I just got ripped off here today. I took my 125cc Scooter here for a simple oil change. I dropped it off at 12:05. He told me it would take 30-45 minutes and cost $45. I thought it was quite high, but if that's the cost then ok. I asked him to check it over, tighten bolts check the brakes, just give it a good check up. He says ok and tightens one particular bolt that I pointed out to him. I went for a walk and came back 20 minutes later. My scooter was parked across the street from his garage. I walked up and noticed he was helping some other people. I offered to come back on another day and he told me he looked up the specs on my scooter and it needs a certain type of oil. He had to order "special" oil for it. He said he ordered it from a motorcycle place on Sherman Way. It's a little more expensive he says. He then told me it would take another hour and to come back at 2:00. Okay. So I went for a walk around the block. Came back about 25 minutes later and my scooter hasn't moved. It's still parked across the street. He's now working on a BMW Z4. He said the he has to go pick up the special oil. They don't have a driver to deliver it. Ok. I'll wait. So I stand around and watch him fix the car. He finally finishes the car and asks me to bring my scooter from across the road. I do, and he asks some random guy that was working on his own motorcycle to drain the oil from my scooter while he goes to get the "special" oil. That didn't happen so he grabs the oil pan and opens the drain plug. While the oil drains, he walks in and out of his garage a few times, finally coming out with a bottle of oil that he had on his work bench. He grabs a spring that came out of the pan and proceeds to show me that my scooter doesn't have a filter, it has a magnet instead. The magnet draws any metal impurities from the oil. Okay. He puts the plug back in and starts pouring oil in. I can't imagine it takes too much oil, but he did over fill it. He poured the entire bottle of oil in, it started to over flow and he just kept pouring. Once the bottle was empty, he puts the cap on the engine, gets a can of spray cleaner and sprays the engine to clean it. He never checked my brakes. He never looked it over. He never checked it for anything. We go in his office to settle. I asked him what happened to the "special" oil, he said we didn't need it. Interesting. I pull my credit card out and he tells me it's $45. After witnessing the "oil change", I cringe and agree. He says there is a $3 charge for credit card. I tell him I think he's made enough money off of me and $45 is enough. He gives me the cc receipt and I sign it. $48. Wow. I ask for a receipt, he writes "oil change, $40" and hands it to me. So $40 oil change, $3 credit card charge, $5 for what? I'm curious, had I just been gone for he entire time (45 minutes) would he have told me he got "special oil" and then try to charge me more? Would he have even changed the oil at all? He could have simply parked it across frrom his garage and left there and told me anything he wanted to tell me. Had I not been there to see the oil change, would it have even happened? I really don't think so. I got ripped off today. I will always tell people about this story at Pat's Auto Clinic. I wouldn't trust this place if I were you. If you have no choice, certainly don't leave your vehicle. I don't believe the repairs will be fixed.
