I left feeling very confident in my vehicle and well informed!
After the "Check Engine" light appeared on my trailblazer, I had called several establishments. Barry's was referred to me by Ed's tires. A diagnostic costs $35, but is waived if the repairs exceed the $35 charge. There are shops that will charge a ridiculous amount for the diagnostic alone in addition to repairs and parts, etc. The mechanic, Chris, who worked on my vehicle also took the time to explain the code and it's function. Mine was an EVAP code that basically was triggered by running the engine while the gas cap was loose. Simple enough. Then he showed me how he ensured that everything was functioning correctly with the Emissions from the fuel by the stability of the pressure readings and the release process. I actually got to see for myself! This all took minutes. Then we address another issue that I had not originally come to shop, but figured that I'd have it looked at. Chris took his time to find out what was wrong with my horn (Which as quoted from other shops is a VERY EXPENSIVE repair). Chris discovered and fixed what was wrong with my horn all the while explaining what he was doing and why he was doing it and only charged me a small fraction of what it would have cost me at another shop.
For the most part, Chris was very knowledgeable of his Craft and yet humble, not to mention the Integrity I witnessed from him. He would look up or ask questions in resolution of something he was unsure of or just didn't know. It was refreshing to me because he never left me uninformed.
As a cherry on top of a well iced cake, he even fixed a very minor cosmetic issue at no cost to me. I will go back for my automotive needs and I would encourage others to check out Barry's Performance as well!

By far the worst mechanic shop I've been too. Stay far away from this shop. They will take your car and hold it and make excuses. After having my vehicle brought in they kept my car for 4 months and did nothing. Then everytime I called their excuse was they were working on it and would call me back and more time they spend on the phone talking is taking up time for them to work on the vehicle and figure it out. My thing is after the first day, few days, week, then month you should know something or the problem. So I got my vehicle back after four months nothing done to it. In that amount of time you could rebuild a engine or car. I'm doing you a favor folks don't waste your time or effort they should've even have a business, I'm highlyrics unsatisfied and should have been compensatedoing something for my lost of time. So that's why I wrote the review.

Barry's is awesome! I was referred here from another repair shop. My Jeep was running so rough that they thought it needed a tune up or, worse yet, a new carburetor. Since the mechanic was less than 100% sure he sent me to Barry's. Charles greeted me when I pulled up. He opened the hood and within minutes determined the air-to-fuel ratio was off and corrected it. Wow! This was the third auto shop I had been to for this problem. Thanks Charles and Barry for your expertise and fair prices!

I've been to Barry's Twice both times they helped me out beyond what I expected. The first problem was I had a bolt sheer off in my engine block I took my car to them to get it out, there were unable to get it out however with the amount of time and the cost of the drill bits they broke trying to get it out they charged me nothing. The second time I took the car there I was overseas and my wife was having break issues, I called them up explained the situation they quickly helped my wife out and the prices were great. I would recommend these guys to anyone.

Update: horrible! Least knowledgeable mechanic I've ever encountered! If you took a CAT scan of this guys head, it would show an image of 2 tiny wheelchairs crashing into each other. My first review was after a very brief, extremely simple task which is the only reason my car survived the encounter. He swapped the engine out completely because a cylinder was blown. It took him almost 3 weeks because stuff kept distracting him like a dog that sees a squirrel. Keep in mind, I'm paying for a rental the whole time since I only have the one car. Finally picked it up, and before I got home, it completely dies on the side of the road! Had it towed back to them, he tells me the alternator died. When I came to pick it up, he was trying to fit/wedge the new alternator in place with what looked like a damn crowbar. Awkward, but whatever. I drove it home and as I pulled into the driveway, the engine started smoking and coolant was gushing out. Um, wtf!?! So my girl and I took out the radiator and pressure tested it, holes poked all up in it! Guess that's why mechanics don't usually use crowbars on engines! So we replaced that our damn selves. After that, I never took it back to Charles or Barry's Performance, but the tragically incompetent work kept haunting me. First there was huge billows of white smoke spewing from the exhaust, no big deal. Then a battery cable that was shoddily connected came loose while driving and the car shut off. Then it just stopped starting all together. Turns out he let the master ground wire from the alternator just hang loose and it hit exposed metal and shorted the alternator again. Oh, and when we replaced the radiator, we realized that he had failed to put a single drop of oil in the new engine! This guy is worse at his job than the Dr who is supposed to perform a circumcision, but instead just punches his patient in the neck for 30 minutes. It's like he just opens the engine compartment and flails his arms around like an octopus that fell on an electric fence. He doesn't give receipts, and he doesn't accept responsibility for any mistakes. Nice guy though!

The best! That sum's it up. My SUV was acting up when I was up in Raleigh took it to a auto repair shop (it will remain unnamed) and they wanted $2500 to get fix it. Got the car back to Fayetteville and was told to visit Barry. After ordering the parts they got my car fixed in just a few hours and it only cost me $1,000.02 (we joke about the .02) The people were well informed, honest, and just great all around. Go see Barry and tell them I sent you.
