The owner here is a down right good dude!
Old school, honest and good as the "good old boys" get!
Gave great service, timely, friendly and low market price.
Discounts given for cash sales.
Will definitely return!

Being new to Sacramento I was worried about finding a new good and trustworthy mechanic. I am so glad I gave this place a shot (based on other yelp reviews). The owner was extremely nice, as was his grandson. They
were able to look at my car and fix it within an hour and a half. When I asked what I owed I was extremely pleased with the price. I will continue to go here as long as I am in sac.

Fantastic and quick service. We first went to pep boys to get my son's car fixed and after it sat for over 48! Hours without anyone touching it, we found warren's on yelp. Not only did he do the full repair in about 4 hours, the cost was over $200 less than it would have been at Pep Boys. Really fantastic, we will not do a chain store again!

Took my VW bug here to get the brakes repaired. Larry the owner was super friendly and helpful. He did what he said he was going to do at a reasonable cost. He replaced the brake pads and rotors. Dropped off 730am and picked my bug up by noon. I highly recommend taking your vehicle here he's been in business for a long time and is very experienced. No problems!

Great place to get your smog check done. I only had my lunch hour to get my smog completed before my registration was due. These guys where very friendly, helpful and quick. While I was waiting I notice how helpful and knowledgeable they where with another customer who was there for repairs. Easy location from my downtown office. I was in and out in less then an 30 min. Can't say enough how good my service was. I would definitely go back.

Great customer service. We were in a pinch and had to get our rear brakes done on a Saturday. I called before the shop opened, and Larry picked up the phone. He was able to squeeze me in and told me he'd have it done by closing (2pm). He finished the job by lunch and gave me and discount for paying cash. I'm definitely going back when the front brakes need to be replaced. It's great to have a place like this in town.

If you need brake or suspension work, come to Larry. He's honest, fair, and does good work. He installed my lowering springs on my evo, and told be to come back in 5,000 miles for a complimentary alignment once they had settled.
I had Larry do my brakes too, and I was just as pleased.

Larry rocks!! Called him on a Thursday hoping he could fit me in the next day cuz I was leaving for Tahoe on Saturday. He already had appointments that day but fit me in, had my car already done by noon, and he had to change my drums!
Congrats on your recent nuptials Larry!!

Second time we went to Warrens. Very nice guy and no complaints. Did a complete brake job but did not replace rotors just resurfaced.
Price was very very competitive.
Plus he seems like a genuine and honest person.
Will be back.

Larry is awesome and truly knows what hes doings. There's a reason he has so many positive reviews. He lowered my ct200h lexus effortly, and threw on some wheels for me. He did a great job and his price was exceptional. I will definitely be taking all of my vehicles to his location for alignments, brakes, and suspension modifications. thanks again!

Highly recommend this shop. My dad was a mechanic, as was I when I was younger.
I know when I'm being BSd or over charged. That never happens here.
Larry operates with the highest integrity and honesty. I will continue to use his shop and recommend to others.

If you decide to use Warren Brake and Suspension after reading these reviews, please consider checking to make sure you walk into the right door:
There are two automotive businesses adjacent to each other in this little pocket on 20th and T. The big bright sign that says "Warren Brakes" clearly is between the two, making things a bit confusing. Warren's is below and to the right of the sign, Smog Diagnostics is to the immediate right. Smog Diagnostics, which also does automotive repairs, may gladly, in my experience, try to steal your business from Warren's if you are as clueless and unsuspecting as I was.
I came to Warren's for a brake check (based on his Yelp reviews), and walked into the wrong office. It wasn't until after I signed the estimate form (and luckily before any work was done) that i realized my mistake. From the ensuing words of defense from Cesar (of Smog Diagnostics) who signed me in to Larry Warren of Warren's Brakes, it seemed as if this 'problem' happens a lot. "But he didn't have an appointment" Cesar whined to Warren, which i guess means it is OK to hijack a customer who, although they wanted to go to Warren's, actually had not made an appointment to do so.
Anyway, Larry Warren squeezed me in even without an appointment, and did the needed brake work. Apparently he's been there over thirty years, and apparently just does brakes, suspensions and alignment--so with the good yelp reviews and limited offerings, i really get the impression that he knows what he is doing and does it well. The day I was there he had a steady stream of clients with beautiful vintage and/or high end cars, my guess is that is normal.

