After having a really terrible experience at another shop in Olympia, I decided to try Ben's Automotive based on reviews and because they're a Napa AutoCare Center. I cannot express how happy I am to have found Ben's. They were super nice, fast, and fixed my car within 4 hours. Plus the shop is clean and welcoming. Highly recommended.

The most honest and professional auto repair shop I have ever seen. They have maintained the vehicles of my family and friends for years and have demonstrated consistent, reliable, reasonable, fair, and professional service. They repair only what needs to be repaired, bill reasonably and only for the work performed, and stand by their work. Examples: There are many examples of me and my family and friends having repairs done at Bens and being pleased with the results and the cost. But the best examples of the honesty and fairness of Ben's Automotive are when things don't go as planned. I had noticed an unfamiliar noise from my 1998 Toyota Four Runner engine, and thought it might be the alternator. Ted (owner of Ben's Automotive) listened to engine, and concurred that the noise might be bearing wear in the alternator. I asked him to change it out, and it was done. It turned out the noise was originating in the water pump and not the alternator, and he changed that out and resolved the problem. When I picked up the car he had billed me only for the water pump part and labor. I asked him why he wasn't billing me for the alternator, which I had asked him to replace, and he told me that it didn't need to be replaced and so he would not charge for the part and labor of doing so. I told him that wasn't fair to him and offered to at least pay for the part. He declined. I took my Four Runner in several times thinking that the brake pads needed to be replaced. Both times he pulled the wheels and checked them out and told me that they were still serviceable. Finally, when I was in for something else, he told me it was time to change them out, which we did. Ben's did a pre-purchase inspection of a high milage VW Golf diesel for my daughter and son and law, and shortly after they purchased it a full engine rebuild was required. Ben's did the work without charge to my daughter. Ted would not accept any payment for the work, even tough we offered to pay for the labor, and then at least for the parts. He said he stands by his work, and that he would not accept any payment for the work or parts. Yesterday an older Toyota owned by friends was taken into the shop because the brake light was on. Ted checked it out, and found that even though the brake fluid was within normal limits, it was not completely full, and the 20 year old detection system was falsely reporting a problem. He topped off the reservoir and the light went out. He as also asked to change the oil during the visit, and the only charge was for the oil change. You can trust your vehicle to him. He will look it over and recommend what it needs, and then make the necessary repairs correctly, promptly, and for a fair price. I recommend Ben's Automotive without reservation.

I have depended on Ted at Ben's Automotive for over 16 years for my car repairs, from rebuilds, brake repairs to all parts replacements - Always the best price and high standard reliable service from educated, skilled, experienced seasoned veteran automotive technicians.
