Andy's saved me a lot of money!
You can't do better than Andy's. I went to one of those chain store mechanic shops for a routine oil change and was told my car needed some major work that would cost around $950. Someone recommended Andy's to me a few years ago so I gave…

Reliable and Honest Service!
I was in town for a night and ran over this huge bump on the ground. My car started shaking and I needed someone to look at it the next day. When no other auto repair shops would see my car for days, Andy's saw me right away. The auto…

The best & real integrity
These guys diagnosed a tricky problem in my old Jeep once--a problem Timberline could not find and which we despaired of ever figuring out. Then today I thought I had a gas leak--took it into Andy's and even though they inspected it and…

This is Where To go
If you need your car repaired this is the place to go. It is the best place I have ever taken my car to. Nice mechanics, very honest. Just do the work that is needed and do not add any extra. I have went here for a couple years now and…

I don't know what the other reviewers that gave andys a 1 star rating were thinking. This mechanic shop is excellent and timely. I was so impressed by their business ethic and expertise that I recommended them to the company I work for as their fleet repair shop.

Good prices and seemed reliable. BUT They ruined my car. I spent $1400 there and everything they did was done wrong. Now I have about $1600 in repairs. I asked for a refund and said I was taking my business elsewhere and they refused. DONT TRUST THEM!

In the last four years I've been here four or five times. I've always received excellent service and good prices for service I've never felt pressure to purchase services that I haven't asked for or don't need. Glad I found this place.

Came in off the street/no appointment in a rented moving truck after some nut sliced our fuel filler tube and stole $30 worth of gas in the middle of the night in a Portland neighborhood. These guys saved our butts and got us on the road in a couple hours - they spent a lot of time finding a replacement part that would work, and charged us a very fair price.
They seemed like very honest, hardworking, and knowledgeable guys - exactly what you want in a mechanic.

This company completely did the job wrong, put it back to gather wrong and now I have to pay more to repair the damage they did. They refused to take responsibility for their amateur work and wouldn't refund anything for the wrong work done.

Someone broke my side mirror and I Needed it replaced. I was able to get my car in the next day (they needed to order the part) and i was in and out in about 20 minutes. Fair price (Chevy dealer was going to charge me more for the part alone than Andy charged for the part and labor) definitely will be going back!

outstanding. not sure why other people mention price gouging, etc. they have always been super honest with me.
you know that feeling when you go to the mechanic's, you talk about what repairs are needed, they quote you an astronomical amount, because the repairs that are supposedly needed are much worse than you feared, and you can't prove them wrong, but you know deep down you're getting scammed? yeah, that doesn't happen here.
when my engine was overheating, i figured it was the thermostat. a nearby shop wanted to charge me $80 just to run a diagnostic test for a friggin blown gasket! a blown gasket. no. andy's simply replaced the thermostat, which was obviously what needed to happen -- no dickin around. another nearby shop told me that my catalytic converter was near a cataclysmic death, but andy's reassured me that replacing it could wait several months. which was totally obvious to everyone except the greedy little bastards at the OTHER shop.
anyway, these guys are great. my only tip to you is to call to check to see if your car is ready -- they sometimes forget to tell me. but i don't care because it's always ready and it's always really solid.

They are STILL keeping my '96 Avalon on the road. Exceptional service. Fair pricing. Honest work.
Finally found out that there is no Andy. Andy sold the business to Chuck. Chuck been running the show for 30+ years. However, you will most likely encounter Rick when you stop in. And, you SHOULD stop in!

I took my car in on Sunday via AAA towing then they "fixed" it by Tuesday. Then while driving down to Ashland on highway I5, same thing happened and I had to stop. Luckily with my AAA membership I was able to tow the car back to the shop. Then they fixed it on Monday after getting a new part. My problem is, they shoyld have taken the Tuesday charge off but they didn't. I'm upset and will not go vack to them and will never recommend them to anyone else anymore.

The are quick, reliable, and priced fairly. I've been a customer for several years now and the one time that I had a problem with their work, they took my car and redid the repair for free without any complaints.