Dude, Larry is the bomb.
We were on our way on a very bumpy road to get some tacos when some shit snapped on homie's car.
We were both upset by the development. Homie, because his car sounded like hell, and myself, because I wanted some tacos.
Since you know that when there's a problem, Johnna S. is gonna solve it, I directed homie to this shop. I am one of those weird people that likes reading automotive service reviews during my hour waits for breakfast. This is how I always know where to go, because I cannot stand dishonesty.
I had this shop bookmarked and homie just listened to me for once and we went here to get that clanking to stop.
Larry did not fuck around at all, and he even let my nosy ass look around his shop. This is shit that I enjoy. Looking at machines, equipment, etc., and wondering what they do is certainly my cup of tea.
So we had no sooner had told him our problem, ON A SATURDAY 30 MINUTES BEFORE CLOSING, and homie's ride was already jacked up, diagnosed within a few minutes and he provided us with a quote. Larry stopped what he was working on, and basically saved our Saturday when he could have easily booted us out for being there at the last minute.
Larry looks a little young to have been doing this for 45 years (damn) but his manner in fixing that shit was nothing short of impressive. The man is skilled, and he reminded me of Johnny Cash.
For 25 dollars, Larry saved the brakes, saved our Saturday, and taught me a little something. Don't hesitate to get your brakes fixed here. I highly recommend Larry as he is a powerhouse.
Other helpful information:
-If you use the fridge, you need to kick it to close it.
-Always tighten those bolts very well when you do your own maintenance on your brakes. Make an order-of-operations checklist.
-Forget all of that and bring your ride to Larry.
-Bring cash. Running cards is grip for small businesses, so be a doll.
Easy 5 stars.

I've brought my car here three more times since my first review. I've had Larry install new aftermarket shocks and struts on all four wheels four wheels, had two wheel alignments and had new brakes (rotors, pads, brake fluid refresh and bleed) installed as well. I will not be taking my car to anyone else for anything brake, suspension or alignment related ever again. He is that good. Larry is a good dude. He is fair, will explain everything to you, and will
let you know if you need something done now or if it can wait a bit. In other words, he is not out to take your money, just give you great service at a reasonable price.
Give him your business!

Larry provides 'old school' customer service you can rely on. It's just who he is. You'll get an honest, reliable diagnosis with an equally honest, cost effective solution. Just today, he test drove my car, throughly inspected my brakes and suggested I come back in 8-10,000 miles. There was no charge. I will be back too! No one but Larry is touching the brakes or suspension on my old Benz. Wish I could give MORE than 5 stars.

I had my regular maintenance at Toyota only to find out I needed back brakes. I went on Yelp to read all reviews and came across Warren Brakes. I called to find out how much it would be after calling other businesses.
Larry is so nice and very fair. He told me if I came in by 2:00 he would have my car done by 4:00. He did indeed have my car done in the two hour time frame he told me.
I offered to pay cash instead of credit and he knocked $20.00 off my bill.
I will go back when my front brakes need to be done. If you are looking for good work that is reasonably priced, look no further. The reviews speak for themselves. It is worth the drive to midtown.
Many people are looking for the cheapest price. Well with that you get the cheapest brake pad that squeaks more after your brakes are done than before. Pay a little more and get the good stuff. There are some things you can fudge on, this is not one of them.
Thanks Larry for getting me in and out quickly.
:-)

My truck wasn't feeling as good as she used to due to the fact that she needed new struts. The last guy who installed struts and shocks on my truck really messed up and forgot to put the bushings in the right spot. Larry fixed this problem when he installed a new pair of Bilstein 5100s on my Tacoma. Now my Truck rides great! Also his Alignment job was perfect! For any future suspension mod or brake jobs I will definitely be coming here. Larry is down to earth and knows exactly what he is doing!

