I called this guy, told him my alternator was gone and asked him if he rebuilt them. He said yes and mumbled something about a wire that is commonly bad in alternators of my model; that it would be $75-$130. I was given the impression that the ALTERNATOR would be fixed. I found later that this is true of OLDER models in which this wire is located ON the alternator, unlike mine which attaches to it. They sent me away and closed the door on me while "fixing" my car, then announced that an alternator would cost me $275. He told me I would have enough charge in the battery to last me at least 2 hrs. It lasted 10 minutes...not enough time to get my own alternator. I ended up putting a $30 alternator in the car on the side of the road myself (with the help of a very nice stranger)...runs like a charm--and will continue to; but now I'm out $75. I doubt I'll ever see that money again and he'll never have my business again. Just cause I'm a female don't mean I don't know nuthin 'bout cars! Just another dishonest mechanic.
