Jeff and the rest of the staff at Fairway are just awesome. I had to have some work done at another local shop, and while they did the job, they came back to me with another repair recommendation in the $300 range. I called Jeff to see if they did this same work, as I'd rather he handled it if it needed to be done. I was able to get it in to him on the next business day for a second opinion, where he was able to definitively tell me that the "need" was bogus, and there was nothing wrong with the part. Not only did he save me the extra money, but he reaffirmed with me why we always take our vehicles to him, and recommend him whenever we have the chance. Just a totally honest, high caliber guy that will always take care of you.

With regard to the Henderson complaint below......
This vehicle was towed to us on 12/28/12 because it would not start. As is our procedure, we checked the oil and closed the hood. We attempted to start it in order to experience the "no-start" condition. Upon doing so, the truck's engine backfired. We stopped further effort and pulled the truck into our shop for further diagnosis. Upon opening the hood, we found that the upper intake manifold, which is plastic, had been been shattered by the backfire. Our root cause analysis of this led us to find that the #6 and #8 plug wires were reversed. Clearly someone did this before it arrived at our shop. We also saw corrosion on the distributor and, as the Mr. Henderson notes in his complaint, recommended an intake and distributor cap/rotor replacement. Once this was done the engine started, but had a ticking noise. We did some very basic investigation to isolate the source of the noise, finding that it was from the passenger set of cylinders. To make a long story short, Mr. Henderson, his warranty insurance company and I had several conversations over the course of time indicated by Mr. Henderson. I don't dispute the length of time the vehicle was here.
Once we finally had approval to tear down the cylinder head, we found the small screw fragment n the rear-most cylinder on the passenger side. This was most likely from the intake manifold being shattered. There is no other logical way for anything to have found its way into the cylinder. Even at that, it is a huge long-shot for anything to find its way into a cylinder. The item needed to be removed to prevent serious ongoing damage.
To Mr. Henderson's complaint about "fixing it right the first time", we fixed the initial issues diagnosed right the first time. There was no way to predict that the manifold shattering would lead to a screw fragment in the cylinder. I can understand his frustration...we have never seen anything like this occur, either.
There was also no information shared with us that someone else had previously worked on the engine to get it to run. This was the true root cause of the extra time and expense of the repair. Had the plug wires not been switched, the repair would have been limited to replacing the distributor cap and rotor...Approximately $125 including sales tax.
As to the overall time frame of the repairs, my lead technician (who was working on the truck) had a significant amount of absenteeism during this period. We have dealt with that situation. Are we pleased that it took this long? Not in the least. Between his absence, the issues related to dealing with the insurance company and the difficulty reaching Mr. Henderson due to his work schedule, it all added up to a very long process.
Sadly, nobody involved in this repair is satisfied and that includes us
As for the total cost of the repair, it was a fair-market price for replacing a head gasket, intake manifold and distributor cap and rotor. I would recommend having the Henderson's seek out pricing to verify that. The warranty insurance company had no issue with our fee. Of the $1,149 bill the warranty company paid $910. The warranty does not cover taxes and diagnostic time.
In summary, it was a difficult situation with several extenuating circumstances. I have personally learned from it and have made procedural changes, as a result. In addition, an employ was disciplined for his role in the incident. We wish the Henderson's the best of luck in the future and would welcome them back as customers.

I almost got into a accidaent, and in the process, damaged my oil pan. It was towed there with no prior appointment made, they had me up and running in less than 3 days, which I think is pretty good with having to order parts. They got it done within $25 of the price they originally quoted me. I will definitely be back....

I had my 96 Chevy truck towed here due to the truck not starting. I was told by Jeff and the mechanic Mark that the truck had backfired and busted the plastic intake plenum into pieces and the distributor cap and rotor may be the cause of the truck not starting. The quote originally was 300 dollars + tax and as of today Jan 18 2013 the vehicle is still in his care and has been in his care for 3 weeks now and I got a phone call on the 17th asking for another 150 to fix a noise that has occurred after they successfully started the truck. My truck has been there 3 weeks and no telling what has happened to it. It takes 30 min to an hour at best to change out distributor cap and rotor why 3 weeks? I am calling them today to tell them to put it back together and I will have it towed to dealer for further investigation. I tried to help a small business out but It appears I have been screwed. Be careful out there is all I can say because a partial tune-up and a piece of plastic should not cost 450 dollars.IMO! I am done with this place. Please be advised.

Had an issue with my Honda Accord which was diagnosed instantly and rectified. Had already spent 250$ with another mechanic who could not find the actual issue and some how convinced me to change few parts. Thanks to Fairway.

Jeff and crew have ALWAYS done a great job. I have taken multiple vehicles over multiple years to have them inspected for prospective customers and they are very forthcoming about what they find and what they expect for THEIR service customers. Its a very fine line sometimes and they ALWAYS handle the situation fairly and with respect for everybody involved. What more could you ask for than that?

Very thorough and honest. Sometimes it can be difficult to get an appointment right away, but that's probably a good sign though. I will definitely keep coming back here.

I was on strike 2 with other mechanics on diagnosing an issue. First look, and it was fixed and runs great at a reasonable price. I have a new car mechanic!

I went Fairway Auto care Center to repair Sway bar End ,Tie Rod End and replace Belts. He took from me $665, in which Labor charge is $332 and parts are $290. I gave my car drive condition. After he repaired, wheel alignment was not proper which is very weird.I couldn't drive even. I did my wheel alignment and spent $96.00.
I don't recommend to anyone because after you repair you can't drive and you need to fix different problem.
Note: They will create another new problem.

Great local repair shop. We just had our vehicle worked on. Dropped off, diagnosed, clearly estimated and fixed the same day. They seem to have very competitive prices too. Jeff made the process simple and easy. I will be back.