My daughter is in SacTown and I'm 6 hours away so when she needed brakes I was really hoping I could find an honest and trust worthy mechanic in Sacramento!! I'm so grateful for Warren Brake & Suspension! After explaining our situation to the Owner he totally could relate because he also has a daughter that lives away from home! Quick and honest. Before I went in, I called Larry. I told him that my car had less than 30k miles on it but that the brakes were squeaking. He said that he'll take a look at it and, if it was nothing, he'll let me know at no charge but that if it was something, he'll be able to repair it within 1-2 hours.
I went in for new brakes. At less than 30k miles, Larry wasn't sure whether they needed replacing and asked me to wait around for 15 minutes so that he can take a look and that if there wasn't a problem, I could just go home at no charge.
When he drove my car to the garage, he became concerned. "You hear that noise?" he said to me "that's not squealing, that's grinding" but after he took a look, he let me know that the grinding was due to friction against the sensors and that the brake had not yet worn down to the rotor but did need to be replaced.
He replaced my brakes for approx $225 out-the door. He also took a look at my brake light (it wasn't working) and recommended that I take my car to the dealer since I had a wiring problem and not a fuse or bulb problem.
Overall: Trustworthy, straight-forward service. I would definitely recommend him to a friend.

We took our Volvo S60 there for a basic alignment - it took all day to get the car done, and when we picked it up the owner explained how difficult it is to align Volvo's and that we would probably still notice it pulling. We did. Worse than before.
We immediately took it to Linville Brothers (on the recommendation of a friend) where they did it right. It was very frustrating to pay for the work to be done twice.

I called him up and he said a suspension inspection is complimentary with no appointment necessary. He also said he charges $55 for diagnosis of a specific problem (30 mins). That's pretty awesome.
However when I showed up he was pretty unexcited to see me and at first suggested that he could not help me even though I had called the day before and he told me I wouldn't need an appointment. I'm pretty sure I caught him at a bad moment, but he still ended up doing the inspection.
Advice: for service here, show up earlier on in the day and he'll appreciate it.

This is THE place for brakes. Don't go anywhere else!
Larry is a rareity is the automotive world, honest. I brought my car here after taking it Quality Lube and Tune Up on Florin Rd., who informed me I had cracks in my rotors. Larry informed me that someone had purposely scratched up my rotors and pushed back my brakes to the point that they were almost touching the floor. He took pictures and told me how to go about dealing with Quality Lube and Tune Up's screwjob. He even fixed everything that Quality had messed up for a very reasonable price. I will never go anywhere else for brakes and neither should you. Get an estimate from anywhere else in town and you'll find his prices are the best too. Support the small local shops who have been around forever! I'm a customer for life!

Brought my Ranger in today for an alignment, and to have tires installed. It's to the point now where I buy my tires from shops as carry out and let Larry at Warren Brake install because he's the only guy I trust these days. Example, bought tires at a MAJOR retailer, and Larry had to rebalance them for me because they shook the car when I drove away. Old school, hard working , fair. Doesn't milk you, knows his stuff and backs up his work no problems. I won't go to anyone else.

Larrry is reasonable and dependable. He does the job right. He's fair with his customers. My only complaint: I wish he could do everything, but he sticks to his specialty, brake and suspension ,and no one got him beat him on that!!! He's good with all the older car models. That's why my 1970's muscle car "BAE BEE" only see's him for brake and suspension.

