Beware... I inherited a truck ...

Beware... I inherited a truck just over two months after the prior owner was charged too much for work that wasn't right and caused even more problems. I am not just a guy complaining but I am truly wanting to warn you. Scott (mechanic and owner) told me he would not honor any warranty right before Frances (not sure the relation but must be part owner) told me they would. They charged almost of double of RETAIL for parts and for many more hours than they should have to do the work. I have the receipt the old owner gave me and have talked to numerous other shops prior to writing this. The upper and lower ball joint were replaced as well as the left outer tie rod. I brought it back in after I had been told the uppers already had play in them. Of course, that was 'not seen' by Scott. When he originally went in after the ball joints he disrupted the axle seal and didn't even properly secure the axle dust covers causing even more damage. It is hard for me to believe that Scott didn't see that when it left his shop but I can not prove that part unfortunately. The other parts of the steering were slapped back together without even telling the prior owner of potential steering issues, etc. This truck has a bad drivers side shock, shot inner & outer tie rods as well as the sway bar links all making a ton of noise in the front end. The vehicle was let go and put back on the road with all of those problems that could not have happened in the past two months. I am not sure if this was brought up to the prior owner but I assume it wasn't because it wasn't documented on the Invoice. Please keep in mind the truck was picked up and paid for on 2/7/12 and I just left the shop today, 4/11/12, to be told that I was out of luck as far as any help on the truck. You be the judge... they charged $1,268.92. Parts were +/- $250 at most... $1,000 in labor and 'fluff'?!?! They took the old owner for more than a retail dealer would charge!!! The Invoice shows $563.09 in parts alone and $536.25 in labor. Scott even charged labor to put on the tie rod which had to be removed to work on the Ball joints. I like to refer to that as double dipping. I gave them a chance to make this right prior to writing this. Again, I am just trying to save you potential money and stress. I am having to eat this repair and have a reputable shop repair what they did.
