All the others wanted around $...

All the others wanted around $400 to change a (ONE) wheel bearing for my car. These guys not only destroyed the other prices ($250), they also got me in for the next morning during a busy week and I'll be rolling, noise free, by tomorrow afternoon. And I'm not local, even to the state! These guys should get a medal

Honesty and Patience!

I love dealing with Dave at the Karr Doctor. He is always patient when I call, or bring my car in. He listens to me explain everything that is going on with my car. He is honest and tells me nothing is wrong, or it is something small and inexpensive to fix, rather than blow up the bill as some mechanics try to do. THANKS!!!

Guys know there Stuff

If the expression "honest mechanic" sounds like an oxymoron, check out Karr Doctor on West King Street in St. Augustine. These guys are master mechanics who have saved me hundreds of dollars on jobs that a dealership would have willingly and dishonestly charged me for. I'm grateful for their integrity.

They diagnosed what was wrong with my car and had it fixed within just a few hours. The mechanics were very polite and honest about what needed to be done and I got a great price. Got an oil change at another place and my car broke down the next day. Because of my positive experience I got my car towed back here so I could trust the results.

I brought my car here today because I needed an AC charge and a new cooling fan and they seriously price gouged me! Looking deeper into it, they really tried to charge me double what the fan cost for the fan itself (charged $150 for an $88 fan) and then asked for an $126 service charge. I went somewhere else and they were much more open and honest about the prices of these things and what I would have ended up paying approximately $350 at Karr Doctor, I paid $200 for the same services elsewhere. On another note, I left my car there and waiting 1.5 anxious hours for a call back to tell me the estimate and finally I called them and apparently they all went out to lunch so the service was just very untimely. Ultimately I feel like they took advantage of me. I will say though that beyond practically doubling the prices for service and parts, they were kind and respectful in person.

This is a safe place to take your cars for service. Steve and the other mechanics are skilled & experienced. More important than this is their consistent integrity. I have taken my Rav 4 to a dealership for a factory recall and been presented with a laundry list of necessary repairs. Karr Dr. checks the car over and crosses almost everything off the list. Three of my family members and seven friends now have all of their car repairs taken care of by Karr Dr.

Truly One of the last honest car mechanics in existence in America today. He actually told me "the book says that should take 2 1/2 hours of labor, but I think it should only take two so that's what I'll charge you" can you believe it? I've got an old Lexus and repairs aren't cheap on those, so when I found this place I felt like I didn't have to worry about getting reamed. Which was a huge relief!
And, some lucky guy trusts them to work on his 1965 Shelby Cobra 427, and there was a Rolls Royce there too. From fancy to beater, Steve will take care of you.

One of the worst experiences I've ever had at a mechanic's. I went in with an old Volvo that smelled like it was leaking oil and asked for a free estimate; a couple hours later, I was handed a bill for $140 in labor, just to find the leak. (They wanted about $400 more to fix it; I later paid less than half that at another mechanic.)
These people lied to me, then turned downright nasty, yelling at me when I tried to calmly reason with them. I talked the bill down to $70, but only by threatening to call the cops.
I usually let annoying experiences slide, but I went so far as to contact the Better Business Bureau about these guys...stay away from this place.
