I discovered this car repair shop in 2012 and have been going back here ever since. At first it was about the convenience of it's location and the fact that it's a locally owned mechanic shop. After a few trips, I realized that they actually know what their doing and care about their customer's cars more than their wallets. I've been to many car repair/mechanic shops in the Albany region and haven't found a place I'd rather drop my car off at.

My wife's van had an electrical problem that could have been caused by one of several different things. Chuck narrowed it down and said it could be an expensive module (buried behind an interior sidewall panel in the rear cargo area) or merely the connection to it. After getting to the module, he unplugged the connector, reconnected it - and it has worked fine ever since! He saved me a small boatload of money on that module!

I have had my Subaru serviced several times by Consaul Auto Care. I am extremely impressed by how competent, honest, thrifty and down to earth both Chuck and Debbie are. My latest car problem was an air conditioner that would not work. From going to forums on line, I became aware at how tricky AC problems on older Subarus can be to diagnose and treat. The dealer immediately said that the problem is always a worn out compressor which would need to be replaced. Having had a great experience with Consaul Auto Care before, I brought the car to Chuck who evaluated the problem, spent time on line researching the potential problems and diagnosed the problem as a bad revolution sensor. He wouldnt guarantee that he was correct, but offered reasonable assurances. He was absolutely correct, replaced the sensor and the AC works perfectly. Instead of a $1800 dealership solution, Chuck fixed the problem for $290($120 for new sensor plus labor). I have no agenda in writing this review other than to express how happy I am with the service I have received and how much I like and enjoy working with Chuck and Debbie. Terrific experiences are a rarity in this world. Consual Auto Care has provided several. I am extremely happy that I found Consaul Auto Care and they will certainly be my go to shop for all of my auto service needs.

I've been going to Consaul Auto since 2011 and have never had a bad experience. I have tried most the auto shops along Central Ave in Albany and Colonie over the last 7 or 8 years and have found some to be shady and some to lack knowledgeable with car problems (especially "odd noises").
The employees/owners at Consaul Auto treat you great from the moment you call to the moment you get your keys back. They will go to great lengths to help you out. This is a locally owned and operated shop but it's quality is greater than I've experienced at the franchises.
