I used this place two years ago after a serious frontal accident 11K worth of damages. The process with my insurance company of getting my minivan towed to them, getting a rental there when my van was left to the exceptional workmanship and detail to attention given our family vehicle was incredible. They were one day over the estimate but it was to have my vehicle detailed for me. Mechanically everything was beautiful and the matching of paint from every angle and light was on point. This level of A++ service is not seem often. Now I have another small repair to the front corner of my van (same van) someone hit me making a illegal left hand turn and I am looking forward to taking my vehicle back to Pope's for the work. I know I will get back a vehicle with exceptional repair work done again.

Pope's Auto Body is a superior body shop. I have had vehicles there on three occasions, but let me mention my most recent experience. I was rear-ended while sitting at a stoplight a month ago. This was the only shop I trusted to do a great job and they didn't let me down yet again. Mr. Pope has been operating in Fairfax, VA for around 30 years. He knows the business and knows what it is like to have quality service. My car suffered $5300 damage and was not considered a total loss. When I came to pick up my fixed vehicle, it looked like new. Paint matched up, and everything looked brand spankin' new. They also completed it very quickly. From the Friday afternoon drop-off to it being available to pick-up was less than 10 days. Pope's is a great shop, and totally trustworthy of my business.

I knew that I could trust Pope's the moment I walked into the shop. Granted there is no perfect shop, almost everyone I interacted with starting from the front desk lady, shop workers, to Pope himself had a spirit of decency, honesty, and courtesy. Though they took a few days longer to fix the damage on my hit and run incident ($2500 worth of damage), Pope himself called me to provide status updates as promised and even finished a little quicker than his second estimated time frame. The work on my car looked great, and they even fixed up other dings and scratches on other parts of my car that weren't even part of the original accident. They also took the time to vacuum my car and wipe down my dashboard to make it all shiny and new. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience with Pope and would highly recommend to my friends and family. As a bonus, I asked Pope if I could purchase a bit of touch-up paint for the car, and he gave me a small bottle to take for free.

Easy to get my car in and the finished product was outstanding.
These folks really do care about doing a great job and you as a customer being happy. There was a problem with the wrong part being ordered and my car was in the shop longer than expected, but ... I was kept totally in the loop about the situation and Tim at the shop resolved the problem quickly.
Trust these folks, they do quality work and if I have the need, will use them again.

Once again Pope's Auto Body has done a superior job repairing my car to like new. I have visited Pope's three times with two vehicles since 2003. Each time the work completed made the car look like it was restored to its original state. With my most recent visit, I had been rear-ended by a much larger vehicle which did $5300 damage. I thought the car would never be the same. Pope's not only did a superior job to other auto body companies, but his staff completed all of the work in less than 10 days. Mr. Pope and his staff know the auto body world inside and out and I could not be happier with the work they did. I will continue to use Pope's as needed, though never hope to need an auto body shop, I'm glad one as good as Pope's Auto Body exists. Highly recommend if you are looking for a quality shop for handling your auto body needs.

Very happy for the referral.
Short story: I had a flat tire recently. With the flat fixed I needed to get a tire alignment. I found another shop with "4 stars" and decided it should be fine for just an alignment. But this other shop tells me that I have a thousand dollars of repairs needed and not fit to drive. So after discussing it with insurance company, they say I need to have it inspected and repaired elsewhere to file a claim. Pope's number was called. I explained to them my predicament and the scary, costly story from the other shop. They searched and searched and searched, using multiple mechanics to find this expensive problem highlighted by the other shop. Nothing was found.
So, Pope's earned an honesty award. They could've professed to finding something just as devious and profitable as the first shop. But instead chose to honestly not tamper with a working machine.
I'll try them again.

