct, in a little over a year the PCV issue came back with a vengeance and caused major oil leaks requiring me to spend $$$$ in repair. They also left the turbo control disconnected, I also had a power steering major leak driving out of the shop. They are probably a decent place for taking your european car for minor issues, but they are not 100% accurate in fixing complex issues.

I was passing through town and had a problem I thought was very serious, but turned out to be low power steering fluid. Kelly's definitely could have screwed me if they wanted to, but they were very professional and explained that the problem was minor. I drove away with my car fixed for $16. Will come back for all future issues with my vehicle.

Good place to take your car in for service. I took our Camry and had battery replaced, cables replaced and other minor repairs taken care of. They didn't overcharge us for anything and replaced a light bulb in the tail light for no extra charge. No problems whatsoever. Give them a try.

I have written a review about ANOTHER Car shop - who were planning to charge me close to $100 for a minor fix, for which these gentlemen - did everything for $35 out the door.... they are great, and I am for sure a return customer for them. They have a competitive pricing model and do give you honest suggestions about your car.