As a woman who knows enough about cars to know when she is being ripped off, but not quite enough to do it all myself, I trust Andy's.
I send everyone I know needing car help there. In my experience (plus that of my friends), they don't yank your chain, or try to over sell you, or bully you into repairs you don't need. They are polite, efficient, and straight-forward.
I spent a lot of time, money, and energy trying to find an autoshop in Portland that treated me like a competent human being instead of a cash machine. I only wish I had found Andy's sooner!

They wanted to charge me almost $100 more than three other local shops. Here's the story:
I broke down in front of their shop. They told me I needed a new alternator and that it would be $339 parts & labor. While I was waiting for my battery to charge I called three other local garages, some parts stores and got quotes for almost $100 less. I presented them with the quotes and parts prices but they wouldn't budge on price. Perhaps Andy's thought that they had me by the short hairs.
Andy's claimed they used superior parts compared to other shops. That's not true. Their brand of part was Remy which I could have easily bought for $119 retail. I decided to buy a better brand of alternator for $169, and to go another garage. Before I left, they charged me $9.50 to recharge my battery which cost them nothing and took them only 1/2 hour on their charger.
I had my part installed a few blocks up the street for $78 in labor. I only had to wait a few hours for my car. Andy's wanted $98 in labor to install my part. I SAVED $92 and got a superior part.
I'm sorry but Andy's prices qualify as gouging and greedy. The man that gave me the pricing was one of the coldest personalities I have yet to meet.
I was stressed as most people would be in a similar situation, and did not appreciate their attempts to take advantage of my vulnerability. Too bad for them because I work and live close by so I could have easily brought them more business and referrals.

I took my 2000 Volvo S70 on a four wheel drive route, she made it out okay aside from cracking the oil pan... I called multiple shops and asked if they could take a look at the car, but none were available to look at it that day or the next. Andy's said they could look at it straight away. They determined the problem, found a solution and executed it swiftly. They are straight shooting, no-nonsense establishment that spoke to me with respect on top of having incredibly reasonable rates. I will be back.

This is the best auto shop I have found in Portland yet! Most honest prices, treats me with respect and always fixes my car in a reasonable amount of time! I have taken my car here a couple of times now after being quoted ridiculous amounts by other shops, he always gives me an honest price! Tired of being treated like a dumb women when it comes to cars, hes honest and respectful, I will take my car to Andy's here on out!

Do not recommend. Work 1 block away came here for a quick oil change. They charge $36 which is too much for a regular change but decided to go ahead for the convenience. They said it would take an hour. Four hours later I haven't received a call so I walk over there and they tell me that the last person stripped a screw out of my oil pan (sure, buddy ;). This screw apparently costs 50$. Obviously I was not happy. I called my regular awesome mechanics who I always go to and completely trust they said that was way too much to pay and on top of that it should take less than 20 minuntes. They also said if I could get the car to them they would fix it for free. Unfortunately there was no way to do that without a tow since they already drained my oil. Bottom line it took them from 930 am until after 430 to change my oil and it ended up costing 87.50$ for regular oil in a vw golf. Oh and the icing on the cake? They smoked in my car.... doesn't get more disrespectful than that. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of Andy's.

The guys here were really helpful and got my card repair done in a timely manor. My only complaint, and this is a complaint that I have about every repair shop, is that they didn't call to tell me what was going on with my car, I had to call and check in repeatedly.
They did a great job and seemed very honest.

Been coming here with my automobile issues since 1993. I won't go anywhere else. They give accurate quotes/estimates (cost & time), I've never been disappointed. Regular maintenance items like oil changes are about $39. A little spendy, but they check everything out and don't try to upsell you on "new wiper blades" or a "smelly fir tree."

I've been coming here for years and they always give me the best price around. I've stopped by other mechanics for quotes and Andy's beats them by a LOT! My last experience with them they performed the work for 1/3 of another shop's estimate. They've even loaned me cars in the past when mine needed to be in for awhile.
Other shops have told me that I needed work done on my truck and that it would catch on fire if I didn't do it, which sounded a little alarmist to me. I took it for a second opinion at Andy's and they confirmed my suspicions that the other shop was just trying to scare me and that it didn't need the work.