At first it seemed nice, we met Mr. Pope who seemed very friendly and who even gave us a life time warranty on his work for as long as we owned the car. They told me it would take a week because they had to order a new door. It wasnt actually until two weeks later they called to have me pick up my car.
When we picked up the car the door started having problems not more than 2 days off the lot. We took it back a few weeks later, to have it in the shop again for another 2 weeks!!!!! When we finally got it back it broke within a month. Forcing me to take it in again... I have since then had to take it in to the shop for repairs more than 5 times, with the car never fully being fixed.
The only reason I dont give them 1 star is at least the have honored there warranty so far. Though every time I go in they constantly give me more and more grief like some how there shity repairs is my fault. Is it so much to ask that they fix my car?
a message for Mr. Pope, FIX MY CAR AND YOU WOULDN'T HAVE TO SEE ME AGAIN!!!
If you have any wish to have your car done on time or actually fixed don't take it here.

Got in an accident and my dealer recommended Pope's Auto Body. Overall I am pleased with the work done but there were some disgruntlements between us.
Pros:
Thorough work performed and car looks great
Good communication about status of repairs
Lifetime warranty
Cons:
Left a mess in my car. A very unprofessional mess that they didn't even offer to clean or pay for a wash. Some solvent or liquid agent had residue streaks all over my passenger door, chair, and dash.
They took a lot longer than estimated; an entire week longer.

My 4 yr Acura TL's front end sustained nearly $9,000.00 dollars of damage in a parking lot accident in which the driver at fault had no insurance. Yuck!!! During the first 2 hours my insurance co was bothering me about where I wanted to take my car to get it fixed. I already had experiences with, in a major repair on another vehicle, Chantilly Auto Body (Aweful!!!) and in a bumper repair on the TL, Pohanka Collision, (subpar/ inexperienced techs) so I did some research and found Pope's to have at least an average rating overall and some experience with luxury cars. Luckliy this is where my insurance co wanted me to take it saving money considering I was running under the conditions of "Uninsured" coverage. BTW Acura's hold their value so they FIX them versus TOTAL them.
It took 3 weeks and was ready when they said it would be. The entire front end was replaced and while I have only had it a couple of days it was spot on when I got there the first time. With a car with that much damage I did not expect them to get it right the first time. The only 2 minor imperfections were a slight angle to the hood on the left side and a couple of bubbles to the new paint on the left side panel. I could not have asked for a better job straight off. Also they delivered the car to me in pristine condition .....exactly the way they got it minus the accident damage. I am a fan however will add to the post if I see problems down the line.
Update to this post: Feb 2012
After driving the car for some months we started to notice when the car was hot an antifreeze smell but put it off as antifreeze still on the engine from the accident. It was finally time for an oil change and I opened up the hood to see what else Acura service migt have to look at. Unbelievably I found anti-freeze all over the top of the front end of the car under the hood (all new parts so should not be from accident). It appears the system was over-pressurized and spewed anti-freeze. The car is not giving me any warmings about low anti freeze so am assuming this had to be the cause although will be having Acura do a thorough check of the cooling system (cost me $$$). Should have checked under the hood back when I picked it up last August.

I took my car to these guys after a fender-bender I had on Little River TNPK last year. I was bumped by a Jeep. The repairs came out wonderful. Their customer service is okay. Sometimes I felt like they judged me by my age(since I'm young) and treated me like I was doing my parents a favor of dropping my car off(nooo buddy...i've worked for what I have)... but other than that. It was a repair.

My family's been going to this place for years and years. They always do good work, the prices are very reasonable, and they're honest! Mr. Pope is a nice, soft-spoken man and I totally trust him (which is hard to come by in the auto repair world, in my experience). And he always buffs out some of my little nicks and scratches (aside from the area that I'm having work done on), at no extra charge. It's no fun when your car needs body work done, but Pope's makes it as painless as possible.

I took my Volvo here after scratching it up against a pole because Traveller's insurance has a concierge service next door. They initially finished the car a day ahead of schedule but the paint job was obviously off & didn't match well. Mr. Pope, the owner, agreed and was very apologetic. He refunded my insurance co-pay until I was satisfied and told me to bring it back so that they could fix it.
I brought it back when I could a few days later and they covered the car rental while they took a day to make it better. It was much better on pickup but Mr. Pope said that I could look at it in different lights and still bring it in if it wasn't right.
Although it initially wasn't up to par, they care about satisfying the customer and I'd go back again.
