What do you do when you notice your muffler is dangling precariously from your car? In my case, I found a local Bellingham automative shop (Sterling Automative) to pull it off from the string it was barely hanging from and then as suggested by Mr. Sterling, I drove over an hour away to get a new muffler installed in 30 minutes.
I called in advance, but no appointments are necessary. The attendant said it was a slow day. I went on a weekday (Thursday) in the late afternoon(3pm), and I was able to pull into one of the two stalls the shop has. No lines...wahoo!
The mechanic greeted me immediately and asked me what I needed. I showed him the after-market, noisy muffler that had been installed by the previous owner and had (thankfully) come off. I asked him if he would please install a normal one that doesn't piss off the neighbors when I pull into the hood. He asked if he could keep the noisy muffler, which I was happy to gift to him or the garbarge can.
The small waiting room has several chairs surrounded by a library of magazines of every genre. The desk attendant is friendly and efficient. She goes over the estimate with you and will happily ring you up at that point, or you can wait until the work is complete. They take credit cards including AMEX. The bathroom is clean.
My muffler took a bit longer than 30 minutes to replace because the mechanic discovered that the pipe also needed to be replaced. I was thankful that he was able to knock out both tasks in under an hour and for about $170.

Told me they replaced my Exhaust manifold gasket and did not. The owner Rusty offered me my money back but never sent me the check after I contacted him 2 times and he told me he was sorry that they charged me over $200 for labor for a job that was never done. I marked exhaust manifold gasket before I took my car back to this shop to get this work performed and asked for my old exhaust manifold gasket but they could not find it. The old exhaust manifold gasket was still on my car when I got home to check it. So im out over $200 dollars.

As long as you just need the muffler replaced they're adequate. My truck had a broken exhaust manifold stud which they didn't have in stock. They offered to get one the following day. When I arrived the following day they forgot to get them. They told me that they would call when in stock
Two days later no call. I called and asked for manager who was not available to take my call. Left a message to give me a call. Tried one more time with same results. I finally when to dealer got the stud and installed myself
Bottom line is that they do not go above the very basic muffler replacement. If you need anything else go elsewhere.

Had to replace the catalitic c...

Had to replace the catalitic converter on my truck, ordered parts to do on my own, to make a short story short, the mind was willing, but not the body. Kevin at 30 minute muffler quoted me a price, and I had the work completed the next day, for the same price, Excellent work and I am very pleased.

James is the best in the Business! He went above and beyond to get my Van back on the road. He drove 80 miles after running his shop all day to my place to weld up a custom bracket for me. This guy can do anything! He went above and beyond. I will be taking my Van up there for a few upgrades, now that I can drive it to his Shop. Thanks James!