Larry the owner of Warren Brakes and Suspension is a people person and is very honest. I had taken my cars to G12 for years and years before they closed down. Larry had worked there for a LONG time, so when it was time for brakes, I went to the SAME location on 16th Street. He doesnt gouge, and tells you exactly what is needed. I even stopped in before a long trip to LA 6 mos ago and didnt have the money to put new brakes on the front, so he pulled my wheels and inspected and told me I would be ok on a long trip and that I should really get new pads/rotors as soon as I have the money.

Larry did a great job replacing the trailing arm bushings on my car. I felt like he was very honest and straightforward, and he showed me the broken bushings (nothing like car problems to make a non-mechanically-inclined girl feel incompetent, but even I could see that they were indeed broken). Plus it was somewhat less painful to spend money on the repair, which was expensive even though Larry gave me a good deal, because the money was going to a small local shop. Larry's a straight-shooter and the kind of independent shop that's becoming endangered. He'll always quote a fair price (and stick to it!), use high-quality parts, and do the job right the first time. If you live or work near downtown, there is no better place to go for brake or suspension work.

I had Larry install brakes on my truck for the first time the other day. My family has farmed in this area for 3 generations. I know how work should be done having raised cannery tomatoes on a large scale having many tractors and farm equiptment. Larry does work right. He is a one man operation, and he keeps his word. He has been doing this for over 20 years and the buisiness has been there for 30. He is the real McCoy doing what he said he would do, in it for the long run, not a quick pop to make a buck. He is in my words one of the best!

As other reviewers have mentioned, Larry (owner) does excellent work, is timely, and is an honest guy (doesn't try to sell you a bunch of work you don't need). He is a sole proprietor, and honestly, I don't know how he just rolls out the work as he is the only one working there. . I decided to give them a tryout of convenience and not go to my usual place that would retest for free if failed. This particular time the car was pulled into the shop the technician came in the office to ask if I had an EO Sticker for the air intake on the car. I said that I did not know what he was taking about. Apparently the state passed a law in 2009 where I needed to get an exemption sticker. He asked the manager in charge if he should pull the car out, but he said to run the test anyways. I tried to stop him saying if it failed visual to don't run the test or charge me. He claimed that it was already in the system and had to finish. Funny thing is that he didn't he ask the technician if it was. The car wasn't even hooked up to the machine and was only just pulled in. he then went out and hooked it all up and went through the test. No Customer Care here. This place will run every test they can to just charge a smog fee. A customer can in just after this to pick up her car and it failed to a wrong gas cap. The guy claimed it was lose and she had to get one from Mercedes. She then said why Mercedes since it was a BMW. Duh!!!! Plus he said they couldn't test it since she didn't leave the key. Well that's why it's loose then. When locked the cap is loose so you can't take it off and when unlocked it tightens and you can then screw it off. Man, save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else. I am also calling BAR.

The Over Simplified Summary: Took my 2008 Jetta in for a smog; it failed due to the dipstick missing a seal. Cesar called and ordered the part and they got it installed; passed my Smog. The Good: Cesar communicated well about the part's delivery time, kept me updated about what was needed to pass the smog test, and when my car was going to be done. He got the part to the shop before noon and my car was finished before 3. (I work a few blocks away and didn't need it through out the day, so this timeline worked well for me.) The Bad: #1 - I was there at 7:25a, 5 minutes before they open, just to make sure I would be able to drop it off before work. Greg was the first one into the shop and arrived at around 7:45a. He took my paperwork and told me that he didn't have access to the computer to input my information; not a big deal, but a little irked that the shop opened later than posted time. #2 - Cesar let me know over the phone that the replacement dipstick would be $20; at checkout the price of the dipstick was $30. #3 (the bad one) - Jack was the tech that cashed me out. He was playing on his phone when I came in (no big deal), but he stopped in the middle of going over my paperwork with me to play a hand in his game, waited, and then resumed cashing me out. That was the big irk factor for me and I am not easily upset. Overall: Car passed smog; yay! Customer service was less than stellar, borderline bad. More than likely will not go back there. As always, YMMV.
